Hello one and all. My name is Marcus and I am almost 1 year into marriage to my wife Webalem. I lived in Addis for about 4 months while visiting for the marriage. I am very interested in buying property in Ethiopia for my family but there are so many conflicting reports in comparison to what my wife has explained to me about this topic. I am also in School pursing a degree in Business Administration so I can utilize both my wife's import/export license and exercise my entrepreneurial spirit. I look forward to future discussions about our shared experience.

I have a 9-year-old daughter from Ethiopia (SNNPR) who is the light of my life. I'm a huge fan of Ethiopia and all things Ethiopian. We live in Belgium but travel to Ethiopia once per year and hope one day to live there. I'm particularly interested in learning Amharic (I am fluent in 4 languages but this will be my first non-Western one) and gaining a better understanding of Ethiopian culture(s).

What curfew?
Water is out where I am atm. Yesterday it was power for an hour. Make sure to move where there is a generator and water tank if possible
Oh I see... I read that emergency state has been declared in Ethiopia and curfew were on.
I didn't think that power cut were so important but it seems that with a good generator you can easily fix it right ?

Yes. I am getting a wonderful deal where I live, so I am not moving atm. But when you look for a place, make sure you ask if a generator and a water tank is there. As for the curfew: I have been here since Nov last year and have never encountered that type of situation.

Hello Dear Expats:
I recently arrived from San Diego California with the hope of easily adjusting to the way of life in Ethiopia. Let's just say things are a tad challenging here.
My social interaction leaves a lot to be desired. In an age where mobile phones and Internet take center stage, asking for real and meaningful human friendships appear to be out of vogue.
What I do and like:
With academic bent, I am in the field of mobile (and wireless) communications engineering, now hoping to do consultancy and teaching work. I do also write, with three books undet my belt so far. (No, no bestsellers yet) I have interests in arts, innovations as well as in healthful living.
I am looking for people to chat, share ideas and do things with. Even having coffee once in a while is fine.
Hi my name is Yohannes ,working for GIZ international. have you already got a residence or still looking? xxx

My name is Wasihun Ayele (Kanu) I grew up on a farm in the highlands of Lalibela with my family of seven. Life was simple, the vast fields bore witness to our curiosity. and as kid, I spent my time with my families on the farm land which demands hard work to tilling, planting, caring, fertilising and harvesting!
So, This is where I have learned to obey the rules of the land and about nature!
As i got older, i went to school and got my Diploma with Tourism, Human Resource Management and French Language.
Then after school, I quickly understood the importance of preparation, hard work, love and respect of our mother nature!
I have worked as a trekking guide for the national park of Abuna Yosef, Bale Mountain and City guide in Addis Ababa for over 7 years, leading many treks with people from all over the world.
Happy to be here on expat forum!

Hi I'm Sarina I will moving to Addis with my partner and I am looking for work or volunteer opportunity. I have more than 9 years of operations and administration work experience with INGO and companies.
Hello there!
My name is Faith, a Zambian nationality. I moved here a month ago from Kigali, Rwanda where i spent 2 years working in Mobile Financial Services or mobile money. What brings me to Ethiopia is the immense opportunity that exists in bringing about financial inclusion for over 80% adult Ethiopians that don't have a bank account. Am leading a company that provides technology to Financial Institutions so that people are able to use their mobile phones for various financial transactions.
Other than that....i have always been very curious about the world and Ethiopia and looking forward to experience all the good things this country has to offer.
Am still not yet settled, just found an unfurnished house so hoping this forum can give me leads on where to get furniture, guard, maid etc.........as well as make new friends!
