Doesn't matter if they came from humble roots, money changes people, add some power in the mix and it makes a monster..... Sad, he once mentioned to my husband trying to joke but we could tell he was for real, he said," So far I haven't made any money off of you" What? What sort of friend sees others as a money tree?
One of the reasons I won't do business with friends any more.  Once money comes into it, then the whole relationship is on a different footing.  People lose perspective over what's important.
Exactly so.
In 1991 my husband worked with a HU guy in Ca.
The guy shared the shop with yet another HU guy , my husband worked as a sub contractor to the second man.
This other HU was older then my husband , single, never married and made very very good money as he had a very specialized skill that could not be copied.
He had trained in HU as a watch maker but became a grinder of delicate military parts.
He hand made ball bearing for the US Airforce they were super tiny and fit into the night vison goggles the pilots wore.
Once a buyer and he got into a fight and his contract was revoked. The buyer came back begging him to take back the job because in all of S. Ca. and other areas no one could reproduce such quality work.
The guy used to take exotic holidays to Africa for hunting etc. So yes he had a comfy lifestyle.
Long story I know.
We sold out house and the guy asked my husband to loan him $22,000 for him to pay off some back taxes.
My husband being the silly old fashioned guy he is said yes and closed the deal with a handshake.
He knew the man and said he was of good sounds state.
In exchange the guy gave my husband the pink slip ( owners papers) to a classic Jaguar car.
I was 100% mad but a hand shake is a handshake....
The deal was he would pay us back in 3 months and we would give back the pink slip.
The car wasn't even in our possession.
Ok, so we moved away to NM over 800 miles away from S. Ca.
Month or so went by and he sent us a dribble of money, like $7,000.
Then nothing and more of nothing.
I was getting stressed out because I had opened up a beauty salon and my husband a machine shop and we needed the funds to keep a float.
In the end we had to drive twice to court in S. Ca. to sue him.
He paid us back but a bit here and there just didn't cut it.
Later , years later he called up my husband to help him with a job, he did us right for once.
He paid my husband $100. an hour for over 30 hours of specialized machine work.
But still.. can't forget the stress of waiting for the mailman to post a check to us.
Now I never even loan a 5'er knowing that it probably won't come back to me.
It was horrible to have to sue a friend, he admitted it all in court.Even with is good paying work he had no money , probably because he wasted it all on himself and hunting big game in Africa.
Hate to say it but being a old single man, he was selfish, only had himself to think of
Read an article about a 70 year old Hungarian man in Los Angles who shot himself after a 4 hour police stand off.
The comments from people were sort of odd .
Comments ranged from "as a Hungarian I am embarrassed" to " The American Dream didn't work out for him".
People it seems are not seeing the big picture.
I will enquire to see if my husband may of even known this poor man.
My guess is at age 70 he may of been a "old timer" an immigrant to the US from many years back.
That he may of been suffering from health issues or a deep depression.
It's strange that "strangers" would take it personally just because he was the same nationality as them.
Dang, like everything to US gov does is my fault just because I happened by fate to be born in the US?
People dislike it when others stereotype them but when they do it to themselves, it's just very odd.

Money up front is the answer - fool me once, shame on me etc.  I usually work on the basis of trying to get it all upfront if I can and if I cannot, I ask for the amount which covers costs so even if it goes south, there's reduced exposure.  Rule of thumb I've used in the past was a 3-way split - 1/3 materials, 1/3 labour, 1/3 profit. So one needs about 70% upfront for break even. Everyone's mileage will vary.
I was watching a report on the Trump shutdown and people struggling paycheck to paycheck. Government job used to be lower paid but reliable. Obviously not now. Just shows you even "the man" can roll you over. In one report, I heard people were getting "blue" flu so they can be "sick" and available to work other jobs - presumably the "blue" refers to the colour of a uniform or something. One report said unpaid FBI agents are getting support at food banks.Â
Obviously no effect here so, meh, who cares, but I might care if international travel is hit. Trump is such a looney - the Supreme Court is rubbish too over transpeople in the military.  You'd think he'd have bigger things on his mind, like the shutdown and rubbing China up the wrong way with Huawei.

Tell me about it.Â
The amount of weird questioning I get over Brexit is something else.
I was at a social function in Africa which the French consul was attending. Â
Wasn't him so much as his wife who insisted on making me responsible for the whole thing!

My friend sent me this link yesterday.  Not casting judgement or taking sides, just saying it's an interesting commentary that this even exists:
Hungarian media mistruths
Mrs Fluffy has refused to read it as she says she'll be wound up too much.

I mentioned how funny the news translation of Varna's death was as they stated he was found on the floor in his bedroom by his "janitor".
Hmm, must of been a real messy guy to need his own janitor! Ha ,ha.
My husband said he wasn't a very nice guy to put it gently.
Was buddy-buddy with OV and maybe that lead to his demise... Who knows who cares.... He sure didn't care or would be crying for any of us regular folks.
Missed tickets for Billy Idol could try today to score some but not sure if it's worth the bother after all.
Expecting a mobile body mechanic today, yes the new door will not fit properly guess we need the frame pulled first... bummer there goes at least a few hundred bucks if we are lucky.
My DIL held the door in place for ever with the help of some car jacks.
She is strong, thankfully.

Aw, shame, I was hoping for an update on Mr Idol. He must be in his 60s now.
That's the problem with car doors (and house doors), they are really difficult to adjust if there's anything out in the rest of the car. Twists in the frame. or body work and it's all downhill from there. It's not always obvious if something is not lining up. It should just swing in and click without resistance or rubbing anywhere. Anyway, at least that's mechanical. I've spent hours looking for an electrical fault in some wiring in my house. Electrical faults are the worst thing. Sometimes there, sometimes not. In cars it's even worse.
As for Vajna, well, maybe it wasn't his "janitor" really but some kind of personal assistant. He apparently had a very young wife in her 30s he married in 2013. So she's going to get some serious inheritance. Don't know if he had any kids. Don't care really - pretty irrelevant to us mortals.
My husband thinks they may of had a pre- nup in Varna's case, they were "trying" to have kids but with her in CO. and him in HU it would be a dam miracle for that to happen.
Mobile man came, will be back soon t o pull the frame, My husband did a total Trump, "Art of the deal" with the guy for a decent cash price. Hope he returns as promised or else we wasted time doing allot of part removal on the car first.
If  a Hungarian can not work a deal then no one can.
Fingers crossed it will soon be fixed!
Went to the casino and decided to wait on trying to score tickets until Friday, last chance, too busy today with the car door, sucks to be a responsible person and take care of business before fun!

Cash is king as they say.Â
Shame still about Mr Idol but car doors mean potential cash so if it's Billy vs cash, then I (personally) would take the dough! Â
If it was someone like Elvis or AC-DC then I think the car door could live for another day. If it was Frank Sinatra or Celine Dion, I'd fix the door. I might waver at Barbra Striesand. BTW, why is she Barbra and not Barbara.Â
Mrs Fluffy and I always laugh at Frank's ridiculous song "When I was 17"...what an awful tuneless dirge.
I dunno if Trump is really a proper business man. He seems not to understand that politicians are not always motivated by money. And he hardly has made any money on the cash he inherited. I also reckon he thinks he's above the law. Cohen is now saying he was threatened by The Donald. How much BS can one person generate!
As for Vajna, maybe a turkey baster, some dry ice and a courier and voila, there's a kicsi Andras by post. Maybe there's a pre-nup, maybe not. They had 4 years or so to get it on. She'd have got a US passport out of it. Maybe that was the only deal.
Mobile body work guy came to the house, my husband worked out a deal and the car is done! looks brand new now.
Not sure if 4 years of marriage is enough to be a US citizen but money talks so maybe Varn'a wife got citizenship the day she signed her marriage papers. Not fair!
It would be standing room only with our free tickets to Billy Idol, about 2 hours long, Not bad but I hate standing room only, got smashed at a T-Rex concert when I was 15 in standing room only and found myself lifted by the crowd on stage in the middle of Bang- A- Gong... Weird experience.

T-Rex, now there's a blast from the past. Actually he was pretty good Marc Bolan and did some great tunes. Except he wasn't good at wearing a seat belt. I don't think I'd stand for 2h to watch Billy Idol. My back wouldn't take it.  Billy is a bit of a one hit wonder really. Â
Mrs Fluffy says Vajna's wife was working in Colorado as a model or something so wasn't living there permanently. News reports said he'd had multiple heart attacks and this is what could have done him in this time. In previous attacks he'd had someone with him and in this one he was alone so no-one saved him. The janitor is now being reported as a maid and she noticed something was up when he didn't come down for breakfast.Â
Cool on the door! Good to have closure.....so to speak.....or if you had a detective on it, it'd be an open and shut case....oh dear....
That's funny, love puns...
Model? Hmm, I saw a photo of his wife, not model material really besides like she needed the work?
Got some bad news this morning from my BFF in Ca.
Her long time boyfriend of over 35 years has prostate cancer and will be getting surgery this month and chemo.
She just finished up a 3 year court battle with her two older brothers over her mother's estate and now this.
He shares my BD but is only 62, no children, guess now he never will be a father.
I really am at a loss as to what to say to her except ,"sorry" which seems so shallow a saying.
I don't feel good about this, doctors can't be trusted really, I wish he had time to try some more gentle way to fight this besides becoming a eunuch.
He was joking with her that he is going to become another Katlin Jenner... Sad but funny, at least he has his humor about him. for now.
I hate feeling helpless to help my friends and family in need, can't fix this one on my own.

Shame to hear anyone has cancer. I believe 1 in 3 people will get it.Â
Having had some experiences via relatives in that body department myself, it would be highly unlikely Caitlyn Jenner will ever suffer from that particular disease as any gender based hormones she's on will shrink it right down as it does for hormone driven cancer. Â
Anyway, apart from his "jokes", prostate cancer is not testicular cancer so he's not going to end up a eunuch unless those go at the same time as any operation to remove the prostrate.  Â
He's a little on the old side but he and his other half could do fostering or adoption and "give" in that way. In some ways that could be seriously challenging but age and experience could be really helpful for some kids at sensitive ages.  At 62, I doubt I'd have the guts or stamina to do such a thing but maybe he and his partner do.Â
For many people, it's not the end of the world, not having your own kids.
I'm absolutely enjoying some schadenfreudethis morning.Â
I'm really surprised this morning over the arrest of Roger Stone, a key Trump ally and my surprise is really how weird the whole thing links into Julian Assange! I hadn't even thought Assange was connected to Mueller's investigation.
Roger Stone Arrested
This is a gift for Assange, he's going to be asked to testify and he'll be given immunity and the British will be pressured into dropping his arrest over violating his bail conditions.  Apparently there's someone else on this side of the pond - a journalist possibly - who is also involved.
Trump might be sandwiches short of a picnic but Pence is even more than pence short of a pound. He'd be in if Trump resigns.Â
How deep is this rabbit hole?!
i haven't read yet about Roger Stone, wow arressted,
The rabbit hole is deeper then any of us care to know about.
If we understood how dark and messed up and connected all gov. are to each other we would all be grabbing our pitch forks and out on the streets.
My friend's man will be getting surgically castrated... Sounds like a bad mental trip for him, yikes.
This will be going down in a couple of weeks, they are moving fast on this.
He was in hospital 3 weeks back and they set him up with a bag to relief himself.
She said he was so depressed that he just stayed in his room in bed for days after he was out of hospital.
It's so hard to take care of a ill person .
We were suppose to meet up for a fun visit but now, we will have to see what the future holds, not much fun when someone is so ill to have a good time and joke around.
Yes, I don't think they ever wanted children, no big thing really.
I sometimes wish I had been braver and had at least one more child because being a only child has made our son a bit selfish with everything.
He never had to share and was always the center of attention,
My mother warned me but you know how it goes, we never listen until it's too late.
My mother had her last 2 children at ages 44 and 46.
She was strong but when they became teenagers she said she was sometimes just too tired to deal with them.
She said she didn't have the strength to "kick their rear ends" like she did with her other 4 children. They were lucky!
fluffy2560 wrote:

Wheels of justice.... They turn slow..... Maybe too slow.
But that is just all IMHO.

That Sarah H(uckabee?) Saunders, the press secretary is out of her depth. She said she hadn't read the indictment and wasn't a lawyer but said it was nothing to do with the President. How can she say that if she hadn't read it?!

Oh, well, it must be all over the place then if the cojones are coming out too. Probably then the cancer is being driven by testosterone. They will put in plastic ones to give a reasonable appearance to the original. With that operation, they remove them up the inguinal canal along so that's fairly obvious scars. I can only wish him the best of luck. If they get it all, he's got a good chance of surviving a long time. Are you sure it's not testicular cancer rather than prostate? Has he got a cough? Cough (metastases to lungs) goes with testicular cancer spread.

I got 4 kids in total, 2 different sets.  Love them all! One of my siblings doesn't have any kids because the other half didn't want any. But I also know quite a lot of people in the same age range (early-mid 50s) who don't have kids either. I don't know if was a thing then. Their choice anyway.
Mrs Fluffy and I were late to the party - we were travelling all over the world - but we wondered about it for a while and then in a hiatus from international working we just said, bah, let's just do it and work it out afterwards - what can go wrong? And after that, another kid arrived on the same basis. We're not spring chickens either and I find now I'm also having a bit of a problem keeping up! I keep telling Mrs Fluffy it'll be worth it in the end...................probably............
My mom was allot better at letting off-spring go then I am.
My baby-bro was 22 when he married his high school sweetheart.
My mom attended his wedding then moved away to die, as hard as that sounds, it was the way she did it.
Said out loud that her job was done and she would go off and live her own life for once.
Sold her home and moved far away from all of us with her husband.
This "newer" generation seems to not want to fly the coop and parents like myself don't want to let them go off either.Guess seeing them off makes us feel old or something?
Then again having a nearly 43 year old gamer as a son makes one a bit uneasy... Living in a dream world half the time.
Out of the 6 of us kids only 3 had children of their own and all 3 grandchildren are only children. We really didn't replace ourselves in the population base.
Many of our HU friends from years ago are childless couples.
It was odd when my son was born because I was one of the youngest of our group of friends and the first to be a mom. I just turned 21 when my boy was born, missed out on the big drinking BD party, had a quiet time at home sorting baby clothing and getting ready for my new role in life instead of clubbing with friends like so many do these days who are much older then I when I changed my life forever.
Really if I was older I don't think I could do it, needed all my energy to care for my family all alone in Hawaii.
My own mom was too busy with her small children to run over and help me out.
The good thing was I had younger sibs and knew already what to do with a baby for the most part.
Poor little guy though, lucky he survived some of our care.
Sunburns in Hawaii on his delicate face, riding in a car with bad brakes on mountain roads in the back seat of a old car, beach days with my husband and his HU single male friends watching him, once the guys were making some hot Hungarian dish and one of those nuts let my one year old son eat a chllli pepper! I was a bit mad about that one!
I am afraid to ask my friend too many personal questions about her boyfriend's health right now.
I know he went to hospital a few weeks ago and they gave him a urostomy, drainage bag.
That has to play with your mind, horrible.
Good news for now... My BFF is planning on flying to Vegas soon at least for a good 24 hours.
We sort of need it,no one makes us laugh as much as we make each other laugh.
Not sure which of us needs a laugh more however.
Today my baby turns 43 years old!! Now I know what the expression, "Where did the time go" means.

Very cool. Probably your BFF needs the break.
I think everyone older knows time goes faster the older you are and if you're over about 55, it goes REALLY fast.  When you are a kid, everything takes ages.
So true, I couldn't wait to turn 16 .
Rember the times my sister and her husband would take me out with them in the late 1960's in S.Ca. He for a very short time was managing some rock bands and we would go see them play.
I was 15 years old and the clubs had a strict 21 rule to enter.
My sister would dress me up in her stylish clothing and do my makeup, hand me her college ID card with photo and I'd pass in the dark for 21.
good thing I was tall .
She would spend time making my eyes up and adding dark conture under my eyes to make me look older. Now days it all about the skin tone ,light reflecting under eye conture make up!!
Pretty soon I'll only be allowed out on Halloween!

Your sister and hubby were pretty cool to take you out. Presumably they hovered around acting as bodyguards. Those age restrictions are a bit ridiculous. I mean, if you can vote at 18 or serve in the army etc., it seems a bit ludicrous to try and restrict people in some randomly prudish way.
Being only allowed out at Halloween would be restrictive, you have to wait almost a year to go out now. Maybe just go out at night instead. It's what I do after sunset and I've arisen from my resting place....I don't have any mirrors or crosses either......(haha)....
My sister used to sleep with a garlic necklace around herself when she was 14-15 years old.
Before she discoverd boys... The smell was a repellant!
She believed in vampires, God knows she met enough of them in Hollywood after she turned 18.
Yes my sister and BIL were cool , almost too cool, they tried to get me to smoke with them when i was 12, Didn't do it,I never let people talk me into things i don't want to do or am not ready for.
I made a big mistake and told my eldest sister who of course squealed to mum and I was banned from age 12 to 14 from spending time with my sis and her husband, only could see them at my mom's home for 2 years.
I moved in with them in Hollywood in the summer of my 17th year. About 6 months with them .
They were parents but still wilder then heck, my niece can sleep through any noise, she grew up with the stereo blasting away as an infant.
I now know my parents were supporting me, giving funds to my sis and her husband for my upkeep, I never saw a dime of it though, we ate allot of hamburger helper meals, think they spent the money my mom gave them on going out and having fun instead of feeding me 3 square meals a day.
Never had any food in the house except for pre packed cakes and snacks for my BIL... Hmm, makes one wonder why he always had the munchies.
I probably could of done just about anything I wanted to when I lived with them as a teen but I'm not actually as wild and crazy as some of my stories are.
I have my feet on the ground at all times.
I basically raised my toddler niece for those 6 months myself, someone had to be a "grown up".
Guess that's why now as a grown women she goes out of her way to see me when I'm in town and always makes sure I am taken care of, rides, money whatever I need she gets for me, sweet, she treats me like her second mother.
She treats me better then my own son does.
Of course spoiling a child never pays off, they think it is normal for their parents to bend over backwards for them all the time.
It's all good though.
My son is moving to Japan soon and it may be a very long time before I see him in the flesh again.
Sort of sad and sort of exciting for him at the same time.
I have no big plans on visiting Japan but perhaps he may find himself in Hungary sooner or later.
It's sometimes hard to be a family person when your family is scattered all over the world.
Perhaps we didn't do such a bad job with our son after all considering he is not afraid to try new things and new places.

Difficult to know how to support your child without spoiling them. When does it stop and start. They are really very good at nagging parents for what they want as well. Total manipulators and we're quite good at being mugs.
Maybe like you say, your son is a success story for you two as parents and him as offspring. He's got himself a partner, is going out to the big wide world for an adventure, maybe get some kids. All cool.
But going back in time to our purpose fundamentally (not withstanding anything else we do), that's the job really isn't it? Getting the next generation underway and perpetuating the species. Â
Mrs Fluffy and I have a discussion often if we're just a type of animal or not. I think we're animals but she thinks we're not. I think she believes were not like dogs or cats who are instinct led but I've read fairly recently that animals are now known to have personalities which makes them unique as well. Makes all those animal studies a bit wrong then.
I know, just to think only one generation back my father's family lived in the same small village in Poland for over 300 plus years and now we are scattered all over the world.
In some ways it would of been nice to live next door to my siblings my entire life, know all my cousins like close family and then again, knowing how odd ball some of us are, it's great that we only hook up every few years and only do FB.
No perfect answers in life.
It snowed here in Vegas yesterday, still have a bit of powder on the roofs of the houses, should be melted very soon as the sun is out and it's warming up.
Called up my BFF in S. Ca,
Her husbands prostate cancer has not spread!
Great news.
They were discussing coming to Vegas to visit us when he suddenly felt very ill on Sat.
My BFF drove him to the hospital although he only wanted to go to a local clinic.
He couldn't breath very well but refused to go by ambulance( why are guys so stubborn at times?)
While waiting in the ER he almost passed out from lack or air, they rushed him into the room and started to give him some oxygen.
My BFF was following him into the room when she found herself on the floor with 4-5 people standing over her.
She passed out from the stress.
They put her in the bed next to her husband!
She made it sound like a comedy skit with her humor but dang, that was some bad stuff going on.
She had not eaten or drank anything all morning long and seeing her husband in distress was too much for her.
A few hours of rest and a sandwich and she was alright.
Her husband is still in the hospital though.
Guess their visit will have to be postponed...
Her husband was given a pneumonia shot a couple weeks back and that's what he has, pneumonia.
Guess those vax's are dangerous after all.
The cure will kill you before the disease does.
Just sold a really really great running car to a older man this afternoon.
Invited him in for a cuppa since it's rather chilly here in Vegas and he took a 2 hour bus ride to look at the car.
The public transportation isn't as good as in Hungary, can take hours and several connections to get around Vegas.
Why didn't we offer to pick him up? Well...so many fake calls from odd people here in Vegas, we were not sure he was for real or not. No time to waste on a troll, thankfully he was a normal person.
Sad that society has gotten this way.
As we chatted over the tea he mentioned he used to be a biker in FL. and also a biker in S. Ca. with the Hell's Angels... Wow never would of guessed.
Hope the car does him well as I don't wish a biker crew coming around to collect!!!
He mentioned he had a bad heart and was in hospital a month back.
I mentioned that it's not easy to get older and that my BFF and her husband were both in hospital beds in the ER at the same time last Sat.
He said last month the same thing happened to he and his wife!! They were in beds next to each other in the ER here in Vegas.
His heart was acting up and she passed out.
Wow, I knocked on the wood table to break the curse of the romantic shared hospital experience, is that what older people have to look forward to?
The guy was younger then my husband but told us his hard biker past had aged him fast.
Whatever,,, just hope those hospital trips do not come in threes!!

I know the feeling about aging fast. I got a call from a woman with a thick Spanish accent. I couldn't understand a word she said. I've noticed it's hearing that is going - when the person has a strong accent, the line is not good or there's a lot of background noise. It's clear it was all those rock concerts I went to back in the stone age - at least one a week - and I was at the front pogo'ing when pogo'ing was a thing. I used to come out with my ears buzzing/ringing - a sure sign of damage. I should get them tested but I know what the outcome will be. Maybe later.
I also had the bike, the leathers but wasn't in a gang except with my friend from college. A gang of two. And if he wasn't there, a gang of one. And if my GF was there, perhaps a gang of 1.5. If the dog was there as well, call it a gang of 1.75. But I digress....
I don't find the idea of romantic hospital experiences but my Mum is in hospital and she really wants to get out of there. She's not able to get comfy in there and not enjoying the experience if you can enjoy anything when you're sick.
Sorry to hear your mom is in hospital, they are never comfy even if one has a private room.
Had my hearing tested in Hungary a couple years back. The women told me that it had been years since she tested anyone with hearing as good as mine BUT I still can't understand some people when they are on the phone or in some cases even in person.
Nothing wrong with my hearing something wrong with they way they slur and mumble and swallow their words.
I booked seats on our upcoming flight back to HU.
The women was helpful but sorry to say she had some sort of hard to understand UK accent.
I was nice but had to come right out and tell her I couldn't hardly understand every second word she spoke.
Why do they hire people with heavy, odd accents to work on the phones?
Growing up my mom always made us speak up and clear, she said it was a sign of good manners to not mumble around, it makes one appear weak or not confident to swallow your words, people do not enjoy listening if it is confusing for them either.I can ramble on but I do not mumble about.
She gave me the seat number I wrote it down and when I checked online with the airlines it was 8 rows different, couldn't understand the way she said 30 or 38.
At least they are OK seats... Still WTF??
I remember going to concerts and my ears ringing for hours afterwards.
My bro has lost most of his hearing in one ear, he is an airline mechanic and hurt his ears in the USAF with those loud jet engines.
Had my driving papers redone here in the US just to have them updated for the next 8 years. Need to wear corrective glasses to drive now!!! Will not really be driving in HU at all so really not a bother for me.
It was fun to drive here though, during the day when I could see alright that is.
I called my bank in the UK and it was a call centre in India. I couldn't understand a word. I'm pretty good with accents but not with this fella. I asked for someone else in the end.
SimCityAT wrote:I called my bank in the UK and it was a call center in India. I couldn't understand a word. I'm pretty good with accents but not with this fella. I asked for someone else in the end.
Been there many times as well.
I can not make out Indian accents for the life of me, they speak way too fast and eat their words too much.
No offense, my cuz was married for 45 years to a man from India and her girl married a guy from India who she met at the London School of Economics, they just had a little Indian boy baby and my cuz is off to India this year with them to show him off to her deceased husband's family.
My cuz is about 5'2" tall and blonde and blue eyed but relates to being an Indian herself.
I've had to ask to speak to a supervisor more then once when the operator had a heavy Indian accent.
Once my HU husband got on the phone to speak to the guy from India and said to him, "Dude, I have an accent too but you're too much".
Speaking of "weird" accents...
On our long haul flight back to HUÂ a few days ago, we paid extra for "choice seats.
Last time over to the US we weren't able to book seats within the 24 hours before the flight because the web site was not working with BA , we got stuck in different rows in the middle section between 32 DRUNK young Swedish men.
Didn't want a repeat so we paid for our seats in advance, plus for all of our checked baggage.
Next trip anywhere I will not try to save a buck only to wind up having to pay extra anyways for seats and bags.
Ok so we paid for the seats but some guy sitting behind my husband had big thick long legs ( wore shorts too, wish I hadn't of seen that!)
When my husband tried to put his seat back to take a nap the guy started mumbling in some sort of accent.
I turned to hear him and told my husband he was hitting the dudes legs with his seat so he should put it up. I for the very life of me still have no clue if he was speaking English or not, think so but from where only his mother would know.
Ok so lost out on that "deal" still got a lousy seat situation, not sure why the cheapo guy didn't buy a seat for his extra big legs but he may of been a "Scot" as they say here in HU.
My husband left for Japan with his wife 5 days before we flew to HU.
He wanted a nice comfy fun flight so booked with Korean Air and paid over $3,000 for their trip from Las Vegas to Japan.
They had nice seats and were allowed 2 23 kilo bags each plus carry on bags for their fare.
All good went through customs with their cash to declare it so no hassles and just a relaxing time.
Flew for a good 5 hours when they had an emergency landing in some abandoned airport in Alaska. Placed in some old airport hanger with cobwebs and nothing inside.
Were all bused hours later to a hotel with no food, son and his wife walked to where they heard there might be a place to eat.
Not really, off in a snow storm with light jackets on to only be able to share a Subway sandwich, all there was to buy.
Took him another flight out and another unexpected over night stay in yet another hotel to finally reach Japan 3 days later.
I do wonder if besides them putting everyone up in hotels if there is any comp. they could or should expect from the airlines for such a delay?
Poor kids, maybe it is nothing more then another chapter in life, hard these days to get what one even pays for.

You should try www.seatguru.com. You can check out which are the good and which are the bad seats. It's quite good but as I travel a great deal, I usually get to know which plane layouts are good seats. I always select the same seats everytime if I can.
Aarrghh....seat recliners....Your hubby must be the guy who is always sitting in front of me who puts his seat back. I'm not that small so I get my tray table shoved into my stomach and the headrest cm from my head which means I cannot even watch the movie in the seat back (10cm from my head) or on my mobile phone. Eating is almost impossible. It all just makes me so claustrophobic and I'm not a person who actually feels claustrophobic that much.  Luckily on many of the lower cost airlines, none of these seats recline. Great idea!
What I do now when faced with a potential inconsiderate recliner is a bush fix. I get the airline magazine(s), roll them up and try to jam across the hinged part so the seat cannot recline. It can work quite well although a persistent recliner can wiggle the seat to loosen the magazine. There's a sweet spot where you can stop it effectively.
But more professional travellers than me use Knee Defenders. I've thought about getting some.
I do understand your issues with reclining seats but this plane was so old that the seat only went back a couple of needed inches.
I'd love to "torture" the idiot who decided to make a profit by changing the already limited space on flights.
Not everyone gets a business comp or has thousands of dollars, Euros etc. to waste on a business class seat.
My bro who works for American Airlines as a mechanic warned me several years back that they were moving the formation of seats to make more $$ for the airlines.
I can still in the far recesses of my mind remember flying in the 1970's when we actually were treated like valued customers and actually had some leg room.
No, this guy was a "freak show" no question", he should of done his ,Man splaying" thing since he wished to have enough leg room for his deformed body type.
My son is 6'3" tall , much taller then this,"gent" was and he has no serious issues flying.
My son did say however that has a taller then average person on most flights to Asia, he rarely has to ask for a special seat, they usually just give it to him because that's the way they roll.
He is also a skinny minnie and isn't so heavy that he can't adjust himself to fit into a normal seat.
I dislike flying allot but this time wasn't so bad, thank goodness for my "cookies"!!
Helped me sleep most of the flight, so nice to pass out cold and only woke up when they are serving breakfast and the sun is out.I was like, wow were here already!
Seems they are more interested in liquids then "greens" these days.
We opted in Vegas for the physical search rather then getting rads, in London they told us we had to wait at least 20 min. for a body search . Not cool because they had our carry ons on the other side already. On the short flight from the UK to Hu I sat next to a HU couple. The well groomed man was in his late 50's and the women perhaps in her late 30's. What a pair of "love birds" taking selfies together. All was good Until the women who sat next to me started to hum for the longest time to herslef, what a weirdo! I was way beyond being sober to say anything, just munched into my cookie which surprise no one even noticed! Nice undercover thing to be a "sweet old lady" just munching on her tiny snack!
I guess Stoners never die, they just fade away...
I do think it is a conspiracy to force people to go through the body scans.
I went through in order to not let our belongings sit unattended for 20 or more mins. on the other side of security. In Vegas we both did the physical body search. They did hubby really fast but as they love to mess with people, in my case they dragged it out, took the longest time to get to me on purpose I do think. They would freak the heck out of more people said no to getting radiated by the scans so they make it hard to get a body search. So obvious it isn't funny.
Really mad about that thinking it over now.
People just walk through the body scans like it has no health issues, I'm 100% sure it isn't a healthy thing to do.
Marilyn Tassy wrote:Yes, I do believe the chemtrail conspiracy.
I know sounds lame but why on earth are there jets crisscrossing the skies all the time.
Don't have too many in Budapest, maybe 2 or 3 in the mornings but anyone coming from Las Vegas has to be blind not to have noticed a checker board pattern in the skies, a dull headache and general lethargic feeling most days.
I asked my airline mechanic bro about them, he laughed at me and said it was just condensation from large amounts of planes that are in the skies at all times.
All I know is when I was a teen I'd often go to the park, lay down on my back on the grass and meditate while looking at the clouds, ( Daydream believer?)
The skies do not look a thing like they did 50 years ago.
I know the BIO shops in HU sell organic apple cider vinegar, bought some for 1,400 forints in a herb/tea shop near the large market hall but have since found anohter source at the BIO shop for less then 1,000 and that brand comes in a glass bottle, the other was in plastic which isn't that great.
It seems easy enough to produce your own but it takes several months to ferment and you need organic apples.
I suppose this should be moved over to "anything else".
Brought over from here: cross thread link
Planes: I think you only have to go to www.flightradar24.com to see why the planes are crossing the skies. It's a business like buses and trains and it's people travelling here and there for whatever reason. Your Bro is right, it's just condensation. They aren't flying backwards and forwards, it's just they fly in lanes at different altitudes aka airways. This is how they maintain horizontal and vertical separation for safety. Why would they be spewing out chemicals at high altitude other than travel and possibly say cloud seeding. Kerosene (aka jet fuel) produces huge amounts of water when it's burnt. Nothing special going on!
Vinegar: I think it's probably like brewing. Needs all that sterilisation equipment. I suppose soy sauce is also produced by similar methods. Says "brewed" on my bottle anyway!
IDK but in the skies I see planes going up and sideways for what appears to be no normal flight pattern, but then again I've been wrong about allot of things.
I do know the skies are no longer blue with big white puffy clouds.
My son and I have even convinced my husband that the're are spraying, who knows for now exactly why but I personally believe they are and it's not for our good
One of my many "quirks" think the gov is against us all.
Perhaps they are covering up something in the skies that they do not wish us to see or know about?
Soy sauce, I'd would of never of thought there were so many different kinds with different quality.
Having a Japanese DIL has shown me that not all soy sauces are the same.
So much for your basic Kikkoman grocery store brand.
Can't even use that low quality sauce any longer.
Suppose it is like paprika, once you have some good stuff you can't go back to Shilling brand from your local Walmart.
Thanks for moving the post over, I do tend to ramble on at times.

Well, yes and no....Â
I usually just put some of my grape juice in a clean and sanitized (not sterilized - which is different) carboy, stick cotton in the opening, and let it be for about 6 months (in the kitchen, not the wine cellar). The mother of vinegar eventually shows up.
I have had some vinegar go "bad" with Acetaldehyde, but more work than don't.

Oh.... yes they are. The chem trails help hold up the sky. The government is saving us all from the sky falling.
The government "Sky Support Program" (SSPÂ -- is part of the US Department of the Exterior) is actually helping us. But the government knows if they made it public knowledge that the sky is falling, there would be world wide panic and chaos. Because no one trusts the government to keep the sky from falling -- even if they have been doing exactly that since 1952.
In other words, why does everyone with a conspiracy theory assume the government is against us all? Maybe it is the opposite..... Something to think about (if one is into conspiracy theories that is).
P.S.Â

Mein Gott, you have uncovered the Area 51 conspiracy called Project Chicken Little. Â
If you speak about it again, the guys in the black suits, sunglasses and earpieces in the black Escalade will be coming from you. Will your Mother of Vinegar help you then?
I guess that's what the SSN is, Sky Support Number? How they track dissenters maybe?

Chemtrails: You're not a flat earther or vaccine denier was well? Flat earth is less dangerous than anti-vaccine hold outs. Chemtrails, not sure where that comes on the conspiracy continuum. Probably harmless.Â
Soy Sauce: Yes, Kikkoman was the one I was looking at. We have a green top "light" version. I've seen many other types as well but I don't know what the aficionado's version would be.
Paprika: Actually I love local paprika, but actually I haven't really found HU smoked paprika on a par with the ones I can buy in the UK. That's probably heresy.
