Thats kind of different, not a total ban of using VPNs but only if you are trying to use it for banned Apps.
-@SimCityAT
Kinda broad - use legalisation as wish type.
Anyway technicaly I don`t see a feasable way to execute such: KNOW when someone uses VPN - used to what after someone connected (VPN services worldwide).
If they meant: US VPN servers only then simply pointless: they already report all, and deliver the data to all agencies into big data. Also shared that with all the 14 eye.
One of the reason I have said: VPN is tricky and can be a false illusion of privacy/ safety.
But legalisation is just a plan in this stage.
-@sjbabilon5
You don't know they report everything.
Principle is that government (in rule of law countries) cannot conduct random fishing expeditions without due process of some kind.
If one wants to be worried about something, best to think about Chat-GPT. This is being integrated into MS Office. That means MS will be trawling through all your work output as well in an attempt to "help" you.
I can see this being a serious threat to privacy and possibly a threat to justice or even world financial systems. I can envisage many scenarios where MS obtains access to privileged information - from legal appeals to market interventions. It's a step too far. I'm thinking regulation has to be the next step before Chat-GPT gets too integrated.
At the moment, my experiments with it has shown (to me), it's no serious threat at all as a standalone system. In fact, it gets huge amounts wrong. It's a GIGO system - Garbage-In Garbage-Out. But it's getting better by the day.
I think vampires are just your everyday narcissist personality.
We all have narcissist traits but most people try to keep it under control.
Social vampires are the worst.
They only enjoy themselves when others are down or they think they have the upper hand even with the most minor of things.
Easily offened people usually are overly narcissist.
My father was a narrcissist person while my mother was an emphath.
Any emphath with an ounce of self confidence wakes up sooner or later and has to cut the narrcissit person out or suffer for it.
-@Marilyn Tassy
Mrs Fluffy mentioned energy vampires the other day. I always thought this was just in the TV comedy show "What we do in the Shadows" (excellent btw). I didn't realise people use the description day to day here.
To save time, I asked Chat-GPT various questions about vampires as narcissists - here's what it said below. I tried to get it to imply that DT was a vampire because (ergo and vice-versa etc) he's a narcisssist. It didn't entirely support me but didn't do badly!
Q: Are vampires narcissists? If so give an example of a real person possessing these traits.
A: As I mentioned earlier, vampires are fictional characters and do not have a psychological makeup in the same way that humans do. However, some fictional depictions of vampires do exhibit traits that could be considered narcissistic, such as a thirst for attention and admiration, a sense of superiority over others, and a lack of empathy.
In terms of real people who exhibit these traits, it's important to note that narcissistic personality traits are not the same as a narcissistic personality disorder, which is a clinical diagnosis that can only be made by a qualified mental health professional. However, there are individuals who exhibit narcissistic personality traits, such as an inflated sense of self-importance, a need for admiration and attention, and a lack of empathy for others.
One example of a real person who has been described as exhibiting narcissistic personality traits is former U.S. president Donald Trump. Trump has been accused of having an inflated sense of self-importance, a need for constant attention and admiration, and a lack of empathy for others. However, it's important to note that it is not appropriate to diagnose anyone with a mental disorder or condition without proper evaluation and diagnosis by a qualified mental health professional.
It seems Marilyn, you hit the nail squarely on the head there!
When it comes down to Trump, you don't need to be a qualified mental health professional, you can see for yourself. The speeches he gives at his rallies and the interviews he gives. He is really not right in the head.

ChatGPT always caveats stuff when it decides it's an opinion. Its output is very dependent on the right question.
The Teflon Don is going to be indicted over Stormy Daniels "hush" payments - just been on the radio. It's going to be interesting. I'm looking forward to this indictment going to court and see him doing the perp walk etc.
It might be a test of his "shoot someone on 5th Avenue" theory that it won't make any difference to his election chances. If he's found guilty, he could be banged up (4 years max) but more likely fined. Makes you wonder what the MAGA people will make of it. He'd be a convicted state felon (albeit at low level). Would they support a man convicted on criminal charges? Who knows? DT is already spinning it as some kind of radical left witchunt run by George Soros apparently - how ridiculous.
Stormy is going to testify if necessary. She's conducted herself with some grace during this process. She's clearly got some talents other than the physical.
Trump's also still got those election charges in Georgia and other places to face.
VPNs are illegal (or their use is restricted) in:
China (heavily restricted)
North Korea (illegal)
Iraq (illegal)
Belarus (illegal)
UAE (legal with restrictions)
Egypt (legal with restrictions)
Turkey (legal with restrictions)
Russia (legal with restrictions)
I really can't see VPN's being banned in the USA. Do you have a link to that YouTube Video @Marilyn?
-@SimCityAT
I don't have a link but can refer you to the U tubber who brought it up on his channel.
He is a bit loud at times, honest and angry, also a Christain but doesn't get into it that much. More like a prepper.
He had 2 degrees but became an insurance salesman. ( makes me wonder about him at times)
My son turned us onto him a few years ago, first it was funny because he gets so angy but now I do think he is trying to alert people to the BS.
The Fullerton Infomer is his channel on U tube.
Once you get past his wild hairstyle and screaming he has allot to say.
I caught a video last night on U tube about restrictions that may be passed in the US to make having a VPN illegal!
It is bill,S-686 also called the Restrict Act.
Seems freedom to be private is going to be a thing of the past if this bill passes.
The fine they propose is 20 years in jail and a million dollar fine for clicking a button on your computer in you own home or business!
It seems too crazy to believe.
It seems they are going to scrub the internet and remove infomation.
If this is even thought of in the USA what is the rest of the world going to experience?
Reality is the new sci-fi.

Things like: log in to email/ social media using VPN =
Any defense/ measure just as much secure as the one who uses it.
BTW there is actually no effective way to restrict/ block/ ban anything country wide.
A few countries tried which often lead to epic fails - like when they tried in Russia, and millions of users just acccidentally get aware of "measures" years later by news - oh government really tried something - did not even notice.
What regular folks call internet actually called "clear"net and it is 2-5% of the real internet.
BTW 2:
The USA have the largest prison population on planet Earth already.

The only one "close" to it at least in % is Turkmenistan.
So if they wanna enlarge it with en masse 20 years sentences just became larger.

I've been aware we live in a Matrix since I was a child but didn't have a word for the conditioning we all go through.
Starts at birth and they really get you once they pull you away from your parents and place you in a re education center known as a school.
We all have been taught so many lies most of us don't even know where to start to find any truth in this world.
Almost everyone has been taught to have a me first attitude and not to learn to love or care about anyone but their own little circle.
We, well most of us understand but don't really live by the reality of knowing we all are just cattle ready for the slaughter house at any time we no longer are useful to the system.
We all watch our,"channels" on the black mirror called a tv set and we all are "programed" by the matrix.I am amazed how readily people are to pay to carry a black mirror in their hands now at all times.
No need to try to hide with a VPN since people are so willing to be tracked and traced, even willing to have their children be part it by giving them their own personal sycying mirrors, oh, I mean cell phones.
Sooner or later there will be no need for a cell phone, once you line up and get yourself chipped they will know everything at all times about you from your heart rate to what you are thinking at any given moment. People will line up like they did for the shots just to feel safe and trust the science.
BTW, I'm not paranoid at all.
He won't be able to do that with the cuffs on

Chief clown is already centre stage and ready to perform.
I cannot see him doing time unfortunately. He'd have the Secret Service doing time with him. I don't think they'd want that job. Maybe he could do house arrest for 6 months minimum. Or a fine and on parole.
I reckon Stormy is going to have a (ghost written) multi-million dollar book deal. She's coming out on top - so to speak. We know she's $130K richer.

I don't think he'll do time for it either. I reckon he'll be fined. But he'll have a criminal record which is rather interesting.
It would be hard to see how MAGA supporters can look at him and say, I support a rule/law breaker. Bit of a dilemma for them.
The other cases are more serious than this one and could see him doing time for the election offences. If he was convicted and was sitting in the White House, I wonder if he'd have to service his sentence and term from behind bars. I am thinking he's got no chance of being re-elected.
One has to wonder how gormless the Republican Party will be in selecting him as their candidate.
It'd be like selecting Boris as candidate (again) for PM - no-one believed his testimony (straw poll via show of hands on BBC Question Time showed no support for his evidence).
Anyways, it's a real Trump media circus. Normally I'd run away from this kind of thing but as it's Donny, I think I want to see how this particular soap opera plays out. I don't think it's going to be televised which is a shame. I'd like to see Gary Lineker doing the highlights MoTD style.

Anno there was a book "the science of manipulation" which summed up properly:
The system always needs people with mediocre informations and sources, mediocre or less quality of education because they can be manipulated the best, also fanatized for supporting a given narrative.
Any given system affraid of predominantly from people who have either plenty informations (very rare), or minimal/ no informations at all. They cannot be manipulated, but live in reality and act accordingly.
Example:
Try to send an average feminist to explain to a tribal member in Congo about "harassment" or any of their nonsense as they talk about that in the US.

My American friend said to me previously:

Cannot really argue with that!
Just as an aside, UK had Boris who was born in NYC so I guess he's included too. I'd hate to say he's OUR idiot as that would lump us all in with him. I used to like the guy but since Brexit, I've got less positive opinions on him. I am not even sure Lucifer will be happy to see him either at the end of days. Hell isn't hot enough.

Yes, I saw that earlier today.
I cannot see the ban working for long.
I notice it's popped up in the latest Skype menu under the guise of the Bing search engine. It looks like you can remove it from the menus but I expect it's still working in the background looking at all your conversations and reporting back to MS so they can share it with their friends. Looks like a massive problem looming for MS over privacy. MS paid $10B for ChatGPT. Their investment could be a temporary dud.
The Italian latest version of Skype will presumably be banned as well. The regulator fine will be huge as it's based on worldwide turnover.

I can't even open this up because my BP will hit the ceiling.
I no longer have a dog in my life but I get so upset when I see animal abuse.
I still am upset over a situation that went on with my Doberman when he was a year old.
I purchased him from a Doberman resuce with the promise to have him neutered at one year old.
For large breed dogs I was told it's best to wait until they fully develop before getting that surgery.
Smaller breeds can do it sooner but the physicall development of larger breeds is different.
My Doberman was a beauty but he was probably from old German stock, not a tiny boned show dog but a large working dog.
They breed out the larger dogs for shows, like them to be more slim and delicate.
Well, I was ready to take him in for his surgery when a Hungarian <"friend?" of ours got my husband all excited about a neighbor of theirs female Doberman being in heat.
Everyone thought it was a shame not to try to have a litter with my Dobbie because he was so pretty, nice face, strong ,long legs etc.
I had a big issue with my husband taking our dog 2 times to make his "love visit". Our Hungarian friends were in kahoots with their neighbor it turns out.
They also had a female Doberman but she was too much of their little princess for them to have her breed with any dog.
My husband left our Doberman overnight to do his thing with that older Dobbie female of that neighbor.
I was very upset, like my own child was being used .
Well our HU friend and that neighobr of theirs all told us there were no puppies ever. It didn't work out.
Found out later they all lied, we should of had first choice for pick of the litter.
I am more upset to think my beloved dogs children might of been sold to animal abusers then the fact we were used as a stud farm.
I had my dog, fixed ASAP after that and never trusted those HU friends again. Sad thing to say is years later they moved back to Hungary and took their Dobbie female with them. She was ,"attacked " by a band of wild male dogs and had an abortion.
Poor thing, they should of been more careful with her care and who she hung out with.
Dogs are like children to some of us.
I still have a sore spot about that entire affair when i think about it. Happened a good 30 years ago too.
My sister in Minn. has taken upon herself to round up all the stray cats she can find and take them into the vet to get fixed. She even pays for some medical treatmnts for them such a eye infections etc.
IDK, takes all sorts of people, some use animals and some really do care about them.
I am trying to stay nutural about them because I'm not willing to get emtionally involved any longer.

I think our own dog came from a puppy farm somewhere East of Budapest. Forgotten where.
The guy had 3 or 4 female dogs continuously pregnant. Lots of puppies running about in like a per dog fenced area, one per Mum and her set of puppies.Â
This was about 5 years ago before we knew anything about this kind of illegal puppy farming.
We had never been to a dog breeder before so we didn't know what to expect. Looking back on it, conditions were reasonable but we didn't see the puppies out of the fenced area in the garden. Presumably they never made it out of the caged enclosure.
It was not clear at all how it all worked.  It seems to me looking back on it should be regulated and licensed.
We send our dog to kennels when we travel and cannot take her with us. They seem very responsible. We get photos each day of our dog enjoying itself with other dog friends in a large fenced area.Â

Yeah that is always tricky to execute fines for international corporations.
Various countries tried google for example.
IDK it's confusing at times about how the breeding of animals should be controlled.
Whenever money is involved things get tricky.
Horse racing and bredding for example.
If money wasn't involved I wonder how many people would be breeding horses.
Dog breeding is big money too.
Regualting it can also have allot of corruption involved, pay off's etc.
Then if it's not regualted people would overbreed and breed to closely with the same DNA strains.
Makes me think of the Hasburg jaw, too much interbreeding there.

-@sjbabilon5
I actually think it's in their business model. Â
The Italian move is on breaches of the GDPR. Ireland is the coordinating country in the EU for this kind of action. MS is being investigated because of privacy concerns.
But the case against MS AI doesn't really discuss - as far as I know from media reports - the issue of milking private user data to train the AI itself. This in itself, is an outrageous and uncontrolled deep dive into private information. Presumably it's reporting all that back to Redmond (MS HQ).
I've been having a discussion with one of my friends who is into this in a big way with academic work and the discussion has moved into regulation not being possible because the tech will be used by countries like Russia, China, Syria, North Korea etc for augmenting their state controls. They don't care about GDPR.
There are also multi-billion suits going on in the UK against Google for loss of advertising revenue because Google has a dominant position. Nothing to do with AI as such but totals are past $15B or so. It's not a lot of money for them to pay out in fines.
IDK it's confusing at times about how the breeding of animals should be controlled.

Yes, those ears... Prince Charles could pick up satellite signals from the outter limits with those flappers.
I knew a guy in beauty school with ears like that,he wasn't a millionair but he was saving up to get surgery to have them pulled back a bit.
I suppose at the level of being a, "royal" they don't feel insecure about their looks or lack of looks like us common folk do.
When you have a servant titled,"groom of the stools" I suppose you are living at a different level for sure!
I once was verbally attacted by a strange women inside a Gelsons grocery store in Encino, Ca.
She just walked up to me and demaded the name of who ever did my nose! I was taken aback, I was born with what I have with no help from plastic surgery.
For good or bad, that's it folks.
She just shook her head in anger and said well keep it to yourself then.
What can I say?
My step-dad had a huge straight long nose, he had it smashed in a motorbike accient and had to have it redone.
They made it smaller but one would never know it had been shortened. Some faces look better with large noses while others need a smaller honker. It's all about balance.

We send our dog to kennels when we travel and cannot take her with us. They seem very responsible. We get photos each day of our dog enjoying itself with other dog friends in a large fenced area.

MS long since do the collecting and straight back door contracts with for example NSA.
With win 10 and since it is just became more visible/ people more aware.
As for me I don't trust in any megacorporations.
Win10 considered a spyware and treated as such, google empire as collect whatever it can, even consider their "secure" services like gmail as public.
Amazon empire I did ban altogether, with all of it's sub services, Facebook empire: exactly the same: includes all scripts and even soc. media sharing possibilities. Also banned: paypal services, arbnb, similars - more or less most of the big tech which based in Silicon Valley.
AI is interesting - already used WW.
A few years back I did participate in some ML and combined neural networks with common human ethology/ psychology.
To train chatbots to speak was interesting/ new just untill cc. 5 years ago.
As for fines for big tech I don't see any effective way to enforce it.
Off course wen the very corporation have offices/ subsidies/ workforce in the exact country some measures caqn be done, but not in that worth.
April Fools Day: is cancelled this year because no made up prank could match the unbelievable shit going on in the world right now!

You should substantiate your claims for the NSA etc.  I mean links to trusted sources, not some opinionated person off YouTube or some nutter's web site.
I don't see any problem with fining MS $100M in Italy, even if that exceeds turnover there. HQ has to pay it or risk having their business seized. Simple as that.  I read this morning ChatGPT is now blocked in Italy.  However, in those news reports, they never said anything about Bing or ChatGPT integration with MS Office which is likely the greater of all the evils than just ChatGPT on its own.
If you think W10 is spyware, try W11 or Office 365. That's really in your face information gathering.  It's an interesting change to see how network centric it's become.Â
I wonder if it's going to screw over cloud hosting as MS will have access to underlying data. It's quite a problem solving data sovereignty.  It really looks like 1984.Â
I discussed this with one of my brothers and he said he didn't care if people knew about his dentist appointments or his bathroom renovations etc. I guess it's all relative.Â
As for FB and all that lot, they own an awful lot of the world telecoms capacity, particularly the undersea fibre cables. It's verging on national infrastructure for some places Take out FB, it takes out world telecoms.Â
I expect the regulators will seek to break up these corporations. Example: Google will have to let go of Android and quite possibly MS will have to cut lose MS Office. Â

Only took me a few days to understand the bars over Trumps star!!
I think it's time to break out the Q-10 for the brain!
My husband always tells me I am a "real blonde".
I usually get it much later then the joke. People laugh because I get it too late.
Oh well, better late then never.

If he's really got a star there, that's terrible. No way he should be in the same category as film/TV stars. I suppose Ronnie Reagan also had a star but he did real Hollywood work. I feel for the chimp who presumably was not so honoured.
BTW, I was a fan of Stormy Daniels but since I heard her speak over the weekend, my illusion has been shattered. She sounds like Mickey Mouse or a squeaky Dolly Parton. She should really have some voice training to give some gravitas to her presence. She could take a leaf out of Margaret Thatcher's public speaking (she was trained on how to present herself).

Well, when you're pretty it seems it doesn't matter what your voice sounds like.
No one listens to you anyways...
Our friend Peggy was Beautiful but when she spoke, forget it.
Didn't matter, she dated Adam Ant and made a studio recording with the group Talk-Talk.
She was smart but her voice ... my neighbor here in Hungary is just very average looking but her voice is murder on the ears. I wish she heard herself. She is a dentist and her voice is like a drill.
I don't see her often but I always know when she is home, yikes... Would be nice if she ever laughed but no, sounds like she is angry all the time.
I don't think Stormy ever landed a role for her speaking voice.
I really dislike the sound of my own voice. I now know why my mother used to say a lady should speak softly, it's because most women have very high pitched voices that hurt the ears.
My mother took voice lessons before she married. She loved to sing but in the 1940's her voice was too soulful so she trained to make it more to the style of her time.
I think she should of kept it soulful and warm sounding.
It's hard to have a high pitched voice. Maybe Stormy should pick up the habit of smoking to make her voice rougher.
Our Hungarian friend married a HU lady , he met her in Hungary on one of his holidays here and brought her to the US.
Nice enough, down to earth lady, I liked her.
The only strange thing about her was her voice. I swear on a stack of Bibles she sounded just like a hard core lumerjack .
I never heard a women in my life with such a low deep voice.
I'm sure she was often called, Sir over the phone, poor thing.
She passed a couple years ago from pancreatic cancer, really sad.
I think the cell phone is a huge curse on society, so many people screaming into them in public. I doubt many think how shrill or loud they are.
My sister and I laughed so hard when we met my husband.
He was a very slim guy at the time, average height and just overall cute but not big.
His voice however is deep and strong. It just didn't fit his body.
My son has a deep voice as well, so cute against his tiny voiced Japanese wife.
I had a close friend from Japan who had 2 little girls.
She took them to visit her parents in Japan.
Her father was not happy at all with his 2 grand daughters. As they lived at the time in the US they spoke out of turn and loud.
He wanted them home in Japan so they could learn some manners.
I found that interesting when she told me how unhappy her father was with them being in the US, loud and bossy little girls. I thought they were sweet as pie.
Different cultures I suppose.

Yes, Stormy does not have an attractive voice - at least to me. I was expecting more sultry and alluring tones. What did the Teflon Don see in her?
Mrs Thatcher was taught to lower her voice and speak more slowly and deliberately. But she was a politician, not a "adult film star" (aka pornstar). I wonder what she's going to do post-Trump. I read she's doing a turn or performance in strip clubs, some of which are just a stone's throw from Donny's place in Florida, At 39, one has to wonder where and to what her next career move will be.
Japanese apparently like squeaky voices. One of my kids was teaching English there for over 2 years and said they find squeaky very attractive. It's a place to be seen and not heard. No wonder anyone who had the slightest gumption and doesn't mind sharing their thoughts would be thought of as bad mannered. It's definitely all cultural. I found loud slurping of soup very off putting in Vietnam. I couldn't keep up with the vodka in RU. I think we've been here before.
BTW, being recognised as Sir or Madam over the phone has become a problem in the UK where they are using automated voice recognition to access bank accounts. Not sure how it copes with sore throats or colds or sinusitis. I've always rejected that option in banking - seems out of date now anyway as we're all on our smartphones.
