Need friends and job

The other thing you might want to look at are different interests that you can get involved in. Building a group of friends means building a history of shared experiences. I don't know what you're interested in, but you really need to get out and meet people. Look on meetup.com for local meetups in your area and join in - whether it's bird watching, drumming, hiking or kayaking you'll start finding friendly people and within a couple of months you'll have friends.

I second looking into Meetup.com. I moved to Melbourne a few months ago and have been able to form a nice group of friends all met through meetups!
