Adapting to the climate in Laos

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

Adjusting to new climatic conditions is key in any expatriation process. Moving to Laos is no exception.

What are the climate characteristics of Laos?

How does the local weather impact your daily life, mood or health?

What are the pros and cons of the climate in Laos?

Share you advice and help people adapt quickly to their new weather environment.

Thanks in advance,

Priscilla

The climate is hot and humid. There is a wet season.

The climate does not affect me personally but for others it means time spent with air conditioning running in the car or at home. I prefer to use a/c sparingly as I find it is not good for one's health to go from an artificial climate into the heat and humidity.

I go walking but do this in the early morning before the day heats up. Cold showers during the day. Use fans.

There are swimming pools. We have a blow up pool which the kids, neighbor included (and my wife) love to fill and sit in.

Failing this one can always wander around the air conditioned shops or hang out in a bar drinking lovely cold beer Lao.
