My husband would like me to draw up a budget of how much having a dog will cost in Mauritius, before we commit to getting a rescue dog that we are meeting this Thursday. Can anyone help please? We need to know things like food, equipment, flee meds, vets fees, kennel costs for when go abroad once a year. Also, can anyone recommend good pet shop in / near Tamarin / Vacaos please? We also don't know where we are going next, so will have to consider costs of possibly transporting the dog in a few years time. Thanks, Tessa.

Dog food - 400rs per 2 kgs for branded, 200 per 3 kg local
Flee med - bayer powder, shampoo- 250 rs each
Vets fee - 300 per consultation
Kennel and transportation - don't know

Hope it helps

You can even get the do for free if you are not looking for a pure breed.
