Hi Dana,
Did everything pan out okay?

My situation is similar, marrying March 2020 should I contact FBI now? I'm from USA.

Thank you

I’d get started if I were you

Hi all.

Any updates on here on the latest requirements?

The latest document is saying no CNI and is it still the Acro police check required? Or the basic Dbs check?

The criminal record check from Rabat you can also do online?

Also why is it so hard to get an appointment at the consulate? Marrakech and Rabat are not showing anything? This is frustrating because you want to plan your appointments.  If you can get the ball rolling it makes life easier.

Any latest updates welcome.

From the UK here.

Thanks

Hi Debbie.

Any updates on acro check or dbs?

I’m from New Zealand and got married in Morocco last year. Only required a basic police check. My husband told me that’s all you need unless you are marrying a policeman or someone employed by a government agency.

@zahidiqbal81 hi,

I got married less than a month ago, now I am back in UK

I will help you

@john00000020 Hi John Thank-you. Could you please go through your journey with me.  And what checks and what and who helped with all the appointments and checks to run smoothly.

Just this afternoon a translation office suggested you can walk in to the British consulate if you can not find an appointment online for Marrakech?

Also i  was looking at doing the criminal records check on-line rather than travelling to Rabat? I will be in Marrakech in March.

Thank you in advance.

@zahidiqbal81 hi,

The process is quite difficult and would be easy if your fiancé's family know some people inside,

In terms of the British embassy appointment,  they get released i think every Tuesday and Fridays, but they are like 2 months away and they get taken really quickly,  I had an appointment booked in Marrakech for 2 months time, and then I was checking every day for a cancellation,  I managed to get a cancellation in Rabat for a months time, so I cancelled the Marrakech one and booked the Rabat one, then I sorted all my documents out here in the UK, the apostle takes around 4 weeks, so be sure to get that done ASAP, so that when you get an appointment,  you will be ready,

john00000020

@zahidiqbal81 also make sure you get a new birth certificate, because it jas to be dated within 3 months of your marriage,

CNI is not accepted there because you will obtain a Capacity to marry certificate from the British embassy in Rabat.

Also get the Acro police check from here before you leave, it comes within a week.

The criminal check i in Morocco is simple, you can request it online, then collect it from the ministry in Rabat if you haveyour british embassy appointment in Rabat, thats whT I did, otherwise I think there is a option where they can post it to you,

Internal flights are cheap in Morocco, around £50 both ways.

@zahidiqbal81 oh yeah, you can't just walk in to the British embassy without an appointment,  it is literally sealed shut, and if you don't have an appointment,  there is no way you can get in, I was 10 minutes early for my appointment,  they didn't even let me in until the appointment,  I had to stand on the footpath. Even though they have a massive seating area inside,  they just don't let you in and don't want to know about anything

@john00000020 Hi John thanks for the info. Yes, yesterday I asked if the fiance or family knew of a fixer maybe someone who can pull a few strings, it will obviously cost, but if it gets the process a little more organised then this would be good. I have a applied for a new birth certificate,  this should be here In a couple of weeks. I misplaced my old one and then found it.

The certificate of residence from HMRC,I phoned for this document yesterday. They said to apply on-line on the Gov website. I also asked the local council for a letter. The local registry office didn't know what I was taking about.

How long did it take you from start to finish in Morocco. Have you completed your Nikah now?

john00000020

@zahidiqbal81 hi,

Don't get the certificate of residency from here because they wont accept it,

When you go to the British embassy in Rabat or Marrakech,  they will also take a copy of your passport and certify it, this is your certificate of residency.

I went twice, so the first time I went for 2 weeks, I went to rabat and attended the British embassy adn then to the ministry of foreign affairs to collect my moroccan criminal records check also you have to get the 2 documents from the British embassy in Rabat certified by moroccan authorities,  so I also had to go to the ministry, a different one to get those certified,

Also I had all my documents translated in to Arabic in Rabat too because the guy was good and cheaper than others,

Then I went back to agadir 45 min flight, then I had a local doctor write a medical report, then it was submitting all the documents to different departments in the family court, that took a couple of days,

Then we had to go to the police for an interview which took like 2 hours then I returned back to the UK,

Then a week later I went back and attended a final interview with the judge and then the next day we went to the adoul and did our nikah,

Overall from starting my documents in the UK like apostille ect it took 2 months and in Morocco around a month, minus the 1 week I came back to the UK.

@john00000020

Thank you for this.

The plan is to get all documents prepared in advance and sent over for translation.

The main thing is to try and get the British consulate appointment for March 13th or 14th.

I only have  12 days a avaliable and then another week at the start of May.

If I can get my documents from the UK to cover March and May within the3 months. This may be an option if I can not get it all completed in March.
