Sandal,

It's a difficult situation to find yourself in but are you more interested in making a contribution to your job or worrying about a title?  A true leader must be willing to get his hands dirty if it means the team will improve.  Let me ask you, does this regularly occur or is it uncommon?

Something I learned during my own interview process in Saudi is that Supervisors are not as high on the food chain as they are in the US.   Before pushing this with your employer I would review your job description and make sure being asked to get involved in the labor process is not an expected part of your position.

Good luck,

Rigger

Sandal and Rigger,

I think some of the problem here is "cultural". In Pakistan, unfortunately, people who do things with their own hands (blue collar jobs) are looked down upon and people are ashamed if the are seen by others even cleaning and painting their own houses, cutting their garden hedges and washing their cars in their drive ways.

I am still not clear of Sandals problems, Has his employer misrepresented and promised him one job but forced him into another OR The nature of job demands physical exertion which he does not like..

My advise is that you should COMMUNICATE with your management politely and tactfully and express your concerns, I am sure they would do their best to sort out the issue.
