Stormy can always get work behind the camera.

Make up artist, camera or sound tech, set desgin etc.

She could always open up her own escort service in Vegas.

I'm sure she will land on her feet, not her back!

Haha, land on her feet not back. Very good.

I don't think she would want to be behind the camera, she'll want to be "performing".

Maybe she could present Lifestyles of the Rich, Famous and Corrupt.  Needs to drop the Mickey voice, get some presenting experience/lessons etc.

She needs to milk that DT connection. Could set her up for her entire life.

If DT gets convicted, she'd be absolutely minted.

I was disappointed the DT circus wasn't more exciting. I watched but DT was silent.

In Vegas they have jobs for "older sex workers and dancers"

One that was brought to my attention came from info my son told me.

Man, where does he come up with these?...

At those strip clubs in Vegas they have a possition as a sort of ,"mommy" to the dancers.

An older women who is there to comfort the dancers if and when someone upsets them and they can't perform.

The ,"auntie, mama whater" brings in foods for a fee to the girls, has a sewing kit with her for any custom malfuntions, boxes of tissue for crying into etc.

I know our old high fashion model friend was learning all she could about fashion photography for when her modeling days were done.

She was just 32 and felt she was about to be put out to pasture.

Stormy is 39? In some ways she looks much older to me. Hard to say these days when just about everyone has had work done on themselves.

I never think they look younger, just stranger.

In the UK, we'd call the older women organisers at brothels "madams". The helpers are "maids - they provide a level of security and other housekeeping services. I used to live opposite one of these places in The Netherlands - I could see the front door from my apartment window. No-one really cared but I was always amused to see these guys arrive on their bicycles, chain up the bike, stay an hour, then unchain the bike and pedal away afterwards.

Yes, Stormy is 39. I must say I thought she was older too. Maybe early 40s. Perhaps all that work she's been busy with has taken its toll.

Interestingly enough, I had a conversation this morning about faded beauty. We were discussing Raquel Welch who passed recently. As we all know, she was a sex symbol 1 million years BC ago and we've just found out via the Internet she passed due to a heart attack caused by Alzheimers. I haven't seen any of her later photos but I believe she maintained a high level of elegance, presumably to the end. She was always worried about not being taken seriously. I liked her.

I'm not sure Stormy will be able to ever maintain any level of elegance given her (previous?) profession.

Some beauties last because they are beautiful inside as well as out.

Raquel was one of them and Sofia Laruen, She just turned 90!

There are several others who just don't come to mind right now.

Like my mother used to say, "beauty is as beauty does". When I was younger I never understood what that meant.

Looks like there are big crowds in NY for the Trump trial.

What a side show.

Mean time the dollar and Euro are dropping in exchange rates and they are asking 650 forints per kilo at markets in Budapest, for carrots??!

I knew we should of bought a summer house with garden years ago...

It's not that important to us but the pressure I can imagine on some people here must be tough.

People can't live long term with holiday ham specials only.

Reminds me I forgot how very long the Easter weekend is here.

Seems we need to stock up on a few supplies before everything shuts down for days on end.

I still find it hard to understand why they close down here.

I'm still used to 24 hour a day shopping in Vegas.

We walked over after running some errands yesterday to the local Penny market store.

It was closed last month when we were around the area.

Not our normal place to shop but they have a few items worth buying there.

They had a reopening about a week ago as their remodleling was finished.

I didn't really notice any big changes, just newer freezers, things put where I couldn't find them and more self serve check outs.

Even the Tesco in Arena plaza has added many more self check out counters.

More lost jobs it seems.

Even when you want to spend money it's sometimes hard here.

I ordered about $100. worth of suppliments over a week ago and they only have 4 out of the 5 items in stock for now.

Not running over when my major purchase isn't available yet.

My friend in AZ and her husband were seriously considering buying a used Toyota SUV in Vegas. It was 5 years old with 60,000 miles on it.

Asking price was more then $27,000!!

I'm missing something somewhere, I'd never pay that much for a used car with having to make $500. per month payments on it. Plus auto insurance.

My friend doesn't even drive any longer.

I know they need a reliable car since they live out in nowhere but that seems extreme when their income is only from SS.

Over the years their relations dropped every few years and left them houses that they sold.

It's all gone now but they still live like someone is going to drop and leave them a house any day.

Maybe they are living the right way? Live for today and forget tomorrow?

Sofia Loren is a classic beauty. I cannot say I was a true fan. Catherine Deneveue on the other hand looks great at 79. Jane Fonda (now 85) - never impressed me that much even though she was in Barbarella. One of the first glitzy glam movies I saw. Not my kind of sci-fi as too much fantasy.  Still, great supporting cast though in that movie.

We've been shopping for the forthcoming holiday weekend and prices are just too much right now, especially for fresh stuff like tomatoes or any vegetables. I was shocked at the price of stuff like olive oil which was always relatively cheap here. Makes you think twice. Prices seem to be going up faster than ever. I can see it destabilising the population and knock on effects everywhere. Inflation is not as high in the Eurozone as here. Makes you wonder what is going on and whose hands are incompetently on the tiller.

Despite EU sanctions, HU still has oil being delivered from RU via pipeline for mainly domestic consumption only. HU is not allowed to export processed oil products - to diesel or petrol - other than to UKR oddly. Fuel prices seem to be falling but it doesn't explain why food prices are still high.

I'm not surprised about 2nd hand car prices. There's a shortage of 2nd hand cars in Europe caused by COVID, shortage of new parts and spare parts for older cars, changes in pollution controls for diesels, the fuel price and the war in Ukraine.  Doesn't quite seem as bad in the UK - we just sold my Dad's car - 10 year old, low mileage (about 60K miles also). Went for about $4K.  It was only a small car. It sold really quickly - within just 3 days. He's given up driving now he's approaching 99 years old.

It feels like today or tomorrow is like the weekend. Everyone seems to be on holiday. I was at the car wash. I went early thinking people would still be at work but I had to queue up. Sometimes I go at lunchtime and no-one is there.

I've been tidying up the garden ready to plant some of the vegetables we're growing in trays.  The weather is really rubbish though. It's almost down to 0 C again tonight.  I feel like summer is too long arriving and will be too short when it does get here.  We have to wait until Monday or Tuesday for decent weather - just our luck, the kids won't be on holiday Tuesday. Great. We had been thinking of going to Balaton for the day but no point unless it's sunny and warm. But the dog likes it for a swim anytime.

BTW, Stormy is 44, not 39.   She lost a separate court case against Trump in California.  Has to pay DT $121,000 in legal fees.  I hope she raises that through donations.

Watched an old movie last night from the late 1950's on U tube.

Starred Joan Collins. She was and still is rather elegant.

She did a good job putting on an American accent.

Silly movie but those were common in the 50's.

I caught a old horror film by Hammer studios too.

Have to hit the stores today, need a few items but my husband is holding out on buying too many veggies until he goes to the farmers market and checks them out first.

I'd jump to purchase a good used car for 4K with 60,000 miles on it.

I'm suprised it took 3 days to sale.

2 times we sold cars in Vegas just literally a few hours before we flew out to Hungary.

Never again, my nerves were killing me. No idea what we would of done if a buyer didn't just run up.

They say it may snow any day now this weekend.

I doubt it, maybe some rain.

I'm about ready for summer.

People called about the car but they were chancers looking for a quick buck.  Got told where to go in a hurry.  The car was priced at the same price as other cars of the same model found online.  So it went for about the right amount for that kind of car.   It was in good condition but wouldn't be the kind of car younger people would want - no McDonalds' cupholders and no bluetooth or plug in place for your iPhone.  Be OK to take dogs around.

I was outside in the garden talking to our landscapers. It's freezing cold with a biting wind.  I had two coats on!  This is not the weather I requested.

I always thought Joan Collins was a flake but I agree, she was actually pretty good and she's still with us even though we don't hear from her.

Vegas is known for flakes calling to buy something and never showing up at the appointed time.

I got calls, set a time to meet and no one showed up. The same person would call a day or 3 later and want to meet up again!

We were selling a little economy car we bought for the 6 months we were in Vegas. No big deal if we didn't sell it before we left because our son could of stored it until our next trip over or he could of sold it later on.

We were ready to fly out back to Hungary in about 4 hours time.

We jumped to a drug store near the house to pick up some last min thing.

We still had the for sale sign on the car and some man and his son started asking abut the car. The father was a talker,  talking about everything under the sun except the car.

I was getting super nervous, still had to pack, get ready and my DIL was making a last min. Japanese meal for us.

No time for chit -chatting.

Finally the guy said he'd buy the car, came to the house and was holding us up so long with his idle chatter that I got a bit angry with him, didn't care if the car sold or not. He was told we were trying to get ready for a long haul fight but he talked so much about nothing.

Got the cash, closed the door and hoped he didn't come back again .

Last visit we sold our sons car literally almost the same senero.

Got tons of calls on the car, bunch of no shows. The add online was running out and the last day my husband said to give it one more try and place the add again.

Off to our storeage unit, putting things inside last min. that wouldn't fit in our luggage.

Got a call from 2 really large ladies.

They wanted to have us drive across town to them as they had no car.

I again was sweating it out, still had to get dressed for the flight, close the house up , call a cab and get to the airport within hours.

The two ladies were so heavy set I thought they weren't serious, they hardly could fit in the car.

The bought it and even drove us back to the house, shower, call the cab and get to the airport within 90 mins.

I swear if ever again, I'll just call up a junk yard to remove the car and forget trying to sell it last min.

We got lucky really both times actually.

Good cars sold cheap still not easy to sale.

That's really cutting it fine to get shot of the cars at the last minute. We had no such worries.

For that vehicle. cash only during business hours or card payment to buy the card, sold as seen, drive away and adios! The few times I've sold cars here, I only take lumps of cash at bank premises and these are paid over the counter into bank accounts to avoid any question of counterfeit currency. Not that anyone buys anything from us - once in a blue moon. I cannot even remember when anyone came here to buy something.   Mrs F deals with those kinds of things - usually recycling stuff like kids furniture or bikes (these are really hard to sell).

We cannot even give stuff away most of the time - we had a kontener (UK: skip) for cleaning up the garden materials/trash generated by the landscapers. I dumped 6 broken garden chairs in it and some guy in a very old van came past and helped himself to them! More fool him really. They could not be repaired economically. The UV had got to them over the years and destroyed the weaved material you sit on. Good luck fixing them.

I've seen people with small card readers they carry about with them. I am not sure if individuals can use those or they are for small traders. Be useful to be able to take cards but no volume of transactions to make it worthwhile.

I know , my husband about gives me a heart attack how he waits until the last min to take care of selling items.

I had a decent  beach bike I bought at the Good will in Vegas. I put a new $10. tire on it and was selling it for only $20.

Had tons of calls on it but no one showed up to see it.

A young lady really wanted it so I told her to come and buy it. She never showed up but as it goes, the very day just before selling the car, she called about the bike and bought it. Literally hours before we flew off.

IDK if people think you are ging to lower the price that much if they don't show up but call 3 days later? $20. for a good beach bike, come on now! It even had a light on it.

I think I gave her some items, like extra vitamins we had and other small things that wouldn't fit in my luggage. She made out pretty good.

We actually did the same thing when we sold the car to those 2 ladies, we went into the bank to get our money with them.

Wise decision to go to the bank with the 2 ladies.  Cash out of a bank has to be OK.

I've had counterfeit £20 notes in the UK and of course, I've been conned and lost my money.  I kept mine and looked at it really closely. I could see it had been scanned and printed on a high quality colour printer.  Some of the fine lines were smudged.   The paper was also wrong.  But from a distance of say 1m/3ft, one could be fooled, especially when the duff note was in a pile of others.

While I kept my dud note, quite illegallly, the only way to get back the value is to palm it off to someone else who can afford it like a giant chain store. "Paying it forward" I suppose.

BTW, I'm looking for Joan Collins movies now - it's unleashed my inner JC fan club.    It's such rubbish weather and I've done some work outside install a cable conduit, I think I deserve a good cup of tea, a hot cross bun (sugar free - thank you Mrs Fluffy) and a Western or 1960s drama would be ideal.  Joan made a Western in 1958 called The Bravados with Gregory Peck.  And a 1957 spy drama with Robert Wagner called Stopover Tokyo.  Just have find them.

Totally not into Easter and the long weekend but will make the most of it.

We spent hours today running around.

Took the bus to the outdoor farmers market instead of using the car.

Hubby didn't feel like driving in the rain.

Not so easy to shop holding an umbrealla but it was worth the trip.

Fund allot a good deal today.

Nice carrots not for 649 per kilo but for only 190 a kilo and they were decent normal sized ones just like in the big shops.

Salad, peppers etc.

Bought brocolli at Tesco for 799 a half kilo, today found some randomly for only 300 per kilo and it's loks very fresh and not in bad condition.

Have to make soup with it fast and perhaps some stir fry.

Ran to several bakeries and Aldi, so busy all around the city.

It was fun but really chilly too.

My freind in AZ was saying it's alreay 89F there... We ,sadly will have to wait a bit longer for weather like that here.

That's a good price for carrots. All those Easter bunnies will be happy.

Never been a fan of broccoli myself. Or cauliflower. Same kind of thing really, one white and one green.  Cauliflower cheese is OK but it's only OK because it's got cheese in it to cover up the non-taste of the cauliflower.

Mrs Fluffy has bought some leeks, ham and potatoes. Looks like I will be making soup again on Monday. It turned out really nice last time so maybe it will be OK again. If I can remember what I did.

We're expected my MIL and BIL for lunch tomorrow. Mrs Fluffy is putting a bit of a spread for them as it's Easter. Never really cared about it other than the nice frolicking bunnies and chirping chicks etc.

My MIL is losing the plot day by day - she's not sure who is dead and who is alive. Keeps referring to people long retired or gone.  Long term memory somewhat intact but shorter term memory impaired.  Mrs F was there cleaning up and it was like a bomb had hit the place. MIL tried to make some biscuits and cremated them in the oven. Nothing salvageable so they went in the bin.  MIL got lost going to the non-existent market today. She had to be rescued by someone who knew her and took her home by car.  She went there to buy pickles despite the fridge being full of pickles already.

Mrs F's aunt is even further gone. She was making something or other, put out the vegetables on the kitchen table but forgot why they were there just minutes later and was complaining all the vegetables were left there.  Her memory is gone just minutes after doing something.

Weather is rubbish.  Too cold and too wet to do anything outside. I had plans, now stopped.  Only 4C and miserable wetness.  Even the dog looks fed up.

I guess it'll be Joan Collins and Gregory Peck this afternoon.  Either that or work. :(

They say cauliflower and broccoli are good for you.

I know I'd never order them as my last meal!

Sorry to hear the MIL and auntie are losing it.

They are lucky people care enough to see they get home safe.

Has to be stressful though to think they could run into major trouble on their own.

I watched a video on life in Japan.

The poster mentioned that it is lucky and makes you rich to clean your toilet everyday in Japan.

Well, been doing that all my life daily and still waiting on those lottery numbers to come in!

He said the CEO's of huge corp. in Japan clean their own toilets daily and have been doing so for over 50 years.

It is suppose to also keep you humble.

Maybe Trump, Biden and their kind should be toilet scrubbers?

We all know they are full of it as it is!

I told my husband about getting rich by cleaning your toilet daily.

He laughed and said he'd be rich if he didn't buy all those cleaning products these last many years.

I cleaned ours this morning and told my husband it's money in the bank.

Enjoy the fam, I miss all the drama of being around mine at times.

Mrs F and I have had a number of discussions about what to do with the MIL once she's really lost it.

I reckon she's about 3 or 4 years into a 7 year progression of the disease. She's in a wandering stage which is about the midpoint on the decline. Probably she'll have to be locked in to the grounds of the house to stop her getting lost in the village. It's a fairly big place, she could easily wander off and be stuck outside overnight. At the moment, she's able to ask for help.  More worrying is that she was only about 300m from home when she got lost the other day. It was an easy 5min walk back but it seems too far for her.

The big issue is how to finance her care. She'll have to go into a home but there's no government help.  I suppose her house will have to be sold.  Shame really as it's in a useful place but is in bad condition. It'll probably have to be demolished. For a modern family, it's impossible to modernise - no insulation, bad electricity installation, awkward layout.  It would need to be reconstructed with modern materials and it's not a nice enough house to waste time on.

No-one seems to be interested in maintaining it.  There are these enormous nut trees all rubbing on the roof. They are so big, they are dangerous. I've told Mrs F and the involved family members to chop them down. Even the neighbours are complaining about the chances of branches breaking off and landing in their gardens or land or god forbid, anyone outside. But no-one seems to be doing anything. Rather take a risk with other people's lives than get the overgrown trees removed.

I've been to a hotel in Japan - at a Tokyo airport - where I stayed  overnight. I arrived very late one day and left very late the next day so two nights. It was really difficult.  The menus in the restaurant were unfamiliar, the food very different and the language impossible. It was very surprising as it was an international hotel owned by Japanese Airlines. It was not set up for foreigners.  I thought I was going to starve to death until I found they had a shop where one could look at items in packets and decide if it was edible. I was rather happy to see airline food after that experience. If I go again, I'll stay in a Western branded hotel which is likely to be more familiar.

My bathroom at the airport was like a kind of plastic pod and tiny.  But I have to say I had the most complicated toilet I have ever seen. I cannot see how anyone could operate it without going on a day long course. Lots of buttons and lights on it and numerous functions which would baffle anyone.

Maybe it's just a different mindset but what happened to just getting on with it traditionally?

For thousands of years we've all known what to do without beeping or disco lights or warming fans.

Even the Tesco in Arena plaza has added many more self check out counters.
More lost jobs it seems.

-@Marilyn Tassy

Actually that can be changed in an easy way:

Just put a tax to each one which = the exact 2X of the total guarantated wage minimum (skilled workers).

Never going to happen.

Those kinds of stores can easily leave the country if conditions become too uncompetitive.

Most likely never going to happen.

But there is one opposition party which can make a proposal in the Parlament.

Actually the only one which is quite keen to say multies: go home.

Off course government + leftish "opposition" for sure vote down the proposal, but still a different narrative heard.

Yes of course.

Some retailers will leave if the pressure is too high. It only takes someone in OV's camp or his relatives to have their eyes on it (i.e. Waberers recently).

Organisations like Tesco or Aldi are huge companies. They aren't going to be lent on by some wannable HU politician/oligarch. There's no one person at the top who would respond to silly threats. Case in point: Disney and Ron de Santis in Florida.

We've already seen the likes of Bricostore and a few others depart from HU. This is not good for the country - jobs lost and lots of annoyed unemployed people.

But I do reckon places like OBI are on borrowed time. I go there regularly as it's convenient but I check prices on the Internet all the time. I saved myself 6000 HUF on some electrical gear, even with paying for it to be delivered.  Economics/consumer choice will do them in rather than external pressure.

It is not a big deal if retailers leave the market.

What? They cannot sell the products from their home country here?

If we get less import sooner or later needs to fill the gap (if emerges a gap at all) by local production so actually beneficial.

Also beneficial if not huge corporations in negotiating position with local producers but smaller ones and more local ones included.

Same goes for anything in services industry/ finances: foreign corporations can leave.

All what they generate is cash outflow and debt. So again not a big deal if they abadon the market.

Producers that is a different question they are welcome.

They actually produce something, not just sales (or debt).

Jet there I would also prefer a shift from the "assembly line country" to the real factories.

Disney that is a different story - there are political reasons which overshadow economical - well anything economical. The governor have good intentions to battle the woke madness but as always conservatives are with limited mindset: they belive things can be corrected with more legalisation and court battles...

That's just troll fantasy. All that will happen is people will simply buy abroad as they are entitled to do under the EU. Just order your stuff and have it delivered. I already do that - Poland is a good place to buy technical goods. Larger market, lower prices,, greater choice.

Businesses like Tesco, Aldi etc are extremely adept at worldwide supply chains, retailing/marketing and they have enormous clout due to their very large purchasing power.  They can work with suppliers to produce high quality goods they can move through their stores. They know what sells - they gather masses of data through their loyalty cards.

I cannot see small HU businesses having the expertise to work with those constraints at those kind of volumes and at those kinds of margins.  I'm no fan of them but I cannot argue with the stuff they sell.

We used to see some HU goods like saucepans on the shelves at Tesco - usually older designed stuff of a bygone/commie age. Didn't take long for that to disappear. Why? Because the consumer could see better stuff elsewhere, even if it means driving to Austria - we still do that for some large ticket items.  Once again: larger market, more disposable income in the population, more choice available and lower VAT.

It used to be that AT (and therefore DE and CH-Switzerland) manufactured goods were marketed as being synonymous with quality. Who wants a Hungarian manufactured screwdriver when you can get a German quality assessed version at half the price being sold everywhere in the EU in their millions (even if it is manufactured in China)?

I rest my case, m'lud.

As for de Santis, he's another right wing loon. However smart he thinks he is, Disney is way smarter and way way richer with way way way more lawyers whispering in the ears of very powerful people. He hasn't got a hope in hell.  Disney will wear him into the ground. They can wait a very long time. 80,000 people depend on Disney in the state. He's annoyed a lot of people who would be fearful of losing their jobs. Disney has increased their pay in recent months. They ain't stupid about loyalty. Don't mess with the Mouse.

De Santis's fellow looney was in the news. I almost choked laughing on my tea this morning on the Teflon Don's claim people were very upset about his court appearance in NYC. He's got an amazing ability to hear thing no-one else can hear.  Gimme a break!

Austria to extend checks at Hungarian, Slovenian borders

VIENNA, April 11 (Reuters) - Austria plans to extend checks at its borders with Slovenia and Hungary by another six months from May 11, when the current six-month suspension of free travel over those boundaries expires, Interior Minister Gerhard Karner told ORF radio on Tuesday.

"We will inform the European Commission in the coming days that we will have to extend these border checks," Karner said, adding that the continued suspension of the Schengen area's free-travel rules at those boundaries was necessary in order to fight illegal immigration.

That's a bit odd.

I wonder if this is to do with Hungary getting further into bed with Belarus and it's at the EU's behest.  Slovenia is included, but why?

The Belarussian FM was in Hungary on a reciprocal visit following Hungary's FM's visit to Minsk.

Belarus is Russia's proxy and does Putin's bidding and was allowing visa free movement into Minsk by plane which then led to many undesired arrivals heading to the Polish border, bused there by Lukashenko.  Iran will have visa-free travel to Minsk - that was announced recently.

Maybe this will be extended to planes arriving in Budapest - a free for all.   Hungary has been known to issue visas to Russia aligned states without too much ado

Maybe it's wrapped up with the IIB. There's also been some sanctions imposed on Russia's "spy bank" the IIB which is based in Budapest.   Hungarian citizens appear on the sanctions list for the first time.  The head of the IIB is Hungarian.   The IIB is accused of being a  Russian intelligence front.  Moreover, Hungary allows free movement for IIB workers and thence, that means free movement into Schengen.   Of course, Austria and Slovenia it wouldn't stop IIB workers going to Schengen Croatia or Slovakia, so what would be the point?

It's really bad timing.  We'll be seeing the annual Turkish migration through here soon.   The queues will be horrendous.

Just order your stuff and have it delivered. I already do that - Poland is a good place to buy technical goods. Larger market, lower prices,, greater choice.

Actually I did buy my last winter jacket also from Poland.

Why?

Because the companies here offered winter jackets overpriced, and with woke advertisements - alias diversity. So Poland was better in all regards: East European goods with normal advertisement - better than the multi-megacorporations which rule Hungary mostly.

Or by other words:

They have skill how to offer their lesser quality goods in East Europe overpriced for the local cash pigs and bribe any government to be in bed with them.

Sure many in top quality - there.

So in that regard we actually agree: better to buy certain stuff there, not the ones what delivered here often in different quality and on larger price. Or order it from there.

Disney can leave - also can bring all 80 k (or more) personel elsewhere.

The less woke litter is the better.

Florida have no problem with the population, while in 2020 spring there were about 21.5 million residents, nowdays that is about 23 million, many relocated/ continue to relocate there from other parts of the US and leave behind mad states like California, Oregon, DC - bring their families and businesses with them.

Also not just internal migration in the US, but also de facto refugees from places like Canada, which is no wonder after what they did since 2020, and especially with the freedom convoy, or just cases like this:

I'm not going to argue or do homework on trolling.

It's simple economics, larger  market, bigger volumes, lower prices because of lower margins per unit, greater choice.

Take it or leave it.

Disney contribution to the Florida economy is very substantial.  The very same taxpayers who keep de Santis in office.  No taxpayers, no de Santis.  Disney is never going to pull out, they'll see de Santis in hell first.  He's got more chance of getting there sooner than a conglomerate.

As for his "friend", Trump and Co, I see he's suing Cohen for $500M.  Yeah, like that'll work.

Disney contribution to the Florida economy is very substantial.

Sure - still others can bring also economical value.

Well I don`t think those certain taxpayers are his voters as well.

2018: 49.6% of votes, 2022: 59.4% so it seems like a growth - eg. more gets statisfied with his way.

Sure it is not common in the world when politicians actually care about their voters wishes (or population at all), but cannot be everyone like the Germans/ Europeans:

Certainly not going to look at your links.

Thank you.

OK, so I have no links but if this new system is actually going to come into fruition many people will be crying.

Last night on a HU news site my husband read about a new law that is suppose to start this very summer.

I don't know many details since I didn't read the post.

Our neighbor just called to chat about it and she is freaked out about what they wrote.

The new law is something to do with apts. probably will have houses follow suit too.

No longer will the owners of apts. own the buildings in a shared manner as it is now. The gov. will own the bulidings and you will be a sort of lease holder on your own apt.

This sounds like fighting words really.

This way they can demand people fix this or that in their apts. and if they can't afford it they will owe the gov. or even go into debt and lose their property to the gov. for repairs etc.

You will own nothing and be happy?

I saw a post yesterday about the city of Budapest selling off properties they own.

Maybe they know something the rest of us don't?

Get out while the gettings good?

Agenda 2030 has to begine somewhere.

I suppose I am a conspriacy believer.

The links thing in my previous post was aimed at Herr Babilon and his writing style and apparent thinking I (or we) need to do homework to verify whatever impolite blatherings he wished to share. Wasn't aimed at others.

Government to nationalise all apartment buildings? That's not going to go well. Sounds like a land grab to me. It might be a move to deprive city governments of any income they might have prior to the next election. Hence the sell off before they get caught out. As we all know, politically, it's Budapest vs the rest of the country.

I'll ask Mrs F about it. Many of her relatives live in those kinds of apartment buildings. We also had thoughts to convert the MIL's place into apartments. No good doing that if some OV proxy is going to take it away.

They definitely need the money. Economy is not good - brain drain, inflation, being friends with pariah states etc.

But over here, they've got a super majority, they can do anything they want including changing the constitution. They are consolidating financial power in the hands of their cronies and supporters. So even if opposition were to gain power, they'd find all the wealth inaccessible. Things like that end usually end badly.

Austria has a federal system so less likely there would be central interference.

The USA and EU are really fed up with Hungary. No idea what will happen but I expect there's a lot of pressure externally.

STOP PRESS: Literally minutes ago, reports are Hungary has withdrawn from IIB after US sanctions.  Presumably the institution will have to leave Budapest. Looks like US pressure brought results - no access to financial markets.  There's no way IIB can maintain its offices in Budapest now. There's no reason to be here.

I had to look up what IIB was. Guess an old commie bank system?

It's all OK, I know people are born into the time they have to be.Meaning some people were distened to be born in certain centuries.

We all probably fantazie about living in another era but we were born to be where we are now and to experience what the world is at this time.

It wasn't bad at all, being a Friday it was not busy at all, in and out within 15mins. minus  a few oz. of blood, life force.( Blood is the life)

If things get very weird here in Hungary at least as an ex-pat we can always go home and deal with whatever insanity is happening at home.

It's hard when a person is young to understand it's all a silly game and in the end you leave without anything.

Nothing really is that serious, it's just an adventure.

Residental buildings became into a legal entity.

Also administration becames a bit more straightforward: whole building vs. often many different lessee like: offices/ companies in the same building.

Implementing Regulation not done jet with the details.

Most likely things like renovations, repairs (roof, elevator), etc. becames more smoth + common costs for occupiers in residental buildings can increase.

There are various other possibilities as well with the legal entity status.

Yes, Commie Bank covers it. It was formed 1970 I think. Cuba, Mongolia and Viet Nam are tiny shareholders left - other than Russia. Maybe China and India get involved next.

Everyone else has run away for fear of US retribution.  As US covers US dollar transactions and they are sanctioned, it's all cut off at the knees. I wouldn't be surprised if more HU personnel there or elsewhere associated with RU are targeted as US interest in HU/RU buddies progresses.

Speaking of blood, I was wondering about going to see the new Dracula movie, Renfield when we have UK visitors week after next. Apparently it's a comedy drama - a dramedy. I can observe vampire narcissists in action rather than reading about them in the news.

I have not heard about the new Dracula movie.

I really enjoyed Gary Oldman's performance as Dracula in the 1992 film.

I even bought it on DVD which is a rare thing for me to have done.

I think Oldman is an underated actor, he always gives a good show.

At least a vampire is somewhat a ,"sex symbol" where as anyone who thinks Biden, Putin and those in power are sexy have a major mental issue!

They say politicans are just ugly actors, I do believe that's true.

I am stupidly hooked for the time being on the old TV show Dark Shadows.

Sort of pathletic considering it is over 55 years old.

Maybe it was under rated for it's time or I was too young for it when it aired on daily tv.

It is a cross between being camp and being scary.

I suppose we all need a time to just go brain dead and relax anyway we can during these insane times?
