Hi Guyz,

is there any Libyan or International banks in Libya issuing credit cards to expats in Libya? If yes then what is the procedure and what are their requirements.. Thanks

officeboy

Nope, as an expat your technically not even supposed to get a debit card, your only hope is a credit card from another country (I use my UK credit and debit cards here with no problems)

Try Aman Bank.

If you open an account, you're eligible for a cheque book and a debit card.
Credit cards are prohibited by Central Bank of Libya; at least before the people's uprising, heh heh heh.

The Credit Cards are accepted only at Hotels and some Airline Offices only. They Prefer Visa Cards.

Planning my return in a month and am very excited to get back! What is the best bank now for expats (regarding the ability to transfer money (either now or in the near future, inshallah ;), banking hours, etc? I used to bank with Aman Bank...

Hi there,

Amman Bank is good in fact only bank  has best ATM network uptime till I left CBL in March 2010. Banking hours usually from 0800 to 1500 Hrs with Friday and Saturday off.
Barclays is planning to open the branch at the end of this year but this will be limited to Tripoli only.

Good luck for your trip.
