Hiya everyone..
Just registered on this forum on the hope to find some friends from my own region or anyone in Europe who does love the socialising as much as I do. I'm particularly interested to join my own (British) embassy parties or any other embassy invitations as its a good easy way to make new friends. How does it work exactly? I"m also dying to drink a glass of something as locally I cannot find since its not legal but of course... it does exist in embassies.
Any help would be much appreciated. I'm so much in a party mode..
Many thanks in advance
Hey Brit!
You should register with the British Embassy website so that they know that you're here! I don't know if they use it to send invites to their events, some embassies do, if there's a larger community they won't be able to invite everyone but it doesn't hurt. There's an invite going on tomorrow but I'm not sure if it's an invite only. I'll find out if it's not i'll PM you the details
Many thx for the detailed info..very helpful much appreciated. I did register but I didn't get anything so far..
It sounds interesting tomorrow.. Yeah keep me updated whenever you can.
Many thanks
You're welcome! So I found out the event is invite only but there is a trunk show to kick off the British fashion week at Harvey Nichols at the Avenue Mall tomorrow that starts at 5pm. There will probably be lots of Brits there so it will be a great opportunity for you to do some networking
There's another private event on Thursday evening for the main fashion show so if you talk with the right people you might get an invite
Many thx again for the info.. I may know someone by his username here or another forum so u have given me a good idea to look for him...
Cheers dear xx
you just got to meet the right people I got a friend who has diplomatic id so when ever i need a drink i call him an he signs me in you just got to make the right connections
hey,I'm from New York just arrived last week ,but I have my business here in Kuwait for almost eight years,
sure I need to communicate with new friends to enjoy life in such city, you know what I mean,
cheers,
Adam
Join us this evening at Al-Maidan Cultural Center (Location) to enjoy an evening "organised" by the British Embassy.
The event will feature a violinist and a pianist for the pleasure of our ears.
It starts at 7:00 PM (better be there earlier to find a good seat). See you there.

I've never found the link to register at the British embassy!
chrissaejbella: what's this "sign in" thing? to go to events?
justfedup: dammit was that last night?! I wanted to go to that!
KevanV: I'm not sure how the British Embassy set up is, the US has a site where you can go to and sign up for updates and so that they knew you're here and in case something happens to you. The smaller embassies tend to use the information from there to send out invites to their embassy events.
if you want to drink at the bar at the embassy you have to get signed in
the us embassy do an open air party i think every Tuesday, however, Kuwait is filled with small gathering groups either from work or friends or embassy like,
i suggest you get socially interacted to places like Hilton or Palms or Holiday inn Salmiya (gym and classes) to start off
good luck
Just in case anyone's interested the British Embassy is also hosting a car show this Saturday from 4:30pm at the SIRBB Circuit in Shuwaikh
The British embassy is holding several activities this week and the next. I forgot what the occasion is but I attended a small concert last Sunday and there they invited people to the other events. Too bad I wasn't paying attention. But I think you can call and ask.
R these parties only for Britishers and Americans or any one can go
It's for the Great British week and the invitation doesn't mention anything about being a private event so i'm assuming that everyone is welcome
I know they had a violin rectial and fashion show already. Chef Gary Rhodes will be at Verenda today for afternoon tea and tomorrow for dinner service, the automobile show this Saturday and a lecture coming up.
@tinataitlyn it's the violin recital which I was talking about .... yes it is the Great British week. Thanks for the update.
Gosh my busy life has kept me that busy to even check out the post of this topic..i missed quite a bit I can see
Thanks to all for your guidance. I love socialising so I got to make up time for one event a week at least. It seems all so interesting..
If I remember how I registered I will let u know British fella guy how but they may have replaced it with an invisible link
Thanks again to all..keep up the updates!

The American Embassy does happy hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays from around 5 until about 9. It's a pretty good time but you have to be escorted in by someone with a pass to the embassy. My wife told me the Hungarian Embassy will have a wine tasting event in May that I believe is open to the public. More info to come on that one.
Anyone know how the happy hour at the American Embassy is? is there a good turn out?
Wonder if they need a bartender...
It has it ups and downs,
Alot of guys there want to hook up, usually with new girls showing up
Its an Okay option in my rating

I am anxiously waiting. :-D
@TallQ8i: Sadly that's pretty standard and i'm totally not surprised to hear that... was seeing if it was even worth checking out and if there was a decent amount of people.
@socal434: ditto - keep me posted

my wife and I might try both... does anyone know an American?
In such parties I feel very much like a stranger. I might see a nice guy who'd share with me a nice conversation for a minute but that's it. So I don't feel the hype for such occasions anymore. I prefer going to a party (or any activity for that matter) with people I already know.
To those who make it to the parties .... Enjoy
Can't an ordinary American guy lets me in? or does it have to be an embassy related workers..
@pretty33
Anyone one can let you in, he doesnt have to be an american
I'm pretty sure you'll need someone who actually works at the American embassy to let you know... not just any guy.
That's what I been looking for but I haven't had the time to check out some contacts..

@britinkuwait what a generous offer. You can through a nice party and expect nice people to show up.
Of course, always keep a designated driver for the transport ... Enjoy
Hi Guys, new on this just signed up the other day. Are any Americans going to the embassy tonight that would be prepared to sign me in for a few hours. I'm from England and have been here for 4 weeks. My friends are teaching in the city and I am thinking about trying to try my luck down there any ideas?
Keep intouch
let me know when is your next girls night...i am very interested
Thanks
Thanks. Yes, this is quite a good site- the first I have done like this but it's quite good for meeting. I going to go to the embassy anyway and see how I get on.
@gregb1: if only it were that easy lol you'll need someone who works for American Embassy to sponsor you so you can attend. Good luck
@tinataitlyn and @gregb1 ... you'll need someone to sponsor you to be a resident in Kuwait and you need a sponsor to get you into the party, so you need to be double sponsored
Welcome to Kuwait ! And enjoy your time *\(^o^)/*
