Xalimo

Hiya everyone,

This is Xalimo (the X is pronouced as h) from Dubai.   I grew up in London UK and have been in Dubai for about a year and a half.  I was in Oman for another  year before moving here.

It's been an interesting experience, so far.  I have a love , hate affair with Dubai.

I'm still learning about the culture, though some would argue that there isn't much culture to be explored.     And genrally getting to grips with living away from family and the people I've had around me,  my entire life.

I'm currently a housewife.  I was a Learning Mentor when I was in London.  There’s no such thing in Dubai, so I've worked in a school as a Support Teacher, last year.  It was fun, I'll be starting teacher training in September but right now, I'm spending quality time with my little girl and just exploring Dub. town.

:)

Welcome on board Xalimo!

What do you like the most in Dubai?

I wish you the best for 2008 :)

Xalimo

Thanks, Julein.    I wish for a prosperous new year for you, too.

I like many things about Dubai:
1.  The cultural mix, everyone has their distinct culture but then there's a bit of a mix up.
2. Seeing progress take place.  You see the desert transform into a metropolis, literally.  It's fascinating.
3.  People are friendlier and kinder than they are where I grew up.
4. The sun (not in the summer though) and the sea.
5. The shopping…
6. Everything being halaal.  I'm a Muslim.
7. It's close to many exciting places, so travelling is cheap and easy.
8. and the money, off course.  Hehehe.

Julien,

I’ve thought of more, actually.  Yeah, it’ll be a cool post… watch this space.

You're off to a lot better start than I am on this site; being positive and all.

It makes me actually want to... A. See Dubai for myself someday. and B. Start think of things I might add to might list of good reasons to live in the places I have lived, specifically Spain.

Thanks
