I am due a tax rebate. I have filled in my tax assesment form and been sent an acknowledgement receipt. Does anyone know through experience, how long it takes to receive the rebate? I have emailed them but heard nothing yet...Any ideas?

Toon

at a guess months if not years - they like to hang on to your cash.

tearnet

You may get it as an overpayment, deducted from your next tax assessment.

I hope not, I have 2 more years in uni...I was expecting a cheque, do they not do that sort of thing??

tearnet

No idea, I've never had a repayment from Malta tax office.
Try telephoning them and asking.

From my experience - around 3-4 months.
And you cannot offset it with next tax assessment - there are different tax years

I'm not suggesting that he offsets it but the next tax form he receives may include it as an overpayment.

One thing is certain is that there will be no rush to repay him!

Duxx

does paying monthly rent somehow influence tax rebat?

Like in croatia if you pay rent and ofc your landlord has submited to the tax dept that it is renting a flat in the end of the year when submiting tax statement you get some tax back from rent payed

Duxx

anyone?
