Food is a large part of the  "entertainment/social life" here in the Kingdom. And thankfully there are some really good joints to grab a quick bite or have a relaxing good meal.

I see that this forum has a lot of people from a lot of places around the world. Rate your restaurants that you would like to eat in this place.

There are very few sites with critical ratings of khobar restaurants, and I really dont want to see that, I want personal opinions, and places that you have gone and you could recommend fort people. Also try and mention the approximate rate per head for a decent meal. :)

Dont just view this post, Reply people!! :D We can get a database thing going on!! :D:D:D

Cheers,

RedGoblin

I see 23 views and no replies, So I am right in assuming that everybody prefers to eat at home? :P

Anyway, first restaurant to be reviewed by yours truly,
Steak House, next to the Silver tower building.
Decent steaks, though they do sometimes tend to burn the outside a bit on a few occasions. Really good salad bar and Unlimited drinks.
Apart from the steaks themselves, the chicken wings and the sandwiches.. they are not that great. wouldnt recommend. THe staff are really very helpful especially when u have to pull of a surprise birthday party. Just talkt ot the manager before hand, and they will help you out.

price per head : around 100-130 depending on the steak. :)

What about a Chinese restaurant

RedGoblin

@moon77 :  am not sure I kinda got the name of the place, or where it is, could you be specific like that? and also whats the best dish to order at the place.

cheers,
RG

Close to the bridge Bahrain

RedGoblin

Baba Hassan right? Yeah it used to be really great, but not anymore..

I prefer to go to Soul Kitchen opposite to the Steak house, for some excellent sea food. U have lobsters, crab, shrimps, and a great deal of good fish.
Sushi is also great at the place. But beware, sushi is an acquired taste. its not something that you can eat the first time and enjoy it. :)

price per head : It depends on how you order,

moon77

Baba Hassan right?no,no,no

I'm not adding any restos here but am instead asking for recommendations : are there any hotels that offer buffet brunches on Friday mornings?

RedGoblin

Friday morning...dont know specifically Friday morning, but then there is a great breakfast buffet at the le meridian all days, dont remember the price since I was there for a meeting. :P

and @belish : coming all the way from Jubail for breakfast? Cool! :D:D

belishabeacon

Thanks for the info, RedGoblin! I will definitely check out le Meridian then. And yes, all the way from Jubail for breakfast, since there's nothing decent around here :)

RedGoblin

A great place for breakfast is the Baguette next to Tamimi on the corniche. I dint like there lunch or dinner menus, but there breakfasts are pretty good. Again not sure if it will be open on Friday mornings. ofcourse its not a breakfast buffet, but the items in the menu are pretty good.

moon77

gooooooooooooooooood;)

twaone

The breakfast at Le Meridian is excellent (SAR102). Super variety and first class presentation.

RedGoblin

TGI fridays - A really good place to ahng out have some good steaks, pastas and stuff. the best part of TGIF is that the staff is extremely helpful..

The food is excellent. it can get crowded during the weekends though.

Price per head - around 60-80
time for service around 15-20 minutes.

twaone

the TGIF Staff is very nice and friendly and helpful.

TGI fridays is Great I find it gets a little crowded also sometimes but in a way thats good because the atmosphere is buzzing. I recommend that you try the steaks with the caramalised onions some mashed potatoes and w cocktail drink the selection is good so Im sure you will fond your favorite.

I found the branches on this website sufrati.com

Anybody know a good Indian restaurant?  One with any array of veggie options would be a perk.

When I moved here and saw just how many Indians live in the area, I was excited about possibility of finding little hole-in-the-wall eateries.  Alas, I have found none...not even in the Indian part of the Souq.  They're all over the Souq in Bahrain...

RedGoblin

Indian Restaurants- the copper chandini if you are looking for a bit something pricey. Queen of India is a decent place to have some grub, but then not the best thats all I ll say. these are north Indian food joints, but then they are not what I would call the best. Mughal is a really good one as well. moderately priced, and very good food. service wise dont look though :P
there are some, as you call it "hole in the wall" eateries too.

For south Indian thats a totally different story all together. and you will find a lot of places that are in fact just that Hole in walss, which serve out some amazing grub. there are other bigger retaurants too.

UniversalStop

Where are these places that serve out amazing grub?

And I'm definitely looking for Indian places that exist more to serve Indian demographics, as opposed to Westerners/Saudis.  I heard about the pricey place, but have avoided it so far for that reason.  But I don't know where it is either.

That's one of the definite downsides to not having a car here, you need to be able to tell a cabbie where to go, and I usually haven't got a clue.

RedGoblin

No ride? hmmm..
then my friend you will end up in the pricey joints, since the hole in the walls are well hole in walls. :D

Well I could have helped you out, but I am grounded myself. (car got totalled recently!) One more thing, if you are to go for the small places, then You better have a knowledge of hindi/urdu. because else you will not have an idea on what to order! :D

Any place that you would recommend for a bite? Not necessarly Indian, anything else that you have experienced?

twaone

The Blue Strawberry is pretty good, though definitely not a hole in the wall!

RedGoblin

the blue strawberry? hmm.. new place, at least I haven't tried it out. where is it located?

twaone

It is in a compound call Rebayat (?) very close to the Oasis Hotel. Open to the public, reservations not needed except for big groups.

twaone

By the way, on Wednesday nights, the Oasis Hotel has a fantastic seafood spread including great sushi. If I remember it is sar140.

RedGoblin

thanks for that! maybe i might jump in tomorrow and check it out! :)

Another little place that I found during this week. A small Italian place on the King fahad 22nd cross (?) The Perk, small place, but with some great food. Seriously recommended. The staff are also very helpful. it is small, I think there are only a few tables there especailly the singles section. But then it does have a small eatery like experience. the food is above average and the prices are kinda low.

Price per head with dessert - SR 80-100.

mohammedm

There are number of good Indian Restaurants also - for those who like spicy foods

RedGoblin

Indian restaurants are one too many, just have to find some good places now! thats the tough part!

oracletrek

I tried an Italian Restaurant "Gondole" last week, ordered pizza, but not satisfied actually. Pizza was big, topping was poor, although written in menu some vegises, there was no, only tomato paste/sauce. Location Khobar corniche, close to Tamimi.

RedGoblin

I dont know of any place that serves wood burnt oven pizza. for pizza stick to the specialists. Pizza hut or the pizza company :P

but the gondola, i have heard that the food otherwise is pretty decent. havent tried it out yet. will do and put it up..

twaone

Went to the Gondola last month. It was OK, had the pizza and it was decent. Good crust. Pasta dishes looked good.

RedGoblin

So gondola it is for this weekend.. :)

twaone

I want to try The Perk when I get back in Kingdom after the first of the year. Will contact you to get directions.

KSAGUY

I recommend all of you to try the best Indian restaurant in Alkhobar. It is "copperchandni"، which is located on the prince Faisal bin Fahad street nearby Meridian hotel. They offer really spicy food and delicious beriany (spicy famous rice with either chicken or lamp. Prices are reasonable. I guess SR150 will feed two people.

RedGoblin

The new year and  a new restaurant in the books!

Tried out Burger Fuel.
Now first up, I am not a big fan of the burger. Well I have seen the way they are made and its not a pretty sight on what all goes into the burgers!

But got dragged in with a couple of friends, who were adamant on having big burgers and thats just what we had.. Big, no.. BIG burgers. I felt mine was the size of the dinner plate itself! well they do have some interesting varieties and stuff. a bit pricey for a burger I would say though. But then Finsihing one up with drinks and fries. well thats not an easy feat.. :D

Price per head around 80-100
Service - can get real crowded and then you will end up waiting for a long time.
Taste wise. I have to say they are some good burgers.

RockyBalboa

Visit Pattice France for the breakfast deal,,, it's awesome!
Thursdays are pretty busy and you might have to wait for 30-45mins.
Fridays are better

twaone

where is it located?
