Yes  :) but doubt we will use that.

GuestPoster566

Runs on Lynux.
It will accept a keyboard/mouse and there is a virtual key board.
And yes we have some movies on demand.

GuestPoster566

Point to note. The output is not HD and none of the channels are HD specific but video is delivered via HDMI.
However, the picture is good enough for the price.
Tweeking the TV settings also improves the pic.

i agree however the HD content with other suppliers is very good - but i wouldnt recommend it as it will crucify your internet limits.. and will eventually impact on your speed and ultimately performance

I only use the HD content foe specific content

INTERESTINGLY -  i spoke to flutisat this morning and they told me there was no movies on demand (VIDEOCLUB)

Has anyone used OpenDNS ??

Maybe I misunderstood but I can get some movies from a list of those available. I'll play with it more later and get back to you. (I'm a bit slow this morning owing to a concert last night followed by 'socialising'  ;)

I use Hola extension for my Chrome browser, it's free and works.

Thanks Redmik..

I have tried 4 different Smart DNS services and none will work with my computer.

The last one, having tested the setup, said that based on the nslookup test results, my ISP (GO) is intercepting DNS lookups which prevent SmartDNS  functioning.

Have now given up and sticking with 'Expat telly' VPN service

install xbmc on your laptop or android smart tv box and a whole new world of television and cinematic experiences will open up for you.

http://xbmc.org/download/

all the different add-ons give such a vast array of entertainment most of which are free.

madliena

You could try filmon.com for internet tv all FREE and a website called myiplayer.com all FREE and they have more than just UK channels on there

GuestPoster566

Just installed that on PC but can't understand how to view TV. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Toon

you need to install the repositories....and enable the adds on you need

the following are superb

mikey1234
tv guide dixies
all superepo

they will give fab quality if you config them properly and dixies guide is superb once you set it up

http://addons.xbmc.org/category/video/     follow the help link on the lower right

http://superrepo.org/

all the repos you  could possibly want are here in the last link

but the three main ones above should give all you need

or if you want to make it easy - install   http://xfinity.xunitytalk.com    as a source then look at addons within the source - do the xunitytalk wizard and install the addons from that once that is installed its almost automatic

enable and disable the ones you need within system addons

I have the exact same android media box in the picture above (though it was branded as something else) I get all the films/TV I could ever want from it with XBMC, which has Filmon/EXPAT TV already added to it, as well as NTV & many other 'add-ons' which have live streams from many other TV channels around the world  :top:

a worthwhile addition to ones tv in my opinion - xbmc adapts well to the laptop and android platforms and with ntv s packages  http://www.ntv.mx?r=dr   their xbmc and web packages are good value - and the good thing is that they do it in russian and scandinavian too so covers many expat nationals

its a good way to get everything in one box (android) attached to the tv permanently with a remote control - at a reasonable price without fiddling about with a laptop

GuestPoster566

Thanks Toon, I'll look further into it.

Toon

OK IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS pm me and i will try to guide you

hows the flutisat box going

Not too bad though sometimes it will switch itself off. I think that may be for updates.
I have spoken with supplier and he will replace the box if necessary but I am just giving it a bit of time.
Also, sometimes the feed on some channels breaks up but I guess that is to be expected sometimes.
Thanks for offer of pm help too.  :top:

Toon

there is the occasional blip on iptv bit its relatively new technology and the advances made in the last 12 months have been well worth it - HD quality is superb when you consider the mediums current ISP limitations.

we've had ours for about four weeks now and have found another supplier (and tried their test for 24hrs) who is considerably cheaper (for the package i have and much more besides (down from €34 to €23 per month) and its easy to change the portal feeds.

Yes definitely. I bought my box back in the UK before I moved out here as I looked into a cheap/free way to watch UK tv on my TV, rather than just on a laptop. As well as the TV channels there are of course all the TV episodes/series you could ever want, as well as movies, all for the price of a £60 little box. I also discovered another add-on yesterday that lets you catch up on most recent tv programme episodes & it included many from the UK as well  :D

Toon

what was the add-on for that

FlamingGalah!

toonarmy9752 wrote:

TubePlus. Just an easier way of finding recently aired TV shows

aha i will give it a go thanks

GuestPoster566

I went to look at Tube-Plus and got this warning. Anyone experienced any issues?

Toon

ive looked at this, this morning and didnt get that warning at all

Toon

is bullguard on your laptop

GuestPoster566

BullGuard is on all my devices  :)
I could override it and proceed but I am wary of these things.

Toon

and rightly so - everyone to there own Red - i personally have had no issues so far - even my ultra strong firewall is sensitive to certain sites that are known to me and are 100% safe - are picked up as dangerous or malicious.

FlamingGalah!

TubePlus works fine for me on my android box & I tried it on my laptop too, have AVG internet security & it never picked anything harmful up...

Toon

a new place for uk tv-BBC ITV Sky news etc.On XBMC go to Mashup-VIP-Staael1982-Live TV and you will find them under UK 1-16..... and more besides....picture quality is looking better than Filmon. Staell along with Hackermil are great places to find new movie releases. well worth a look....good luck

FlamingGalah!

Yep those are better quality streams, Filmon looks a bit naff on my 40 inch TV lol. I have been playing about in Navi-X today & found some good quality streams in there too, bonus is you can add different streams to your folder so they are kept together & you can rename them too. Apparently NTV are going to be having a cheaper UK tv bundle without the premium channels at some point & Mashup are working on a UK tv add on with an EPG too  :top:

Toon

you can alter the filmon quality to high in xbmc in the config panel (including all the filmon derivatives)

FlamingGalah!

Ah yeah I hadn't figured out how to do that with my media box, it was simple on my tablet, but have now managed to find the settings menu, now if I could just get rid of that huge filmon logo lol

Toon

sadly the ones that dont have that are usually pay services... but the staael 1982 channels dont have the logo and the pic quality isnt bad at all - i just dont lke the massive dutch subtitles on the discovery and animal planet type channels -0 btu then its for free so hey ho

plus id like to rename those channels so theyre more meaningful - it must be possible somehow

FlamingGalah!

Yeah I was going to have a look for his streams in Navi-X so I can rename them so you know what channel is what.

Toon

you must try installing istream on xbmc - it is excellent and makes life so much easier for tv shows and movies

see the video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=yo … pp=desktop

FlamingGalah!

Yeah I have done it on my laptop, but not on the TV box as my other half has only just managed to navigate to where the channels etc.. are lol

Toon

its so much easier for direct access to the movies and tv series etc (no more hunting for good streams as it does it itself)  - and you can still have the same access to the live tv items too.

Toon

if you then download the free startup manager from the play store install it and then customise it to auto start xbmc

no  more of that launcher

and using the same tool edit the apps that start up at power up so as to make it faster and free up memory etc
