BIG JOCK

Last week an old back pain reared its ugly head. Now back home when this has happened, i nip along to my local doctor, he throws me face down on the couch, applies some magic potion and proceeds to kneed my back ( lower back, just above my ass of to the side) After 10 mins of this and a couple of anti-inflamitaries I am hot to trot.

Wow, were my eyes opened when i visited a certain clinic here whose doctor and clinic will remain nameless. The second they saw i had medical insurance you saw their eyes light up. This was obviously a licence to print money. I had to sit and listen to this doctor talk a lot of nonsense. I managed to keep a straight face. Oh, you need an x-ray, then you will need an MRI, then what ever drugs you have will be no good and the ones i suggest out our pharmacy will be better, and then you will need physio therapy. Bloody hell, more like open wallet surgery.
I could see through all the BS and realized this is a clinic that obviously pushes you to sign up for everything knowing that the insurance will pay for it all.
I left after half an hour and the doctor did not lay a single hand on me. Amazing diagnosis. I will never again complain about the medical system back home. I just wonder how good the doctors are when their motivation is based on profits.
Be aware when you go. You know your own body and a lot of the time we go to be reassured and confirm what we already know. Dont fall for it.
If any of you out there know a good back doctor ( sorry I cant spell chiropractor) please advise me.

It is crucial that the doctors have to have diagnostic measures (i.e. MRI, xray, eply's maneuver, blood workups) first before they perform any therapeutic procedure, especially when the body part being dealt with is as delicate as the spinal column, in your case, the lumbar spine. So, don't get pissed off because they are just following SOP's so as to treat you accordingly and not to aggreviate your condition. Just be patient, coz after those diagnostics you've undergone, proper and effective treatment(s) follow(s).
Sorry to burst you bubble on your belief in chiropractic but I think you should do an extensive research about it before you subject yourself on that procedure.
Get well soon!!!

If you change your mind, Big Jock, I know a good neurosurgeon, in a private hospital, that provided good assistance and guidance recently.

When it comes to orthopedic problems and their related issues, I turn to Al-Razi hospital since I have seen some of the best doctors there and they use the latest technologies. Downside is that it's a bit slow.
