The best way to change the VISA to work VISA is to find a job and get enrolled with a minimum pay of RM4500/month! This can also worked out if any personal business is running in Malaysia that gives an income or RM4500 on an average for 6 months at least.

Hope this will be helpful for new comers!

Unfortunately this is TOTALLY INCORRECT

Personal business by foreigners or joint ventures with locals requires incorporation of a company.

Refer to https://esd.imi.gov.my/portal/ for the correct information regarding employment terms

Refer to http://www.hasil.gov.my/ regarding income tax matters

Hello .. hope this msg finds you well .. i have a question and i hope someone can answer .. i am phd student and i have a student visa . I got an offer for a good job in here and salary is above 6000 .. Now the Esd want me to cancel my student to con with my Ep .. the company agent said i oready got a pre approvel but inorder for the final one i need to cancel my student pass first .. will i have any problem if i cancel am afraid they reject the application  and i end up having no visa .

As the agent said - you already have immigration pre-approval (i.e. it has not been rejected). It's just that can't proceed without you cancelling your student pass because it is not possible to have more than one valid pass at any one time. So you have no choice if you want the EP

But you are not showing what your nationality is. Check if part of cancelling your SV is to leave the country and wait outside for Visa Approval Letter and potentially (depending on nationality) a Single Entry Visa (VDR)
