Buying a piano

ChrisandrachelHolland

I am a keen pianist (Grade7 ) and currently have a small keyboard.  I would like to buy a digital piano (which I assume is more practical than an acoustic one in this climate).  Can anyone recommend a good shop in Malta/Gozo and pass on any tips about pianos in general in the Maltese islands?  Would be most grateful.

Would highly recommend http://www.olimpusmusic.com/ very helpful. Also they will advise you how to reclaim the VAT and complete the relevant paperwork for you.

Thanks, Darryl.  How are we eligible to claim back VAT?

Wow!  This is very generous of the Maltese government.  I'm all in favour of encouraging musicianship at all ages.

As long as you have a Malta residence card you just send off the form that the shop gives you (or the one that has already been posted on this topic) along with a receipt to the IRD and a few months later you'll receive a cheque for the VAT amount.
