Arriving one day early for Visa

Your biggest problem may be the airline if they see your visa date is too early. They are liable to take you back to your original destination. If you get past that, the Commies won't let you in. I would be arranging your flight for the following week to save any hassles.

As Colin said, your airline may not let you board if the dates are in advance, even by only a day.   
I always use the VOAs and every time the airline checkin counter  requests to see it &checks date of arrival.

First up, I'd check with your airline to see if they let you board and snooze in the transit lounge on arrival for 4 hours.
Failing that, contact the VOA agent you went through to see if the vIsa approval letter can be amended by a day &reissued.  They may have a fee for that though .

Oops......checked baggage.     Depending on the airport layout ,  I wouldn't feel too confident having a snooze for a few hours while your baggage sits idle in the baggage collection area😆
