Further i am also trialing the offering by mikea..it too looks good to me and the quality of picture and sound is acceptable to me. A good range of channels incl dave and really etc. the real benefit is as J said using the same vpn for iplayers etc.. so no need for extra vpn service. i do think it would be better to have the channel selection options at the top of the initial viewing page. Cant say in I've noticed any great buffering issues so far but thats likely to be more evident when there are more users - and unfortunately that is what put me off using this type of service in the past. Apart from having to connect the laptop all the time...this is a pain for some but not for others. However try it and see for yourself. Financially the monthly subs are not too different.....

CHEEKY @#$%^&*!!!
GIRFUY!!
Actually it was worse than a pub team, it was our under-19 team, a bunch of Bairns, quite literally!! There was only one player on the pitch in his twenties and I think we had a couple of 16 year olds playing for us. But the Old Firm are getting so bad these days you don't need to stick your full team out to turn them over. If we meet again in the Scottish Cup, we'll maybe play our under-14 girls team and give you a chance
Let's hope we get Ayr Utd in the semi-final draw on Tuesday. COYB.

They only have 3000 members, so it's difficult to get in, but if you're interested, keep checking every day or so. It's not as good as UKNova for newer programs but has loads of really old stuff.

The TVTorrentz site is closing it's doors for good at the end of this month, i.e tomorrow. After that it will be a closed shop, no more new members EVER, no invites, nothing, so it's your last chance to join. I've been a member for about 6 months now and can highly recommend it, it's got loads of old programs on it. If you want to register you have to use the Signup link below:

Good review thanks. Finally got my internet installed by Melita, so now have a nice fast connection with plenty of download allowance. Are they still offering the trial do you know, mikea offered it to me, I'd like to try before I buy so to speak...
Hi,
Albeit the volunteer trial has finished, we are more than happy to provide a short trial period to test that the service works for you!
Go to the website and sign up... we'll take it from there for you.

if any of your family or friends has a slingbox connected to their TV and Internet , you can create an account and stream the programmes to your tv in Malta.

too much buffering and inconsistent internet connectivity here for tha....and too incovenient with channel changing and wires.... dreambox sunray pingulux for me....100%
i sure wouldnt say old technology for sure....vpns have been about for years and there are too many that rise and then fall..same as your catchup tv systems - the day is not far away where uk iplayers will be available on sky anytime...
HI, use a VPN UK (£5 pm) on my Laptop and have a friends Sky Go login from the UK. can watch pretty much all sky channels and sky sports. Plus obviously iplayer etc. Would recommend if you can handle the occasional buffering
I cant handle the freezing and buffering am afraid.....but it think the day will come when we expats can have LIVE UKTV via a good set top box linked to internet complete with catch up iplayers.
Some smart tvs have these built in but alas my efforts to find out if they will/can by pass the IP checks in uk or whether they have the ability to set a uk VPN proxy IP - have not been too successful...both Sony and toshiba have been unhelpful and dont seem to know.....
am not too worried about ITV as we get that live here anyway via a sat system..but the UK live bbc is what i am interested in getting - but not via a laptop and vpn....LOL what you have to do to keep err indoors happy with her eastenders - so for the moment its downloaded each night or each morning.
Im in Gozo and have been using a VPN for a few weeks to watch BBC One, ITV, Channel 4, Dave, etc, works fine providing your connection is fast enough, it needs about 1.5mps so most people should be fine. Im using AngloVPN http://www.anglovpn.com
looks like lots of new people coming on the board just to promote AngloVPN. If I was the Forum Mod I would check there IP Addresses... Work on the Forum that I am a Mod
Surey if they were trying to promote a VPN service they would have the ability to cloak their ip location? the best one if any to push is expat sheild anyway, for just bbc anyway
Hi all,
it seems to be an ongoing issue as to how to receive UK TV programes in Malta free or for low cost. I'm not the expert to give any advice on these issues but from my understanding most off or all offers are not up to legal standards. Please do not use our forum to promote any of these technically vialble options to get around laws that are applicable in Malta.
Regards
Ricky
Hi Ricky, yes I did a little research an apparently it is legal, providing the person has a UK TV license in their name, for others not though, hope that helps.
Might also be worth having a read of this article of the British pub landlady watching other EU service providers and winning the case in the EU courts, give it a year or 2 and it will be the same for Sky in Malta, Spain etc.

Hi,
ok , for all those forum members with a UK TV license please go ahead with per PM as to the options to receive UK TV programes in Malta.
Please do not promote /post any options that are not legally available for regular users.
Sorry and thanks.

Ricky, No disrespect meant but that is a real can of worms you are both making comment and judgement upon! I was a part of that industry for a number of years and to my knowledge, even today it remains one big grey area and I am now so glad to be out of it...
but I am still missing Malta !....

Hmmm licensing!!!!! even here in Malta not many people have a TV license for their own home grown tv - never mind from anywhere else in the world. Even their own cable companies dont have licensing to show programming - so IMHO - A VERY VERY GREY AREA.
Didnt you know that Malta is the hub of anything for free, no matter how, its part of the psyche.
Oh and by the way the british pub landlady that got the judgement in her favour was overturned in the high court. so money does talk.

When did that happen Toon? and I didn't know that the High court was able to overturn the rulings of the European Court of Justice! and this was the Court that Karen Murphy won her case just this past October!

My understanding is that is wrong - the UK licence aplies to UK only.

cant remember all the details mike but i do recall there was an article in the last few weeks about it. Money and the money men will always speak and will allways beat all comers for sure.
There are 18 legal points to consider and further legal appeals in the British High Court still to come.
Judges warned that "protected works" - which could include the opening sequence, any graphics or the Premier League anthem - are subject to copyright and their broadcast will require the permission of the the Premier League.
although this article would seem to indicate there is another hearing on the matter in the british high court later this month

LATEST
BSkyB and the Premier League are about to start a campaign of prosecutions against thousands of pub owners that illegally broadcast English football matches. They will begin by signaling their intent in warning adverts that will run through the drinks trade press. These adverts, which will explain that pubs suspected of illegal subscriptions, meaning they don't have the pint glass on screen symbol which signifies commercial use, will be subject to heavy fines and/or jail.
This move follows the High Court judgment where the Premier league won a copyright ruling against pubs that use non-UK decoder cards. The High Court ruled that pubs that violate League copyright when they show any edited media and pre-recorded video.
The court notice said that the League is entitled to copyright protection of certain artistic works and graphics that formed part of the relevant broadcasts of football matches in these proceedings... There is now the prospect that companies providing a service that allows the 'communication to the public' of any such artistic works could cause their customers to be liable for copyright infringement.
Since the ruling, the League has placed more logos and symbols on its content so as to develop ownership of the material. This should prevent pub owners from being able to turn the TV on and off when they know copyrighted content is about to be aired.
Pub owners have already felt the heat of of the court ruling. Frederick Young, licensee of the Rose Inn in Shenfield, was fined £2,500 for each of six offenses. An Essex landlord, who was convicted for showing international matches without a commercial viewing agreement, was fined £19,000. Even Euroview, one of the main distributors of foreign boxes and cards, has shut down.
Some are fighting back, however. Next week, Karen Murphy, who owns The Red, White & Blue pub in Portsmouth will seek to have her case overturned at the High Court. Murphy was paying £118 instead of £480 for her subscription, using a Greek decoder to show matches. She had taken her case to the European Court of Justice, which said she'd have to have the fine overturned at the High Court.
Next week will also see the High Court ruling over the Premier League's case against QC Leisure, a satellite TV company which was providing content to the pubs. The ruling on this case will have significant impact on all the proceedings.
Lets wait and see what happens in this one... very interesting case...
