MOVING TO AUSTRALIA FOR HIGHER STUDIES

Shamelahmed

Hello, I'm a 20 year old boy from Maldives. I'm planning to move to Australia for my degree. I have heard that visas are very complicated and living costs are extremely high in Australia. I was hoping whether I would be able to work to cover my living expenses. I could cover the tuition fees. It is living costs I am worried about. So if there are any international student in here, could you please tell me the living costs per month on average and whether I could cover the living costs with a job?

As a student you can only work part time, 20 hours a week.
It is expensive to live in Australia. For cost of living www.numbeo.com.

You would have to have your own private medical insurance cover too.

Even though you are allowed to work 40 hours per fortnight on a student visa, you are required to have access to sufficient funds to support yourself without working. Apart from the course fees, you need to have at least AUD $ 19.830 per year to cover living costs.
