Post new topic

I am wondering just how many folks here are in Jeddah? I continue to read (with pleasure) about all the fun you all are having in Riyadh and I am beginning to think no one on the forum lives in this beautiful city by the sea.

I have posted a number of questions about Jeddah and have received nary a response. Am I alone here??

If that is the case, I guess I will have to live vicariously through you folks on the other side of the Kingdom :D

If you are in Jeddah, please speak up. It would be nice to help each other out around here too. Hope to stir up a little communication from the West side!

Cheers,

Mike

Well. I guess since I am still new here in KSA (only 4 weeks) and since I still don't have my iquama or a car, I am a little less likely to get "out and about" as of yet. So for now you all are stuck with me asking my Jeddah questions. But who knows, soon I may have to leave you and go diving or party hoping or something ;)

I was in Jeddah about 2 weeks back until I was sent on a temporary assignment to Jubail :|

Well anyway, Jeddah is the best city in Saudi Arabia according to me coz thers lots to do there..the city on the seaside and its brimming with excitement. Visit places like Corniche which is the sea side...i bet you already have by now :| alternatively there is Balad which is a Marketplace where you can get all goods you need...cheap! You can also visit Durrat-al-Uroos which is an awesome beach Resort. Then again there are great malls like Mall of Arabia, Red Sea Mall and many more. Moreover, Jeddah is Food City .... visit Aziziah to get the best of Indian/pakistani cuisines...you will find all the Fast food places in all the malls....Get back to me for any more questions..i'll be glad to help out :)

musicman,

You differ in opinion :D

Haven't been to Riyadh yet. One thing i dont like abt riyadh is that it has no coast which means half the fun removed :|

Hi Mike
Welcome to the Rowdy Riyadh forum!

I was due in Riyadh a month ago (visa blues) and the one thing that has kept me sane is reading about the shennagins on this  forum..The 7 hour difference (Australia)sees me laughing out loud around 1am.
It all takes time and I hope your popping in to this post will mean that we can keep you amused until you eventually meet up with some Jeddah folk.
Must say I envy your proximity to the sea!(although the humidity factor is something I'll gladly do without)

Hi - Im living in Jeddah with my family and so far so good. Do miss not having any cinemas but I guess that's just one of the few things you have to get used to here. Luckily where we live we have our own private beach ( can walk it in a whole 1 min flat lol) but the snorkelling is absolutely amazing. Alot of the folk here visit the Silversands Beach in North Obhur. You might want to check it out. Very nice pay beach. The malls are great them all - so our weekly visit to one is actually nice - can't go there ALL the time. We try to visit a different one but Red Sea Mall is probably one of the nicest. I have a teenager who is missing the surfing scene so much!! MOM THERE'S NO WAVES with an utter look of shock on his face - when we first came here lol. Otherwise I guess the best way of socialising that you can do is to make friends and visit. Luckily for you guys you can drive....otherwise Jeddah is a good place to be.
