If you are willing to learn on the internet, there are many many free resources available. Some recent one of note are the many free resources offered by Apple. Apple has developed a programming language know as Swift, that is for developing on all of their platforms which include iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. They offer resources that are, of course, focused on Swift, but also start at a beginner level and thus goes into programming basics. Here is their "Everyone Can Code" page:

If you scroll down on the page you will see many of the free resources including their "Swift Playgrounds" app that is an app they have developed to make learning programming fun, as well as video lessons on using the app.

They also provide eBooks that include:

Learn to Code 1, 2, & 3
App Development with Swift
As well as all of the teacher guides for the eBooks

There is also a plethora of free programming resources offered through iTunes U, which include full college courses offered by universities such as Stanford & Harvard.
