Moving to Stuttgart - General Questions

Post new topic

b0ot

Hello All,

I will be moving to the Stuttgart area soon for work and will be looking for a place to live. I'm able to stay in a hotel for a bit while looking and will be heading out there as early as the start of Oct. I'm from the US and currently don't speak any German but plan on trying to take up the language. I was hoping to find some general advice on a few topics:

What are the best methods to find available apartments?
-- What websites are useful (e.g. Craigslist etc)
-- How much negotiation should be expected?

What are some desirable locations to live within Stuttgart?
-- Currently 28/m, enjoy going out (bars etc), soccer(football), running but prefer not being kept up all night with noise
-- Will likely be moving with girlfriend

What should I be expecting for rent?
-- Hoping for at least two bedrooms, off-street parking, washer/dryer/dishwasher (or at least hook ups)

What have been some successful ways that have worked for you in meeting new people?

Any other advice that you might have in consideration before moving out?

Hi all,
Hope that you are doing well. I'm looking for some suggestions. How is life for kids in Germany? Can Bangladeshis afford children's study cost over there? Is English medium schools available at reasonable cost? Please let me know.
THANKS
