International Schools

Hi,
We are considering moving from the US to KL next year. Our son will be 11 by then and the schooling situation has us really concerned.

I was hoping to get some feedback from the very well informed and helpful people on this forum regarding international schools. Have been through earlier posts and realize not all schools labelled as such are in fact international.

We are looking for a reputed IB school which is not prohibitively expensive and which has a balanced mix of locals as well as expats. Our intention would be to stay in Malaysia through our son's school education, so stability is important and it would be great not to have a revolving door type situation featuring mainly expat kids. We are happy to widen our search to the greater KL area as we are not limited to one particular area.

Also, aside from Mont Kiara, GIS and all the other major international schools , we've heard about the Sunway International School and wondered if anyone has had a first hand experience with the place.

Thanks

The "Malaysia International Schools Parents, Support Group" fb has more Intl school info.

Sunway Intl school has a good reputation, never heard parent complains about it. If IB school is what you are after, IGB Intl school might be an ideal choice, but it can be costly though.

Hi, my husband has secured a job at a university in Kuala Lumpur.  Wanted feedback on Sunway international school and also the area, Bandar Sunway, if one decides to live there due to close proximity to school.  My daughter will start year 8 in September but I believe intake for year 8 in SIS is in January 2018.  Any more info either on school or the area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks . . .

Sunway International is good but if you are living in the proximity of KL city -cBD or even mont kiara its a long drive and horrendous traffic jam. The other IB school within reach from Mont kiara is Parkcity international. Closer to Mont kiara is the Cempaka International School in Damansara Heights, which is neighboring Mont Kiara offers the IB programme too.

It really depend where you live as well. At the end of the day, you do not want to stuck in the traffic for  an hour for school run , back and forth and 5 days a week.

Thanks for your replies.  Any feedback on the British International School Kuala Lumpur and would it be convenient to live near the Tropicana developments?  Whats the area like?
Thanks in advance . . .

Gravitas

Has a good reputation. Expensive. 9 Bukit Utama is more convenient.

British international school its a top notch international school here and I would say they rank first top 3. Tropicana is a upscale neighbourhood and am staying nearby as well. Good condo in that area say Tropicana Grande, Tropicana Avenue. In tropicana there is another new international school called St Joseph International school, i am considering that school myself because its near. Even British school just 10-15 min drive from tropicana. That area is very green and nice neighbourhood. Stay away from Mont Kiara the popular expat area , too crowded with condo, cars, over developed.

Hi ,
For IB school, there is another one at Putrajaya ( Nexus International School ) under Taylor's group.

In term of Sunway International School (SIS), you can have a good mixed of local and foreign students.

If you intend to stay at Bandar Sunway, then you may consider the newly recompleted Sunway Geo Residences

Kingsley International School in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya is another British International School to consider. The students perform well in IGCSE exams. They offer excellent program right from nursery to A Levels. Their Early Years Department is good and is headed by one Mrs. Daniel. Parents are very happy and satisfied with early years program in Kingsley International School. Mrs.Daniel seems to know her stuff and is very thorough with the curriculum. She has a dedicated team working with her in the early years department.

Kingsley International School seems to have grown in leaps and bounds since it first started. My grandchildren simply love the school. They are given the utmost care, good qualitative education and the teachers and staff are caring and concerned about their wellbeing. Security is excellent, the teachers maintain a healthy rapport and contact with the parents via the school portal and the communication books. Classrooms are spacious and well stimulated with relevant displays. Their food (meal plan) is an added feather to their hat. Well done to KIS!!!

Hi hello!!
Mu suggest for the school of your son is Hibiscus International school in Segambut.
Quiet affordable.
I think that's the international school in kuala lumpur who offer a very low price.and quiet near in month kiara.
Try to search in Google Hibiscus International school Jalan udang segambut.
