Hey Everyone,

I'm an American soon-to-be expat and my father is Thai and lives in Bangkok. He owns a fairly large building and runs a motorcycles dealership on the ground floor.  He's got 5 more floors above that and he and I really want to make a cafe/restaurant/hangout spot catered towards expats living in Bangkok.

I'll be in Bangkok in September to help him w/ the design of the place. Any recommendation/suggestions as to what this should include?

Any input would be great.

Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the forum Cheylene. And an anticipated Welcome to Thailand.

Most expats run the nights of Bangkok from club to club. So making a Dj stand would be favourable. Perhaps an outside area ( if you have any) Or a chillout area, away from the noise.

I would like to help more, although it is quite late and my brain isnt functioning well. If I come up with more ideas I will give you my input.

Also, If you need Deejays, designers, event managers or marketing managers, I know some that are good and also good people.

Have a great one.
:)

Afraid I must agree with Luis that most expats like to bar and club hop in the various night life area's of the city.

A nice neighborhood grill/pub kind of place might make it provided its located in an area of Bangkok that is populated with many expats and they have nothing local.  It would also require someone that knows how to setup and manage such a place.

I currently live in an apartment building that has about 100 apartments and a grill/pub on the property.  The grill is currently on its 3rd owner because the previous two didn't have a clue on how to run a successful place.  The new owner does and you can see that in the number of people from other close by condo/apartment buildings that are now stopping for food and drinks.  He's lucky because its in an area without any such neighborhood places but has many expats.
