Common misconceptions and clichés about life in Greece

Post new topic

Hello everyone,

Old clichés die hard, as the saying goes... and living in Greece can generate lots of misconceptions in the eyes of the people.

What are the most common misconceptions about the expat lifestyle in Greece?

What are the most common clichés about life in Greece in general?

Did you have a biased view of the country before moving there? What is you view now?

Thanks in advance,

Priscilla

If you are American, be prepared to jump through major hoops to get things settled legally. For example, I went to the Visa office early in my arrival and was told I did not need to take any action. One year later, I was nearly deported for failing to have the proper paperwork that should have been obtained at THE VISA OFFICE! Thankfully, everything was taken care of correctly and I am now a happy resident of Greece. All I can suggest is ask everyone the same question 5 times and life will be much easier here!
