Employment ops

Post new topic

Hi - we're just in the process of filling out our pre-approval state sponsorship skilled migration. I am what the Aussies classify a 'Marketing Specialist' and am wondering about employment ops in Canberra.

I have noticed a number of comments about not being able to work for any government office if you have a Permanent Residency visa. Does anyone on the forum know if this is correct.  It will clearly cut down my chances of employment quite dramatically if I can't work for any government office at all.

We are also struggling with areas/schools and trying to get our heads around affording to live for a period of time before we secure employment.

Sigh...

Your thoughts would be most welcome.

Hello.

From what I have read and researched this is true. Most job postings will specifically state, "security clearance required". If you research of how to get security clearance, that usually states Australian citizenship is required. I believe other countries do impose this policy for security reasons of documents, etc.

You might want to ask the government office that you are interested in applying for to confirm this information directly to get the correct information.

Good luck.
