Welcome Salim
The first question to ask is does your visa allow you to work in Malta?

As for climbing, it would have to be indoor as the mountains in Malta are not suitable for beginners as they are all grade three or higher. Mellieha would be a good place to start as there are quite a few steep steps and the high street is steep!

Malta's highest 'mountains'. :D

The highest mountain in Malta is Ghajn Abdul, standing at 190m, on the island of Gozo.

Also:

Għajn Abdul, Ta’ Kerċem          168 m
Filfla                            59 m

Highest point.      Ta' Dmejrek 253 m (near Dingli)

Got a few cliffs though and some of the bar stools are pretty high.

554m?

Wow, that's massive.

Can't say I've ever noticed it but according to Google I live in the foothills of this monster.

Err, yes just double checked that and it's indicated as being 190m above sea level. Stand easy :) (Will edit the other.) Thanks.
I have pm'd you, you'll see why. :)

Thank you redmik

I think it will be amazing adventure for me in Malta.
about the courses , when I Google I found schools provide climbing course for beginner like me , but the prices are high (around 350 euro) in that a ordinary price or there are lower? and what the school or club the best to learn the climbing?
when I Google i found Malta Rock Climbing Club offering 10euro/year membership , but I don't know if there are courses .

I think you need to answer 'tearnet's' question about your visa because I think that usually students are not allowed to work. I could be wrong but that is something you need to verify before expecting to work, especially as you are not an EU resident.
Good luck.

thank you tearnet

I'll be in Malta as student, I read that students allowed to work just 10 hours per week in Malta , is that true ?
is it easy find part-time jobs ?

Hi Salim,

it has been said before on the forum by another member that Malta welcomes job applications from all non-EU citizens but that is not true!

Non EU students are not allowed to work during their 1 st year of studies in Malta.

From the second study year onwards students are allowed to work a maximum of 10 hours per week but only if they have a work permit which can be difficult to come about and has to be applied for by the employer.

The work permit will only be issued if it can be shown that no Maltese or EU citizen is willing to do the job.

I was fitness trainer in my country , and I have bachelor degree in business ,in January 6th, there is fitness instructor course cyq 2 with future focus ltd in Malta , I decide to start it , it's not full time course , i found some fitness gym in Malta looking for instructors with this certificate
I know that it's hard to get work permit in Malta but when I get certificated, It will be easier ? since until now these gyms asking for instructors .

Hi Salim,

no, as all instructors in Malta need this certificate anyway. You will be competing with all other certified instructors and, from what I hear, there are many to compete with. Most work on a self-employed basis which is not allowed for non-EU citizens.

Gaining the certificate as Fitness Trainer will not help you with the part-time work limitation for the first year. If the 'powers to be' realize that you are looking for work to part-finance you stay you could have a problem.

Normally they ask for 48 € /day of your stay in Malta excluding course fees to grant a study visa.
