Looking for long term rent in Sihanoukville.

Post new topic

malibayman

My wife and me, along with our two gentle, well trained Labrador retrievers want to come to live in Sihanoukville around February 2016.

We currently live in the Philippines. My wife and daughter spent a few months in Sihanoukville in 2013 and we now have had enough of the Philippines, a country regressing so fast it will be back in the 30s in a couple of years.

Daughter is now at university, living in and we want to come and try a new place.

We are looking for somewhere within striking distance of the ocean as our dogs love to swim. Two bedrooms if possible and of course, a bit of space for the dogs.

We need a furnished place as we are keeping our stuff in our place here in Phil. Budget is around
$3-400 plus utilities. Looking to rent for minimum one year.

Our business's here are dog breeding and we are bringing out top two dogs. My wife also has a business here selling British and Aussie pies and pastries to ex pats.

My wife will be coming to Sihanoukville in January to have a look for properties so any heads up would be appreciated.

Hi, Just let me know a month ahead. There are houses that are 300 per month. Its still long time ahead.

Thanks for you reply. I was expecting to be advised that I might have trouble bringing our dogs.
I know it is six months away but the move is a big thing for us and I don't want to be left arriving with no place to live.

Hey guys,
I'm USA expat in snookyville. i just moved into a beautiful 3 rm apt. (SongVa Kong-web site) $250 mo plus util (maybe $75-85) + cable flat screen tv,great a/c,2 burner gas cook top, stand up refer (frezr),hot water (only in master ba). In my 75 plus yrs.(amazingly I have 32 yr old ladyfriend- I told her I was 55) I have never slept on a more comfortable bed and pillows. The pets are no problem (2 cats for me). The reg $$ per mo was to be $300 but 1st renters got 3 mos for $250. If you like walking every thing is within 1/2-3/4 mi. i have an old mototbike and today i bought a real nice bike,7 speed+basket (kong here) for $45. There are places as cheap as $120 mo. but small and probably no pets.
I'll maybe still be here in Feb,but I have a "bucket list" (things to do before I kick the bucket) and will be using hostels in nearby countries to see the sights (Singapore Flyer-biggest ferris wheel in world,etc.).
Best of luck! I hope this helped. This apt will eventually have 4 floors with lift. now has only 2 floors open. they also have 4 rms with 2 bedrooms in same sized unit.

Hi Malibayman.

I know the feeling. I have been planning my move for 6 month also and I have done a ton of ressearch on Sihanoukville. I will be happy to share my info of the housing there.
Just send me a PM and I can send you the websites I found. It might not be your thing to rent from realestate agents, but it will give you a general idea of what kind of houses you can rent - all the while knowing that you can get it 15-25% cheaper if you choose to rent directly from the owner :) .

Why are you so worried about showing up with no place lined up? Don't you have any confidence and a sense of adventure? If you are bringing the kitchen sink then maybe that's how it works. If you want to start over fresh then just show up with yourselves and start over. Dogs? To each their own who am I to judge.

Hi Again.

We found a nice place in a community called BS Villa with almost 50 % of the houses ready for rent. 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 1 kitchen and 1 livingroom. Garden and garage. huge rooftop tearesse with a stunning view. We pay 450 usd pr month direct to the owner, others pay 250-350 if they pay a years rent up front. 2 km to marked 4 km to the beach, 8 min on scooter to downtown. The houses needs some TLC, but my wife and I are happy with the result.
There is also a security guard, but it seems like there is not a lot of crime as long as one stay away from the bar/bargirls scene.

Dont do the "realestate tour".... I did and man are the full of crap :-(..

The massive immigration of chinese casino workers has sent the rent up in the downtown area.

Hello there everyone,

@ Doggie55, i moved your post to this thread on the Sihanoukville forum as it you will be more likely to get some feedbacks about accommodation here.

I suggest that you also drop an advert in the Housing in Sihanoukville section of the website so as you may get some offers and compare the prices.

All the best,
Bhavna
