Its over priced and the lack of housing is a big issue for Auckland at the moment. Hamilton is more preferable as it has alot of what Auckland has to offer but housing and jobs are a lot better and its less expensive, also its only an 1hr from Auckland, but if city life is a big must then you could try Wellington or one of the other cities.
