Hi all :)

I am moving to Malta next week and I am hoping to find someone who can share/sell a starter of kombucha or water kefir.

Hi Catarina,
I usually buy kefir from supermarkets (500g tubs - approx. €1.40). I don't know if you can use that as a starter.
Hope this helps.
Wishing you a pleasant stay here in Malta.

What I am looking for is water kefir, a probiotic drink made without milk, based on water. Or kombucha, which is made with green tea. But thanks anyway.

Yes, i really look forward to living in Malta :-)

If you just put Kefir Grains in the search box at the top of the Forum you will find posts from 2012 through 2015 on this topic. The question has been asked many times before!

Save you the trouble, here is a link:    https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=208046
You can also find them on eBay and they will deliver to Malta

Hi Ray,

Yes, i did the search and i messaged two people who mentioned water kefir, no reply yet. Most of the ppl in that conversation talk about normal kefir made with milk. I am still looking for water kefir grains, the idea is similar but no milk involved, only water.

And, i have already twice ordered the grains from ebay, unfortunately both times they didn't survive the journey …

That's why i still hope to find them on Malta.

They send with priority letter and the grains have arrived in good condition already after 3 days.
They ship Mondays and Thursdays. Better you order and pay on Thursday or Friday, then they'll send on Monday and the letter arrives on Thursday or latest Friday.
