This is my first post on this forum. We're considering a move to Languedoc. As a way of saving $ (I haven't discovered the Euro symbol key yet) we are thinking of being there sans auto. But that is only if public transportation is easily available. Public transit is generally good in Europe but how about Languedoc in particular? How is rail service to local towns and to Paris and other regions of France?

You can have a look at the SNCF website - choose a town you interested in and check the frequency of trains.

But just don't even thgink about buses

I assume you're saying there aren't any busses in the area?

Hi,

it depends where in the LR you would be living... Montpellier, Perpignan, Narbonne ... or in the country side ?

Buses tend to be very infrequent and finish early in the evening - everyone has a car cos there are no buses, and there are no buses cos everyone has a car.

There will of course be buses in the large towns - but again check that a town's website for transport details.
