Hello everyone,

What are the requirements for acquiring citizenship in Denmark? For example, length of residence, language requirements, employment etc..

What formalities are involved in the process?

What is the policy on dual-citizenship in Denmark? Do you have to give up your former nationality?

What are the advantages and benefits of acquiring Danish citizenship, in your opinion?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

After 7 years of residency one has to pass citizenship exam.  Should have higher level of language modules. Dual citizenship is not related to Denmark but depends upon native country.  Lots of advantages being citizen.

I am not aware of any advantages of Danish citizenship, perhaps someone could enlighten me, I suppose it depends on the passport one already holds.

From Wikipedia (via Google translation):
Citizens' rights include in particular the right to vote, eligibility, the right to reside in the country and protection against extradition to other countries, as well as the possibility of being employed as a state official***. In addition, citizenship is entitled to assistance from posted diplomatic representation abroad.

The most important citizen duty is national service.

*** People are not employed as state officials any longer.
