Evening All,
Is there somebody out there who can give me advice about dehumidifiers.
How effective are they for Malta...given that they work better with closed environment..no open windows etc.  I have air/con. Are they useful while aircon is on?  Are they useful in winter to remove humidity?  Am looking at a small one, not automatic.  Any feedback would be appreciated.

last year our de-humidifier was on a lot and it stil didnt really do much to prevent moisture we had one of those moisture catcher tubs on each window sill and still the cuboards got pretty damp

if you have air con then there is a dry setting (usually) this cools the air and drys the room out together - in our new house it seems to keep the moisture down

Thanks for your reply, Rob.  Will do a bit more investigating.  It was more about making me feel comfortable in the humid environment, but don't know whether it would really help.  My apartment is new, and on the second floor so don't expect the same scenario as my previous limestone, ground floor, old townhouse, rental.

You need one that is the right size for your room/s.

A small non automatic one in a large room will not be very effective.

We have a large automatic one in our bedroom and keep the doors open to other rooms and its very effective.

If unsure of room sizes etc then go for the biggest domestic one you can afford, bigger is better.

Keep windows shut if its running and AVOID using Gas for heating.

As Rob said modern air con is as effective.

Thanks for advice, Terry.  Will look into the air conditioning possibility first and check out prices.
