[Expat Blog] Summer Get Together - 29 July
I, like a few others, missed out on the last meet up. Having suggested organising a second meeting and already, within a few hours, had two people showing an interest, I feel it's all systems go.
As I've been here 6 weeks, help in terms of choosing a venue would be appreciated, although the Madinat seems a good location, reading responses from the last meet up, someone suggested somewhere a tad quieter. Feedback please.
Secondly, a convenient evening to ensure a good turn out, Friday or Saturday seem the best options,
Provisionally, I would suggest the 30th or 31st July, just under 2 weeks.
The earlier you show an interest, the quicker I can arrange a meeting so pleaase don't hold back.
Look forward to hearing from you and meeting you soon.
Harry
Hi Harry,
Nice of you to start organizing our 2nd meet-up! I'll relay the information on the French forum and maybe somebody could do same on the Spanish forum?
Cheers
Arlette
Hey, I just arrived a few days ago and although I haven't started work or moved into my apartment yet (hopefully later this week), I'm excited to meet new people. Count me in as long as I'm not working then!

Arlette
hello All,
Its always good to meet new and nice ppl! I will be interested in an upcoming meetup!
Regarding the dates for the meet up, it has been suggested that Thursday or Friday maybe better. I'm ok with that.
Anyone expressing an interest to attend please state your preferred day. Majority wins over the coming days even if it turns out to be a majority of one.
Please feel free to invite any friends along, the more the merrier.
Hi All,
I agree with Chrisitna, Thursday night is as well not bad. As I work on saturday.
By the way I am in Abu Dhabi.
Hi there,
I find it a nice idea to arrange the meeting on 30/31st July. I will definitely come to see you all. I'm new in Dubai and would like to make friends here.
Regards,
Kenan
Hi, I prefer the meetup on Thursday night or Friday, because I have to work on Saturday as well.
Looking forwards to see you all at the coming meetup.
Julia
Hi guys,
I would choose Friday, but Thursday is also fine for me, so count me in! I am happy because I'll meet new people. Christne, Arlette, looking forward to seeing you again.
Hello All,
Arrived 3 months ago and still catching up - would be nice to meet up. Thu or Fri is good for me.
Once decision is made, directions would be very much appreciated. Thanks
Hello Everyone! This is a great idea! I am ok for Thursday.
Look forward to meeting you all.
Harry - quick find a location!
Hi Everyone
I'm pleased to see such a great response to this meeting next week.
Thursday appears to be a popular evening for the meet up so we shall go with that.
In terms of the venue, I think that the Horizon Lounge in the Habtoor Grand may be a good choice.
I would say 8pm would be a good time.
Again please provide feedback, the evening is for all of us.
That is the place, thanks. I'll have to see if it's possible to reserve some seating. Thursday nights, of course, are always busy.
Watch this space.
good to know and location is near my house!! Habtoor Grand is Dubai marina, Take Dubai Metro to Dubai Marina Station, then a cab from there to Habtoor Grand
Dear all,
am new to this forum and let me know the place, i will be happy to meet you all.
do send me a message once the place is confirmed.
Welcome to Expat.com perfectsats !
Regarding the meet-up, just follow-up this thread; in the message hereunder containing the list of participants there's a link to the timeout page where there's a map at the bottom of same page!
Hi all,
Count me in, heard good things about the venue so it should be a good night.
@ harry, will you be negotiating price for drinks, if so they will all so throw in some finger food, not just nuts and dry twigs.

Sure Mila, you might have seen that mine is coming too
Hi Guys,
Can you please make it on friday night ? please ?
Hi da.Surfer,
I'm sorry to say that it will not be possible; we asked in the first days of the organization of the meet up to give up preferences of the day but now as you may see we have already a long list of participants who agreed on the Thursday so it will not be possible to change!
Maybe next time? Else, why don't you try to organize another meet up on Friday's (but please start a new topic )
Cheers
Arlette

Hi
Re. Horizon Lounge, I'm waiting for a call from the manager, if he calls, but I have booked us in. Apparently there's a promo on Mojitos for ladies only on Thursday.
More info as and when I receive it will be posted here.
Hi
Things have become a little quiet here, I hope you haven't all forgotten.
Everything's now sorted for Thursday night at Horizon Lounge.
For those who haven't been there before, when you enter the lobby, turn left and walk straight down the corridor, at the end of the corridor turn left, lift up to the 3rd floor, then walk straight between the champagne bottles, then out and into the tent.
Mojitos are AED15 for ladies, nibbles will be provided about 9.30, they're expecting a decent sized group so no drop outs, we don't want to disappoint anyone, least of all those who do attend. I'll send reminders Thursday just to make sure.
Looking forward to meeting you all.
Harry
Hi Harry,
No we didn't forget but only as you may have read we stopped the enrolment because we can't just increase the group till the last moment (we could take 4 more if you booked for 25...)
OK I'll translate the explanations into the French forum (where by the way we got only 1 person...)
See you Thurday
Cheers
cool.. see you guys tomorrow! hopefully!.. anyone coming from JLT /Tecom needs a ride?
@harry.. I am sure you have been to the location? how good/bad is the light on that location.. so according to that i will bring my camera.. with or without flash! may be a lowlight lens!
See you tomorrow guys!
