I speak for myself yes, proudly so and our solution has worked. Research and not whinging and b*tching about other individuals misnomers, perhaps your own? As said if you make your bed then? Our situation was a choice. If you chose to live in an area with barking dogs then live with them, we all as said make our own beds.

BTW do you actually live here? The Philippines?

Cheers, Steve.

stop talking nonsense nobody chooses to live or there's noise, I'm in a new subdivision with a 3 million dollar hut, I think the least I can do is complain because I'm not in the middle of a purok as you seem to think. You are one of his expats who are right about everything and the others are idiots. I repeat it to you, there are laws and rules no matter where you live and you have to respect them, it is the good of the community that comes first. I repeat your corner the day a noisy neighbor settles you will do what? you will offer him vegetables so that he makes less noise, it is necessary to stop the bullshit, it is general here, and everyone suffers for 3 idiots who do not understand that they annoy everyone. Maybe it's a country that is developing but that doesn't mean that it won't change, it's just that we have to make sure that the rules are respected. If your solution suits you so much better but don't go telling people to do as you do it's bullshit. A subdivision has rules.

Nonsense maybe to some but not for the educated that chose not to live in a subdivision nor a condo, no where near a family or the communal compound simply because of the restrictions and dare I say ignorance for the rights of others (and that is the law here that few follow as you rightly point out) also living in these situations, their personal ethics or no,  perhaps your choice.
Our nonsense choice as you say whether right or wrong to date has no barking dogs and the prospective buyer of the lot next door will have to shell out 13M pesos for the privilege and another million to fill the low land.
Perhaps nonsense to your way of thinking but common sense for us. I didn't pick the area you "chose" only my own and I far from know all even after 9 years working and living here, plenty of mistakes along the way, It was a a huge decision to move here as I'm sure you went trough but to say I know all while only offering my experiences?

If you want to fight the neighbours and Barangay as a foreigner that chose to purchase/live where you are now?
BTW, how's it going so far? Not good if you are condemning our choice to spend a few extra bob more and be done with barking dogs, noisy karaoke, roosters, privacy, 4,200 pesos for Barangay rates, 240 pesos for garbage collection and living on the beach,,,,, God help us when the tsunami arrives. As said we all make our beds. Who let the Dogs out?

OMO.

Cheers, Steve.

They all have to spend 13 million dollars on a piece of land, that's it, but for sure it's wiser to buy a house worth 20 million dollars. Again you take your personal experience, nothing like the majority of expats who live here and can't afford it. I am 45 years old not 70. You have to be rich to live in the areas you are talking about, I am not. It's not a question of 100k or 200k pesos but more like 10 or 20 million.

I'll reserve my $$$ for the right opportunity & have got used to living with barking dogs.
This is NOT a problem for me anymore (suspect some of my neighbours might have poisoned those persistant barking dogs as it might have affected their sleep too)...my problem is dealing with poorly mannered/inconsiderate kids & adults.

There's a little bit of difference living from your country of origin compared to living in the Philippines. I heard in Switzerland you can be voted out of your village if you were one with undesirable behavior. That will not work in the Philippines. Some people might resort to retaliation if you complained too hard. Maybe making friends with the neighbor and then convince them to control their dog.

Aso adobo solves a lot of problems.

never heard that in Switzerland, an urban legend ca, as for the reprisal if you are afraid of everything then you don't do anything anymore. You know it's simple, don't confront the neighbor, I have a manager who manages these problems so it's up to him to do the job. I'm not going to suffer for the happiness of the neighborhood who is not even able to raise their heads and say hello when they meet. As I said, there are nuisances and nuisances, when a dog barks every 30 minutes at night it's no longer acceptable. We're talking about a subdivision, not a lost Purok where everyone does what they want. I have nothing against my neighbors and that doesn't prevent me from saying hello to them even if they don't answer me (mentality here) afterwards if they don't like me, it's reciprocal, I'm not here to love my neighbors and the mentality of some people doesn't make you want to.

They are not more grateful if you do something for them I can assure you.

Does anyone know if there is a law that can be enforced to make owners to control their dogs from barking??

I do not believe the cops will assist you with this problem.

There is a couple age old solutions:
1. Yell at the dog through your window.
2. Toss a shoe at the darn dog.

I looked up a product at a famous online store and found a product called dazer. The dazer produces a discomforting but not harmful high frequency sound audible to dogs but not to humans. If that does not work, toss the dazer at the dog.

here its not only dogs but even the cats make loud crying sounds like babies or like they are trying to talk human words, LOUDLY, for hours. dogs,cats,chickens...
any efforts to end it ,be it going to brngy hall or whatever will be met with laughter here.
its a fact of life like litter and burning plastic and trespassing and yelling and pissing in public or in front of your house or whatever, it is 'normal' here and will never change.
adapt, get used to it, or move to somewhere with huge lot and build a tall wall around it.

We are what we build or as others say "you made your bed".
While I can sympathise as I smelt some burning plastic or rubber a few days ago and the first time in 2 years, there was also a cat,,,,,, was.

Cheers, Steve.

Sounds like an HOA.

If there was such a thing in the Philippines, the dog owners would get a warning, if they don't comply they will be fined, if they don't pay the fine the HOA will put a lien on their house. And if aston76ge is the president of the HOA, he would foreclose and sell the property cheap to a relative.

Is my dream  :D
