Power outage

Post new topic

Gary

Since 3:30 PM or so.
Now, that's nothing new you'd say.

Well, it  depends. "Normally" this happens when there's rain and/or wind but today nothing of that, the power went just out of the blue. Nice weather, some clouds, no rain or wind and Bang! No power.

It seems to occur more and more, maintenance is a no-no because of the lack of money. With duct tape and bailing wire they try to keep the system running. According to the AEE site the job was assigned to a service crew, they'll be there later and replace the big fuse, stay for a minute or two and when the power stays on they're done (they think).

Gen-set is running good so we're fine...

What's the latest?  Still no power?

Chewing gum tends to melt in the heat Gary, they keep using it cause it is cheaper than a permanent repair. This leaves more money for beer also.

Power was restored yesterday night around 10PM.
Obviously the problem wasn't fixed, they just put a new fuse in the high voltage line.

So today it went again, from midday until 5 PM or so.

Let's see what tomorrow brings. (filled up the gas tanks so I'm good to go for a while..)

No power in Barrio Beatriz since the morning. We had to send our contractor home. To bad. Waste of time and money.

Ours went out at 1 a.m. and didn't come back on until 11 a.m.  Guests in our vacation house report that the El Yunque area is out and that a transformer was hit by lightning last night.

Still no power. The power went on at 3:00 for about 10 minutes and then Went down again. Crossing my fingers it comes on soon before nightfall.

We have power!
