Hey Kerry,
welcome to Expat.com. If you are hankering to be around your fellow canadains, then if i may suggest, "Expat Canadians in Dubai" @ meetup.com (http://www.meetup.com/canadiansindubai/).

I went to to the thanksgiving event, last month and i had a blast. I got to meet up had a few drinks (no candains beer :( )with my fellow Canadians, had some great turkey, and sang some tunes (ya, we were pretty buzzed).
But dont get me wrong, this group @ Expat.com is pretty great too. You should come to our next event, for some good food and good company.

Expats live like kings in UAE

That's not at all true. Unlike 15 years ago, so i hear, times have changed. While there are no taxes, prices of things have gone up ;and the law here does not play favorites to any one particular expat.
I think this kind of thinking is the most common misconception for early or "young" travelers from North American or European. Frankly, its just plain ignorant to believe that their own country is and always will be "#1". Just try to learn to open your mind to new things, experience and culture.

Hi there,
In a time span of 1 or 2 years at most I will be moving to Canada, and I am interested in meeting Canadian fellows to get to learn more about the country....

Looking forward to your replies

Ibrahim
