Child abuse is one thing but if a grown"a**" women who is educated and a full fledged adult says years later that she was "molested" then I have serious doubts.
Don't any of these women own a baseball bat or have a few big brothers who can help sort this out?
These are women of "power" and some status just seems so low and cheesy to act like a victim now.
If I know of anyone molesting a child, well that's whole different kettle of fish!
Animals and children are off limits but a grown women should know better then to be alone with a perv.
Just saying, I know of a few family members who were molested by one of their own parents. That's sick stuff and should be followed up by authorities.
Like Asia Argento , she cries wolf but was a cougar herself.

That looks really sloppy. It's not a peck on the cheek.

...
If you mean Brett K's alleged victim, she was just a kid when it supposedly happened. I don't know how she can remember clearly all that long ago, regardless of how traumatic it was.
I can hardly remember what happened last week - it might have been traumatic or positive, I've totally forgotten one way or another (I got 147 points Ten Pin Bowling yesterday, so probably positive).
But it's not just one victim, others have come forward to say they have similar allegations. I don't think the FBI is going to do much in one week. I think a lot of people are going to be unhappy if it goes the wrong way (whichever way that is). Â
So much for MAGA, it's MADA...Make America Divided Again (the again could refer to anything, but let's say the civil war). Or maybe Mutually Assured Destruction (of) America? Meh..whatever.Â
I'm not a citizen so I feel comfortable throwing stones from over here. Not as though I've really got a dog in this race but I do like a bit of Schadenfreude with my coffee.
I have mentally removed myself from the political drama in the US.
i honestly don't know the details of these allegations.
Anyone who reaches these high levels of power ain't no saint, that's for sure.
Way too many dark secrets in their closets.
All the news here and there about the Pope being charged with child abuse etc. Hillary and her body count, Hollywood perverts( well that's been a well known fact forever and a year), Underground child trafficing tunnels in D.C. the dirty list of horrors goes on and on.
Let's no forget good ol' Billy boy Clinton and his trips to pedo Island.
Hard to consider if even half these things were real what has been going on under all our noses for so long?
I am not kidding , my sister as I have mentioned a million and half times knew all sorts of people in the S. Ca. entertainment field.
From people in music to make up artists and people who worked at Animation for Disney.
She was even invited by someone or somehow to the Academy Awards and had better seats then the actor Peter O'Toole ( said he was super good looking even in his older age). Guess he wasn't as in demand at that time so he got the "cheap seats".
Well way back I was going to beauty college and had met a few of my sisters girlfriends, sometimes she would bring a few of her friends to our BBQ /pool parties.
She told me 2 of her friends were going to make up artist school, some short course that only took a few months time to finish.
Out of nowhere they both landed great paying good jobs in the film industry.
I asked my sister how they were both able to land those jobs right out of school with no experience.
She told me straight faced and not messing around that she was done with them both.
They were way too "dark" for her.
They both landed these jobs because they both were witches in Hollywood and their coven members juiced them into those good jobs right out of school.
I'm serious, my sister was not the type to lie about something like that, I totally believe what she said.
They are all in one club and we ain't in it.
Lots of dark things going on and it's all being exposed at once, way too much info for most of us.

I have no problem, in theory, with lifetime appointments, if that person is confirmed by a super majority. That is suppose to put that judge above politics and give that selection a real legitimacy beyond political partisanship. Getting just under 50% of the popular vote, but getting a 2/3 majority in Parliament is utter, complete and total BS, IMHO. Such a system is not, IHMO, legitimate to appoint judges to a lifetime appointment.
Meanwhile, the Republicans removed the 2/3 filibuster option on Supreme Court nominees, so they could push through the last justice. And of course, that entire BS about not even voting on Obama's pick because they claimed "the voters should weigh in"? Oh, please: if that were true then this current process should wait until after November so the voters can weigh in regarding the senate election and so include the people's vote as well. Hypocrites.
The problem, for me, is not the lifetime appointment, it is the political process, hyper-partisanship, and politicians who have no real interest in ethics, morality or honestly in trying to represent "the people" -- only in pushing their singular ideologies and agendas (and of those that pay for their re-election).

She didn't. She gave this information to certain politicians early on. But asked it not be used unless necessary. Why? Maybe because she did not want to be victimized a second time. Like death threats:

Quite frank,y, would you have the inner strength to deal with being abused twice? I am not sure I would be. Hopefully, I never have to face that decision.

Ok, that's new news to me. I bow to superior knowledge.
I hear that some victims feel somehow it's their fault and they are ashamed so that might explain it somewhat. On the other hand, the guy was an appeals judge so he was already close to the top as well so she could have thrown it at him before.Â
I agree that fact she has to stand up in public and make those allegations is traumatic in itself and the cross questioning "trial style" is akin to a kind of abuse.  So yes, victimisation again.
I could not say if I would be able to deal with being abused in that way. People have inner strengths they do not know about but sitting here I think, no, probably I haven't got the necessary gumption.
I am 100% aware my last post sounded like the raving of a lunatic.
I swear all facts on a stack of Bibles!
My sweet wise and kind mother was sexually abused by a very, very close family member when she was 4 years old. That would be around then year 1928.
When she told her mother that,"____" hurt her she was told to shut up and never talk about it again.
That sick family member was never allowed to be alone with my mom again.
My mom just got over it the best way she could, just knowing she was a baby and it had nothing to do with her self worth etc.
poor people back in the day just didn't go around telling the cops everything that was wrong, families had to deal with issues themselves.
My mother though watched us girls like a hawk, was extremely over protected in many ways, questions about every detail of our daily life, now I understand why she was like that, at the time we all thought she was too much.

I believe most abused people know their abuser.Â
Pretty bad stuff.
As far as swearing on Bibles, you might as swear on a car parts catalogue (US: catalog).

I believe - from what I've read - these appointments become very partisan in the past say, 20 years. Trouble with Brett K is that he's what, 53? He could be in there for 30+ years. I think the youngest appointment was 43 years old. So that's potentially 40 years more for that one. I am not even sure - not that I read the rules - that senility would retire a judge from there.I think it's going to end up getting reformed as it doesn't seem to be fit for the modern ages. Other countries have compulsory retirement ages like 68 etc. Seems reasonable.Â
Quite surprising (to me) is that a SCOTUS candidate does not need an qualifications to be appointed. Can be anyone the President nominates and Senate approves of. Amazing.

No-one here expect us Limeys knows what an Argos catalog(ue) is.Â
Anyway, Argos is part of Sainsbury's now. Taking it over was a master stroke considering how the UK High Street is being decimated.Â
Example: We wanted to buy something costing like 50K HUF. Not a cheap item. Looked online on Alza, 10K HUF cheaper and free delivery. Why bovver with going to physical shops?

You couldn't have hit the nail on the head more clearly. (Except it wasn't 2/3rds - only 60 of 100 senators). Republicans absolutely trashed the constitution when they refused hearings for Obama's Garland, and then made the 51 vote rule change.
The purpose of 60 (vs 51) votes was SPECIFICALLY to ensure that a minority had a say in the appointment in an effort to moderate the selection to some degree. With that gone, the direction of the supreme court is left to nothing but luck of the draw with regards to the timing of deaths and retirements.
I am quite sure the Republicans will come to regret this rule change one day. Tactical rule changes always come back to bite.
The Republicans have shown incredible recklessness with their appointments even beyond the above mentioned farce. First of all, they are picking a man who is far too young. Lifetime appointments were supposed to span administrations to avoid partisanship. They were not intended to span generations.
Further more, Trump has been particularly inept with his selections. Prior candidates when he appointed his first judge included a man who had merely CLERKED. He had not even served on a single trial as a principal attorney. A man who couldn't answer basic questions about legal matters. Fortunately, his humiliation resulted in him withdrawing. It was utterly absurd.
The irony of claiming that Democrats were cynically delaying appointment until after the election is beyond measurement, give what they did to Obama. Hypocrisy really doesn't feel like a sufficiently strong word!

Sainsbury's had Homebase and we know how that went. But Argos seems to be OK, it also has shops in shopping villages.
Tesco, on the other hand, will regret trying to take on Aldi and Lidl with their No Frills shop called Jacks.

There you go. Proof. Donald was right. The world is laughing at the USA.
Now....
Ironically, because of his decisions. Or, to quote him: "Sad".Â
I think Christine Blasey Ford was sincere but it makes you wonder why she took her time. On the other hand, I was listening to abuse counsellor on the radio describing how abused people struggle with what happened and it can take years to overcome the trauma and to reconcile the experience such that it can be talked about.
But yes, we are laughing at the USA and Donald T. But in some ways we're fearful as well in case the Donald T version of lunacy is contagious.  The appointment of a "conservative" to SCOTUS could rebound. A lot of common law systems take the logic of arguments from other jurisdictions including the USA. No balance to it and appointment for life, hmmm, perhaps the model thinking means some groups of people will become marginalised.Â
I hate to say it and I'm pushing my luck but I was thinking about the parallels of SCOTUS and the Guardian Council in Iran.
Maybe these guys should have fixed term limits - say 7 years.
But it ain't my country.
No, i should suggest fixed four year terms......
But the British cheated even more. They introduced the Fixed Terns Parliament Act 2011 and lo and behold after one go at it reneged on it..
I have been trying to find the quote it was not about Trump but of someone about seventy years ago that said "He is so false. Even his hair -- which looks false --- is real". It wasn't about Reagen, much earlier than that but I don't remember who said it and of course Google just sends you round the houses with this kind of think. [i]Possibly[/üi] it yould be S. j. Perelman vbut nnot quite in his style, and certainlx not any of Marx Bros. Ambrose Bierce is way too early.
But gret line "even his hair -- which looks false --- is real": I am surprised nobody has used that on Trump,. or vice versa.
The thing is about Trump he does actually get results. You have to respect him for that, not as a US voter, but as a world citizen. I can't work out if he is the most idiotic man on the planet or the cleverest, but my coin tosses towards the cleverest. It takes a certain kind of clever to APPEAR like an idiot. Reagan did it. (Except once he "forgot to duck").
But then "Justice is open to all, like the Ritz Hotel".

Sainsbury's saw the writing on the wall and dumped Homebase onto that Australian chain Bunnings (aka Wesfarmers). They paid £320m I think.  I was in a Bunnings/Homebase and actually bought something useful and a good price too (it was a splitter for hose pipes) - labelled as Bunnings.  In the end Bunnings (aka Wesfarmers) dumped Homebase and took a £230m hit.
Tesco tried to crack the USA with Fresh n Easy and got nowhere and pulled out. I have my doubts about Jack's.  The Lidl and Aldi model is the top 100 items for everyday purchase plus these "bargains" they have with tools and DIY stuff. I have bought quite a lot of Aldi tools and they are quite OK. Nothing mega expensive but stuff like hose pipes, screwdrivers, some spanners and a laundry basket (I had to repair it within about a week as it was too flimsy - quite OK now).
I'm interested to see how consolidation takes on Amazon who have become a mega threat. We have Sports Direct buying House of Fraser and possibly absorbing Debenhams too. The way M&S is going as well, it could end up being a mega shopping conglomerate and limited choice.
(Apologies to non-UK readers who won't know all of these names).
Tesco have never got very far in USA..... and my Hungarian family work for Tesco, my dad worked as a buyet for Tesco for ten years, they just never seem to have understood the US market. They have never been sucessful there. Biggest retailer in Hungary, and biggest in UK, vbut have never really got anywhere in US (let alone of course the rest of Noth America). There name is simply not known there.... who in Texas would go to shop at Tesco: I mean they would say "who?" Of course they should say "whom." but trying to teach a Texan Proper English Grammar usually ends up with a gun pointed at you

I don't know why they didn't take over an existing known brand, then reposition it gradually eventually rebranding it. Tesco did that in Thailand with Tesco Lotus and it seems to have worked there.

Well I think partly Fluffster is that supermarkets etc in USA are very regional, so which brand are you going to take over or rebrand? Like when I lived in Houston the biggest ones were Randall's and they could have probably easily captured the Texas Market, but up in Boston Randall's doesn't exist, or in Louisiana or wherever, probably they should have started small with taking over "Seven.-Eleven" stores or somthing like that.
One of the queer things in Hungary is that Tesco its small stores markets itself as "Tesco Exspressz" but a lot of small stores in Hungary do it in English as "wossname Express", not "Expressz". I think the 24 hour up at the Spar/OMV petrol station about ten minute's walk from me is an "Express" but Tesco market as "Expressz". And yet that is neither arseholes nor watercress is it, do you want to do it in English or Hungarian?
My Dad actually knew and worked with the chap who set up the Hungarian operation of Tesco, first name of Mike. He gpt ,made reduntant from the age of about 53 and applied for jobs, started with sainsburys filling freezers but had been a progress chaser all his life so somebody somewhere must have said tosomeone oh we could do with a man who can chase stuff..... make sure the orders come in on time etc etc fropm all our suppliers, so that is what he did for the last ten years of his career. So in a sense Tesco paid his pension, and paid my inheritance. I cannot dismiss that lightly.
mET Him at my Dad's Retirement bash but only very brielfly of course as you do on these occasions. i always thought that was their first expansion but apparently they invaded Poland first..... hmmmm... sounds familiar.....
But Tesco are constantly reinventing themselves, as of yourse you have to, to stay in business. It is not "Pile it high, sell it cheap" as Jack Cohen the founder said or is quoted to have said. Now for that you go to Aldi or Lidl. You go to Tesco for your posh bits and pieces.
The keep people in work and there is no shame in hard wor I have shoveled shit to earn a day''s pay. No shame in hard work.

Well, whatever. 7-11 is franchise so maybe just take over 7-11.
Or take them one by one regionally then join them up by rebranding over say, 10-15 years.Â

Job done.

I am not sure how they cheated, they did everything by the book.
A vote of no confidence in the government, or a two-thirds majority vote in the House of Commons, can still trigger a general election at any time.
On 18 April 2017, Prime Minister Theresa May announced her intention to call a general election for 8 June 2017, bringing the United Kingdom's 56th Parliament to an end after two years and 32 days. There might be another election soon to test the theory again.
The Conservative Party conference is going on now and Boris is making very challenging noises over Brexit. If there's a leadership contest, then inevitably there's going to have to be another election prior to Brexit next year. It makes sense for Boris to do that to secure a mandate after March 2019. Might be Brexit has to be postponed if there's an election
Â
Corbyn hasn't got a serious chance even though the polls indicate a split.Â

Will over to the Brexit thread, its not fair for the Non Brits
7-11 stores are Franchises.
I was semi- interested over 30 years ago to open up my own Supercuts hair cutting salon.
Was only about $150,000 to get set up but as a new franchise holder you didn't get to pick the cream of the crop as far as locations went.
They had shops available out in no where land and we weren't willing to move.
Looking back now, we should have done so.
When I first started doing hair my second job was at Supercuts on Ventura Blvd, in Tarzana, Ca.
We did a good 120 heads a day on a Sat.
Hard to believe but most of our clients either did their hair at our shop or had their children';s hair done there because of the cost. Most of our clients were Afghan people, worked with several other stylists from there as well. Sort of a posh Supercuts because of the location and clients, they would drive in with a new Benz and even a few time a Rolls pulled into out parking lot. Cheap people who knew how to save a penny. Hard to believe maybe that a wealthy Afghan and Persian population was in LA in the mid 1980's. The wealthy people from those countries left when troubles began in their homeland, totally different sort of immigrants then those now coming over.
Those rich mom's were dripping in gold and diamonds taking their kids into Supercuts, they all had Beverly HIlls attitudes as well. Nightmare!!
Other weekdays a good 80 heads a day was average.( Not people, just counting heads)
Forgot how much a basic cut was then , maybe about $8.
A percentage was paid to the Supercuts corp. but the owners made a killing anyways, always super busy at Supercuts.
About a decade later in New Mexico I opened up my own small salon based on the Supercuts example.
Was only about 1/2 mile away from one of their shops, had worked for about 6 months at that hard core busy Supercuts to get to know the sort of clients etc. in the area.
I was dead most days, people love a big name co. even though they would of gotten better service, had more time spent on their hair and a free wash to boot.
Oh well people love brands.
There was a Fresh n Easy in Las Vegas. We shopped there just a few times.
Something was off with the set up inside there, hard to explain what didn't feel right.
The staff was nice but the display case just seemed, "European" maybe that's what was off.
It was sparsely stocked, just had a "discount" feel to the shopping experience but the prices weren't discount.

Maybe you could have called it Superkutz or Supercute or SooperCutieCuts or something similar. People could have come to you mistaking you for it.
I buy quite a lot of stuff from Amazon. I always look for supplied by Amazon and not by their marketplace model. The reason is that they sometimes get it wrong and they won't come and collect wrong deliveries and their customer service is actually quite good.Â
People have had giant TVs delivered by mistake and they haven't collected them. I received some tools once which went to a neighbour who promptly forgot about them. I complained to Amazon and they sent me another one. Then about 4 weeks later, the neighbour told me she had it and then I had two sets. I contacted Amazon and told them to collect the spare set and they said I should just keep it! Thanks Jeff (Bezos)!
On the other hand I accidentally ended up with two technical books the same once and was charged for two. I said I only need one and they said they didn't want it back as it was a special order and I was charged correctly. So I had to give one away. Wasn't a large amount of money so I wasn't that bothered.
fluffy2560 wrote:Maybe you could have called it Superkutz or Supercute or SooperCutieCuts or something similar.
And get sued into bankruptcy by Supercuts for "confusing the consumer" (yes, that is a legitimate reason to sue in the USA). They don't even have to have a winnable case. They only need to make you spend money defending yourself till you go out of business.
And not just in the USA.
My wife started a student group called "GeoApp" in Switzerland, and "Geo" the magazine tried to block her application when she tried to register the name. Cost her many thousands of Swiss Francs in legal fees to defend her application, which was "trivial" compared to what one can loose in the USA in such cases.

Well.... Let's start at the source.
The POTUS can be anyone. A complete moron maybe. It is just a popularity contest. There is no competence test. So the fish can stick from the head.
Side note: I have "read" that Kavanaugh was not even on Donald's short list, till the Republican party members suggested him. A total political insider nomination. Hm..... and the right talks about the evils of "a deep state".....
Which is why (I suspect) the White House is now allowing the FBI to follow any leads they want. I think Donald would prefer one of his own picks instead -- and maybe he has a point there (i.e. why is he letting the Republican establishment think for him in such nominations if he is the "populist President"?).
Quite frankly, Kavanaugh is a flawed candidate on many levels. He was nominated just because he is a party "insider" (IMHO). If the Republicans are smart (?), they would jettison him and select another applicant -- who I suspect would fly easy into confirmation simply because he is not Kavanaugh.... But people can get stubborn.

I need to remove a tree.
I can blow it up with dynamite. I got results, the tree is gone. So is my house, and all the houses of my neighbors.
Or I could have hired a professional who could have felled it properly, and effectively without any property damage.
Getting results alone is not relevant, especially if you cause collateral damage what was completely avoidable.
Seriously..... think about that. And when you do, can you still claim to others that you think a person who just blows things up, by focusing only on a singular idea of "getting results", is really clever?

I think Matt Damon has a real chance for SCOTUS.....

And get sued into bankruptcy by Supercuts for "confusing the consumer" (yes, that is a legitimate reason to sue in the USA). They don't even have to have a winnable case. They only need to make you spend money defending yourself till you go out of business.
And not just in the USA.

Yes I know.
We have the same law in the UK. It's called "passing off". There's mostly a defence if you work in a different sector.Â
For example Supercuts the hair salon vs Supercuts the metal laser cutting specialists.
One would still have to defend it though to win and yes, it'd cost money.
Lucky for me, I had my salon named with nothing to do with Supercuts.
I did work for a bit at a salon also on Ventura Blvd. in Tarzana called ,"Unicuts" they copied everything from Supercuts , even their handbook on polices etc.
They had some issue legally with Supercuts but as far as I now it didn't lead to much. They even taught the "Supercuts hair cutting" . A system of cutting hair in 15 mins or less. I hated it, I usually took 20 mins because I hate doing a lousy job, they actually now days have all work registered on the shop computer, can tell how many cuts you did per day, how many other services such as colors or washes. Really a communist sort of system if you ask me. They do not take into consideration if your working on a half bald person or a person with super thick hair, 15 mins a person or they may right you up for being slow... Not a creative way to work at all, a good cut with wash and dry should or could be done between 45 mins to one hour for average heads of hair. I couldn't work in those sort of shops for long, only worked here and there over a few years, not a place to make a career at all, can make money but you never grow as a stylist.
My husband has gone over to the land management office , went last week too just take a look again at the owners paperwork for our flat.
Had been awhile since he looked at the books.
All clear.
He went today to sign up for a 2 times a year peek at the books online, think the cost is like 3,500 F.
One can look at their title of their property twice a year to see if anyone has a lean or anything against your owners rights.
Might be a good thing for most people to do these days to check once in awhile.
We have no debts but for those with credit cards or car loans anything could be a good thing to check once in awhile to see if there might be a lean against your property.
For 6,000F you can get a hard copy of their flies if you go into their office.
Never know as each year they tend to increase the common costs on flats, might be easy to fall behind without even realizing you owe here and there.
Just an idea.
My old friend from age 11 just underwent major spine surgery yesterday at Davis Medical Center in Ca.
She had her neck done a few months ago but yesterday they opened up her entire spine and put some sort of cage around her vertebra.
Her daughter is with her watching in the ICU unit.
She can't move ATM because they are waiting for the delivery of a special built back brace she must wear while she heals.
I really don't know exactly why she went through all of this at age 63.
Seems extreme ,if it was that bad why wait until this age?
I do remember her saying at age 12 that her back hurt all the time but 51 years later it gets addressed?
All I can say is they must have some really good health coverage for this!
No national health plan for her!!
I do hope in the end it will be worth it and she is pain free but I sort of doubt this drama will end soon.
She is a very large built lady, maybe a boob reduction would of been an easier route?
Ok, so here it is.
For 3,300 Forints you can sign up to get any updates on any issues with your property, an "alert" notice sent by e-mail.
2 times a year you can go into the land management office and see what they have on file about your property, it is actually public info.
For 6,000 forints you can get a hard copy of your title info as on file at their office.

I think that's ridiculous to charge any money at all.
Asking for information about something you own. Cheek of it!
Public info my eye.
True , Hungary is very good at coming up with new ways to get money out of people.
Not sure if this will happen or not but my husband read that soon they may no longer let people park on the st. in their districts without paying for parking.
Now if you go into city hall and pay a bit, 2 or 3,000F a year, you can park in the district where your address card is.
Seems they want to push people away from driving in the city or something.

Might be a green thing as well as a way to get money off the masses.
UK has said no more diesel or petrol cars by 2040 and somewhere else said even earlier, like 2025. I don't see it's possible. An electric car is useless unless it can travel on one charge - 1000km at 160 km/h with 5 people and a large pile of luggage. Recharging to full power should take less than 5 minutes.
There was some fake news around yesterday that anyone over 65 would have their driving license taken away.  Some people will fall for that as it has a whiff of lunatic plausibility in the HU world.
The gov. everywhere seems to just love to put fear in people's hearts, makes no sense at all other then a control tactic.
I was the only kid interested in my mom's tales of the past.
She always said she should write a book but never did.
Most old photos I've tried to date and put names on but cousins etc. may get lost in the mix.
We have a suitcase full of photos from the past, before digital cameras.
Several albums too, not sure our son even is interested and most of the photos are of him.
I've had my husband scan many and post on our computer for easier access.
My mom had a house fire when she was a child and most of the photos of her native family were lost.
Really a shame, she said she had photos of native men with their long braids etc. Would be cool now to blow them up and hang them on a wall.
The weather is great, have to get out today for another walk while it's sunny and not too chilly out.
Funny thing though with my US half/bro who was excepted by his mom's husband, he probably grew up not looking a thing like the guy, must of burnt him some in the long run knowing his wife was a skank.
I'm usually open minded but not with my own , the thing was that women was suppose to be my mom's BFF and the kicker was she was 12 years my mom's jr.
They lived right across the st. from us so when the news was found out, my mom took us all away and left her house. She couldn't bare to live there any longer.
I feel that women should of been punished and not us chldren and my mom.
Oh, well, my dad didn't stick around for her or their kid either, karma.
Funny enough though, my step-dad was 12 years my mom's jr. too!!! Guess she got "even" with my dad in a tiny way!!
