Hi all,

I was wondering what options would an American citizen with 1 yr multiple entry visa that is due to expire do to remain in Vietnam?

Am I able to leave the country and return and get another one or can I remain in country to do this.

I guess I'm looking for options short of marriage or work permit.

Any help or advice is appreciated,

T

Hello this is William,

It's better if you get a temporary  resident card , that way you don't  have to waste time going out of the country then come back again.
You save time and money.
I got my temporary resident card for two years.

I don't have the name of the address where I got mine, but here is the name on back of my resident card so you can ask around.
Truong Phong
City of Immigration office

Once at the City Immigration office they will tell you, what outside business in VN helps you get your temporary resident card. Because at the City of Immigration office they say they are to busy working on Immigration cases.

hope this helps,
Will

Thanks Will,

I will look into it. I'm arriving tomorrow. I knew there had to be a better way.

I just received my  1 year Multiple entry Tourist Visa, will travel to Vietnam in a week, is there any requirement for me to exit Vietnam after so many days  in Country??  The Visa says 'Length of stay subject to permission by Immigration Authority'.  I suppose this means whenever the Officer stamps it at he airport, does he/she determine how long you can stay before leaving??

Tunnelrat69,

I'm told you have to leave every 90 days. I would recommend doing it with a couple of days to spare as they tend not to know how to count. I read somewhere that a guy was thinking, ok 90 days = 3 months but it depends on the amount of days in the months. If you go over expect it to cost you time, aggravation, and $. Just a note about what the Vietnamese embassy in NY, USA told me. They said 186 days but it doesn't jive with what I gather from my research. Look at the dates at the immigration stamp when you arrive. Good luck,
