What's the problem with Mobily?

I don't know if the representative was either a liar or incompetent or whether it's their system that's screwed up.

Am I the only one having this issue with Mobily: Customer service at its finest?

Alliecat

All I can say is that the ladies at the Mobily office here in Riyadh are hopeless.  All they can do is sell a contract--as for trouble-shooting anything? FORGET IT!

TheLegendLeads

They have prethora of problems :)
I switched to STC 4 yrs back and I'm happy ever since.

gonzrule

Thanks. Now I just have to change number. Or should I say, "switch side".

TheLegendLeads

Switch side :)
Changing number isn't necessary anymore.

gonzrule

You mean it is possible to switch side (Mobily to STC) without having to change number?

TheLegendLeads

I don't have first experience @gonzrule but this is one EVERYONE says. Please do keep us posted.

Trapezius

Yes, that's true, no need to change number if changing providers.

gonzrule

Thanks! :)

I will keep you all posted.

Here is an update:

I just converted all my negaty points into usable credit and found out that I can use it only for texts and calls.

I couldn't purchase prepaid internet with my new credit. :(

Perhaps these telecom companies are too concentrating more in merchandising league teams than focusing on customer service...
I used STC for 8 years before moving to Mobily from 2010.

psyberdude

Mobily is a nightmare, stay as far as you can.

star999

I think it is a matter of time

This is in response to a comment made on this thread I posted: Whether it is possible to change from Mobily to any other Tel Cos ( or vice versa) without having to go through a change of mobile number.

I can't be too sure whether I got it correctly or not (language really is a barrier here), but as far as I know now, it is possible. If you are on a post-paid package, you need to settle all dues first before you can push through with the process. If you are on a pre-paid package, just use up all the credits before pushing through with it. All you need to bring with you is your national ID. In our case, expats, our Iqama. Depending on the Tel Cos, the charge for it varies.

Have a happy and relevant new year!

Full Monty

Mobily send me texts 2/3 times a day, kindly reminding me (in English and Arabic) that I can spend lots of money on their useless, failing products. How very kind of them  :/

Hello There..

Just let me put some light on this .. I came to the Kingdom, got a new (SAWA - STC) sim card on some other Iqama number as i did not have an Iqama yet.. after a month when I'd got my Iqama, I visited STC and changed the Sim card on my name by showing my original Iqama.. just a few minutes of work... barring the waiting time.. by the way the sim was pre paid..

A week later, I visited mobily and changed my pre paid sim number to a mobily post paid.. As instructed by mobily, I used up my credit on STC before they disconnect the service.. It usually takes 2 -3 days for this to take effect.. until then you should not use your new sim card..

Now.. I've the same number but a different service provider..  :)

Popolocroix

thinking...thinking...of switching...
i have used my STC pre-paid for long...but how does mobily fare with STC's packages (esp. mobile internet)...
and how about the sim's validity? does the switch of service provider will have any effect?

My primary concern "IF" i would switch, is, the changes with regards to mobile banking, and other services attached to my mobile (like ministry warnings on violations, updates, etc.).  So, im a prepaid sim user (sawa) with pref # of 050...but if i switch to mobily, it will become 056...so, i guess, i still have to go around again to the inconvenience of updating or registering my number to such agencies... :(
