Whats the process for a TT visa? (I'm the parent of a VN citizen)

I'm the father of a Vietnamese citizen, but they are a minor (baby actually). I'm unmarried so there is no spouse to sponsor me and a minor can't be a sponsor either. Do TT visas require a sponsor?

Do you apply for one the same way you would a normal visa on arrival, using a website? Or would you apply in person at an immigration office? I'm living in Hanoi now and my tourist visa expires at the end of this month.

Could it be as easy as providing the burth certificate with my name on it to be granted a TT visa?

Thanks a lot guys

I doubt it but I am not being facetious when I say why don't you try what you suggest and get back to us.  You will likely waste a day doing it but if you succeed , you will have spent a lot less time and energy than doing a border run.  If you are still on speaking terms, you might want to bring the mother and baby with you to the immigration office, the first for translating, the second for sympathy.
