Hi there,

The following is a list of licensed banks currently trading in Gibraltar, looks like there's lots to choose from...

Bank Jacob Safra (Gibraltar)
Barclays Bank PLC; The Anglo-Egyptian Bank (later Barclays) opened a branch in Gibraltar in 1888.
Barclays Wealth
Credit Suisse (Gibraltar) Limited
EFG Bank (Gibraltar)
Gibraltar Savings Bank
Jyske Bank (Gibraltar) Limited
IDT Financial Services Limited
Leeds Building Society
Lloyds TSB International
Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch Private Bank Limited
NatWest Offshore Limited
Newcastle Building Society
Norwich & Peterborough Building Society
SG Hambros Bank (Gibraltar) Limited
Turicum Private Bank Limited

Could anyone tell me which bank is the best, which account to choose???

Kind Regards,

If you are looking for a normal High Street bank offering savings and current accounts then you are limited to:-

Natwest / RBS
Norwich & Peterbourough a building society
Jyske Bank  very expensive charges
Barclays, closing next year.

I'm not sure what services Newcastle offer.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your quick response.

We use NatWest at the moment and we happy with them.

Do I need to open new account with them in GIB or keep my current one in the UK??? any advice please???

Kind Regards,

Hi

You will need to open a Gib Account

UK cheques take forever to clear and are not widely accepted

UK credit / debit cards are not a problem

I've been informed that Nat West will now only open an account for you if you are RESIDENT in Gibraltar.

I live in Spain and work in Gibraltar and was told by my employer that I'd be able to open an account there but it seems I just missed the boat. As far as I know Nat West was the only bank left offering accounts to non residents working in Gib.

Still, if you are living in Gib you shouldn't have a problem.

If I am mistaken on this please feel free to point me in the right direction!

Thanks!
