Hypothetical but most times not relative. A family issue. There is a source (law) but it's open ended, not particularly specific nor any successful cases at law against R.A. whatever relating to the rich brother not supporting the lay abouts.
Coach can probably give you the relevant law or you could google/ search back here. A very lengthy read.

Cheers, Steve.

The f'ing church controls marriages. So yes, most women are separated not divorced because they can't afford the church fees to get an annulment. Church is supposed to help the people but they help themselves. Don't get me started on the church here. If a woman is telling you she is separated, she's probably being honest. If she was trying to trap you, she would just say she's single.

As usual  I have the meaning of laws in my head, but I don't have that good memory so I remember links   :)
but I remember it's a part of the long law called "Family code" .

The law is fuzzy about have to support up to WHICH LEVEL,
but clear about have to support IF the needing person does his best to solve his problems himself.  And depending of capacity the presumtive supporter have, if having any resources to support with.
I don't remember but I suppouse OLD parents/grandparents/great grandparents can expect support without needing to do their best anymore concerning EARNNG..  The old (over 65)  can get a tiny support from the government, seem to be big local differences.
The part with doing their best to be entilted to get support from relatives,  seem many Filipinos have failed to notice... :)

Yes. Much in the law are fuzzy,
but clear there is a have to to the closest if they do their best.  Good the law have that condition, because otherwice would all hard working get broke by supporting lazy relatives. In many cases it's like that in reality anyway   :)   but not supported by the law.
