Hello,

I am a new member to Expat.com.  I have been traveling to Thailand and a good portion of South East Asia for the past 14 years.  I am flying out of NY tonight to attend a wedding of local many-year Thai friend in Patong. While there I am going to look at some apartments in Patong, with the plan to rent it out for a few years, then use it when I retire.

Any thoughts on this process are appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi all,

My husband and I are thinking of living in Chiang Mai on a more permanent basis.  We have been living a nomadic life now for three years and are feeling the need to "grow some roots" and stay in one place for a while.  We've been in Chiang Mai for almost two months now, so the city feels more familiar already.  I am looking to join events and groups to start building my local social network.  Looking forward to learning more about this online community!

Hello, everyone!

My name is Kristi, I'm 23, from America, and have just moved to Phuket to teach English for the next few months. I'm new to Phuket and new to this forum, and would love to meet some friends here!

Hello all!

My name is Dimitri, thai people call me Deem.
I am 29 since 3 days and got back from Thailand 2 days ago.

The first time I went to Thailand was in 2011. I immediately fell in love with everything about the country. The people, the food, the weather,...

In 2012 I went back to Thailand for 7 months.
I stayed a little less then 3 weeks in Phuket (I do not plan to go back there) and a few weeks in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. Then about 5 months in Pattaya.
There is a lot of prejudice about Pattaya, but believe me I didn't go there for what you might think.
I love the city because it's vibrant but peacefull at the same time. Depending on where you go..

I have 2 Belgian friends living in Chiang Mai and quite a few thai friends in Pattaya.

I find it very hard to settle again in my home country and I can't let go of the idea to work and live in Thailand.
So that's why I joined this forum and I hope to get some helpfull information over here.

Greetings to all!

Julien
