is Bahrain friendly to working moms?

Post new topic

thank_you

Hello.

Thank you for sharing your information and experience as a working mom in advance.

To give you a little background, this is my current working schedule.
drop kids to a day care at 8 AM (meaning leave a house at 7:15 AM).
pick up kids and arrive home around 7 PM or 7:30 PM depending on traffic or grocery shopping

work Monday - Friday.
no work on weekends- however, weekends is the only time to do main grocery shopping and house chores. no peaceful time to sit down with the kids.

20 days vacation days on top of 5 days sick days and national holidays

Question:
What about working mom's schedule in Bahrain? Do you have more vacations and more flexibility to attend kids' school activities? Does your work finish almost the same time so kids will be able to see mommy at home when they come back from school?

I know my question is not lucid, but want to hear some experience saying that working mom can spend more time with/for kids and family than America.

Yours is a very hard question to answer without knowing who your employer will be, what sort of job you are going to do and what your contract says about hours, holidays etc.  As in the West every employer is different.

Different schools start at different times - my son starts at 8am - and it depends how far from school you live as to travel times.

Daycare here is limited.  But most families employ full time maids to look after their children, do the housework and sometimes do the shopping and cook.  If you employ such a maid I guess you will have more time with your family even if you work full time.

Scottrace gave you a good answer - it really does depend on how flexible your employer is. My kids are older so I haven't experienced day care here but most working mums do get a maid/nanny and also a driver if the kids need to go places while mum is at work.

Overall you would definitely get to spend more quality time with the kids - your schedule sounds really tough, I'm getting tired just reading about it.
