Hello everyone!

According to the 2016 UN World Happiness Survey, Denmark, Switzerland and Iceland are the happiest countries on earth.

How about you? Are you happy in Sweden? Do you feel happier today in your host country than before in your home country? What has contributed to the change?

In your opinion, are locals in Sweden happy? How can you tell?

Please share your experience!

I am happy to be here, nice nature, woods sorround you, quiet..but sometimes too queit, and not so easy to approach sweds as friend :) though once they close, I realize they are very nice people. Really hard to find a job wih my educational background. But most of all I am happy that I am here.

They say 'America is the land of opportunities'.....I say 'Sweden is the land of closed-doors' ....I need to get out of this comfortable prison soon...:) and I have to do a standup comedy once in my life....just to show my 'love' for Sweden.
But in short No I'm not happy in Sweden because comfort is very nice to have but we the human race were always tribal, we used to hunt together, eat together and do things together. Swedish people are the most uptight, racist, narrow minded and narrow visioned people I have ever met. They give opportunities to only their own race, they pick resumes with Swedish names and always play safe but still be racist and think they are superior to other races. The jokes they laugh on are mostly someone mocking someone else or making fun of someone. I have spent years living in dorm with Swedes and I have never seen them laughing on anything other than the Indian racist character in Simpsons.
I always believed in equality and justice but hey in Sweden they use super smart tactics to mess you up as a foreigner.

From my own experience I have learnt one and only one lessons.

You can judge a country's level of acceptance for minorities or foreigners by just trying the dating life.

I lasted about 4 months in Sweden before I moved back to the US with my husband. We were depressed and turned off by the job market... We've been in L.A. for the past few years and are planning to move back to Skåne next summer (I applied for my permit Jan 2016) . We're hoping that this time around, with jobs and a new mindset, we'll be happier. If not, we'll probably move to Amsterdam! :D
