Buying Prescription Drugs in China

Post new topic

Hello everyone!

I'm not currently an expat but I'm planning on being one soon.I'm an American hoping to be living in China as of early 2014.

I have problem that I hope you can help me with.

The healthcare insurance that my potential employer offers does not cover prescriptions for pre existing conditions. I take a prescription drug daily for a chronic condition. (The drugs aren't painkillers or anti- despressives). Home based insurance will be very expensive or unaffordable.

I'm having trouble finding the costs of the drug online if I were to buy the medication without insurance. Does anyone know of any affordable insurance policies for expats living in China that cover pre existing conditions?

Thank you in advance for your wisdom and ideas!

Cheers,

Alexander

You may ask your future employer's HR department to locate you a personal insurance company.
Or
You can look for an insurance company state side that will cover your medication while overseas.

Thanks for the advice Kris! I'll ask my employer about finding me an insurance company.
