Virtu ferries run a high speed catamaran service but will not take up to van size.

I have had the same problem and it is best to speak directly to an agent.  Some of the companies have suspended routes etc.

Try contacting Alina at ViaMare, she has been incredibly helpful and very very patient.

Thank you...I will do that...we are taking a 4x4 as well!  Do you have an email/contact number for Alina?

Thanks again.

Grimladi used to do both Genoa to Malta and Civitavecchia to Malta. The Genoa service was stopped last year though and they have now suspended the Rome service until April at least. So you might have no choice but to drive to Sicily. :(

We have managed to book Barcelona to Genoa, drive down to Livorno and pick up the ferry to Malta from there.

Nightmare faffing about, especially with 3 dogs and 2 cats in the car.....aarrgghh....

There it is:

suspended until the end of March for reasons of a commercial nature. A few weeks ago they were taking bookings to Malta for this summer, but they have now disappeared from their website too. Give their Malta office a call and they might tell you more:

Didn't know about the Livorno route, might have to use that myself if I want to drive back to the UK. Cheers.

You can also try Grandi Navi Veloci from Livorno, but they make a stop and go in Palermo. So around 34 hours trip.

I called yesterday and unfortunately they have suspended the service from Genova.

I have found that

aferry.co.uk give great rates ... its a sort of Compare site and will give you the rates and the ferry details

for example March from Livorno to Malta including a cabin and a car = £192 (One Person) In a Chair its only £132 these are one way prices
